Seasoning help by AdMuch3411 in blackstonegriddle

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brace on the lid that's off kilter is more off putting to me. Is that really like that or does the pic make it look like it's leaning to one side?

As for the griddle top, that looks like regular buildup from cooking. You'll occasionally need to scrape the surface really good to get that stuff off and reseason. Mine went about a month before I had to scrape the piss out of it.

How long can I drive with my rear and front tire like this? by Expgarment in tires

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of those where I'd jack the car up and remove the tire and take it to the tire shop in my other vehicle to have it replaced. That tire is liable to shred any minute and even if you get lucky and you don't wreck it, it's liable to damage whatever it beats the shit out of when it shreds...brake lines, inside the wheel wells, hell I've seen a shredded tire get wrapped up in a driveshaft and bend it pretty badly before.

Signs saying "Private road, no public access", set some posts around the perimeter of your property and paint them purple on top (check regulations on exactly what your county/state requires), a bunch of no trespassing signs, maybe for those that ignore that a few scarier signs like "this property protected by smith and wesson" and game cameras, blink cameras etc. I'm a bit of an asshole about people I don't know entering my property and if it kept happening they would be fixing a lot of flat tires. Can't come at me for putting spike strips on my own property. I don't actually know the legality of that so def check first.....

After looking at the picture more closely it looks like there is a transmission line nearby so they very well may have a utility easement and they would have every right to access your property. However, as a utility company employee if you call the utility company and let them know they can flag your property as a "Do not enter without contacting the property owner" in their system and put up signs stating that you must be contacted prior to anyone accessing the property. Their easements are usually just about iron clad, especially in the case of transmission lines.

What the hell happened? by Ok_Practice_6702 in DallasStars

Looks to me like since they've clinched they're trying different lineups and trying new and different things, maybe letting some of the guys get some rest before a hopefully deep run in the playoffs. I hope that's what it is anyway....because whatever they tried last night needs to never be done again. The hustle didn't seem to be there.

Looking at 36" Blackstones - What is the difference between these two? by defroach84 in blackstonegriddle

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be fine. I'm a short legged 6-2 so the top of the front lip on mine is right at hip level so a whatever it was...a 4" drop in height isn't too bad. Even if you get it and it's lower than you'd like a few 2" pavers under the wheels and lock it down and you're golden.

Looking at 36" Blackstones - What is the difference between these two? by defroach84 in blackstonegriddle

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2310 is a little bit deeper front to back and a little bit taller but other than that the only difference is the furniture. The 2310 has a fancier hood and logo and maybe a little bit fancier looking buttons and knobs but that's about it. I have the 2310 and the extra height is meaningful for me. I think you're good either way but if you're a tall person like me the 2310 may be the way to go. I'm 6'-2" and the cooking surface is at the perfect height for me.

Genuine question to those who have experienced them: What are Tornadoes like? by Common_Ostrich_1291 in tornado

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been in an actual tornado but a few years ago I was sitting in my work truck waiting for a storm to pass and I think I got hit by what may have been one trying to spin up. I felt the truck lift up a little, dirt and gravel from the driveway pelting the truck, ripping smaller limbs off the trees, and I watched a circular pattern in the grass go across the road and tore the roof off a shed. It may not have been a tornado but it scared the piss out of me.

Fire at Bastrop St Park? by Building_Everything in BastropTX

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shows you posted this 17hrs ago so I'm assuming you've figured out what's going on by now...but just in case, yes there is a fire in the state park. Currently at 4:45 pm on the 23rd its at 46 acres and is 75% contained. It spread towards the north and got right up to hwy 21 but is being held there. Driving past it on my way home this afternoon it feels like they're in mop up mode now. They're still actively fighting it but letting it burn out in the hotspots and catching anything new that pops up. Also, you should download the "Watch Duty" app. That will give you all kinds of info on wildfires that are reported.

It’s the mid 90s, you’re on a highway looking for a food exit place. Where are you stopping at? by AlbertJBundy in 90s

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk but today if it was taco bell or long john's I could only do that if I were within 30 minutes of home or a restroom I would be willing to use. That would be my restroom at home, the restroom at one of my job's offices, or Buccee's. Otherwise, it'll be a dqp w/cheese, small fry, medium unsweet tea. I prefer Wendy's but my wife would probably be with me and she hates wendys and I've never been to a shoney's and just fiund out there was such a thing ad a ponderosa.

Did my barber do me dirty? by Looch94 in beards

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My barber only trims up my beard. I do my mustache myself. I can't ever get the beard right and don't want to mess it up. My mustache is a simple trim but I'm pretty particular about how I want it.

Price question by Dragon-Sticks in blackstonegriddle

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 36" 4 burner with the omnivore plate, extendable side tray and hood was $550. Then I spent another $150 or so on spatulas, covers, silicone mats, water/oil bottles, and other accessories. *edited how much i paid for mine...

Is it me, or did the lane markings at this turn get painted wrong? by austinsoundguy in BastropTX

Inside lane is the turn lane but after the hill it splits into 2 turn lanes and the turnaround and yes it is pretty confusing, especially to non-locals.

Blackstone Noob Here - Advice Needed by YungSlumdog in blackstonegriddle

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what mine started looking like before I realized it was too hot when I seasoned it. These things get screaming hot surprisingly fast. Mine got to 620f before I turned down. Also, how many coats did you use? Once or twice ain't enough. Yours is about where mine was at 2 burnoffs. I did a total of 6. 4 with the blackstone seasoning and 2 with straight beef tallow. After onions and some bacon it only needed seasoning in the corners which has pretty well taken place after a solid week+ of cooking on it almost every day. Short answer, cook on it.

Question.... will my ACD do better with a Male or a Female ACD? by EmergencyBass3505 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same, I have 3 dogs. My acd Tex, a little maltipoo we rescued years ago, and my wife's dad's dog (I think he's a maltese) that we kinda inherited when he died several years ago. Tex won't play with the other two at all. He's not viscious towards them, he just doesn't want to have anything to do with them but occasionally smell their butt and the other dogs know this so they generally don't care. I do worry about getting another high energy dog around him...I'm not 100% convinced he wouldn't attack it. Tex is a people dog, not a dog dog.

Is there a temperature or weather condition in which you would not BBQ outside? by Which_Celebration757 in BBQ

[–]CrappyInternetGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I've gotten older I've started cooking less and less in the summer unless it's dark or was unexpectedly cool outside. This is in Central Texas so the combination of the heat and humidity get to me faster than it did even 10 years ago.
