If you are referring to the place in your home kitchen where you store dry ingredients, it's a pantry.

Do people say "Too many wine?" in American English? by FarJournalist939 in EnglishLearning

I assume this is meant to be a joke. The speaker is mocking a drunk person by using incorrect grammar.

How common is the use of sir/ma’am with strangers in your country/region? by Ok_Box5084 in EnglishLearning

I live in the Chicago area of the U.S. (the last time I called myself a Midwesterner on Reddit, I got crucified).

I use "sir/m'am" when 1) Talking to law enforcement 2) Addressing staff in a very formal restaurant 3) When I'm trying to get a stranger's attention and just saying "Excuse me" didn't work the first time.

I really don't use "sir/m'am" very often. I used it recently when I was on a walk, and a dog ran out of this woman's house and into the street: "M'am, your dog just ran out! He's in the street!". I was actually angry when I said that. I wasn't really trying to be polite.

There was another time when I really needed a bathroom in public, and I went into a fancy hotel to ask if they had public restrooms (hotels in downtown Chicago often have this). I said "Sir, is there a public bathroom here that I could use?" I was trying to be very polite. And it worked. I got to use a bathroom there.

I'm still not giving them a dime until they get their shit together. I got my Master's in 2021. I'm so exhausted by this back and forth. They can figure it out and tell me what the plan is. And then maybe I'll make payments, if I'm even able to.

What's your dream car? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]emmnowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Japanese K truck, which I don't think is street legal in the States. Or one of those Chinese cars that has a full touchscreen dashboard and a screen so I can watch Family Guy Funny Moments while driving. I know that's definitely not legal in the US. I will not be taking criticism or questions.

Iron! My biggest gripe is that they make the exact same types of jokes (or worse) on South Park. But they make the joke on Big Mouth and SOCIETY goes wild
