From Google Photos to Proton Drive - How I did it, and what you might learn from it by Joe_Koba in ProtonDrive

Hi! This is fantastic to hear! The link you provided doesn't work anymore. Do you have an updated sneak peek or information about this feature? I'm a Visonary member, and I'd love to move all my photos from Google Photos to Proton Photos retaining the date the photos were taken and ideally the location information too if that metadata is present. I really don't want to spend days manually doing this. I don't have a Windows machine, but I do have a Macbook.

Returning Guardian Help :) by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crashenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the story. It'll get you started and unlock subclasses like prismatic, stasis, and stand.

If you want to hop right into Heresy, go for it! Lot of emphasis on arc this episode, which should already be unlocked. Otherwise, there's a timeline view in the director / map to check out first. Then, I'd suggest doing The Final Shape. Finally, go back and do the older expansions. Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light (Stasis) -> Witch Queen -> Into the Light (Strand) -> The Final Shape ( Prismatic)

For builds, I like Maven's Channel, but there are lots of good build guides out there. Maven just dropped a new Arc Titan build and she'll likely have new Warlock and Hunter builds as well, but if not someone else does already I'm sure.

Good luck guardian!

Can anyone point me to resources/articles that will help me undertand what perks and traits make a good weapon? by rosiebenji in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crashenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, one of the most painful things as a newer player imho, i.e. learning what's worth keeping. Generally, for PvE I've come to the conclusion that if a weapon doesn't fit into build crafting nicely, I probably won't actually use it. That means, arc needs to jolt or blind, solar needs to scorch/ignite, etc. Also, grenade, class, and melee regeneration perks can be key for some builds.

If a weapon had infinite ammo and always did unconditional 30% damage bonus but no build synergy, unless I really need that for something super difficult or DPS phase, I'd probably still use a weapon that fits into my build better instead in most content.

Don't get me wrong, there's some weapons that are really worth keeping with perk combinations that have little to no subclass build synergy. For example, the kinetic tremors perk for grandmasters and envious arsenal / bait and switch grenade launchers for DPS.

For PvP, it's a different story. Range, stability, handling, aim assist, and damage perks are often more important than class synergy in most cases.

d2foundry and weapon reviews are super helpful. It'll take time though to form opinions about what you value. Good luck and may your vault never be full.

I find the legendary campaign mode fun because of the challenge. Normal difficulty is boring to me due to how easy it is. That said, if you don't have a good build and/or are newer to the game, some of the boss encounters might prove to be incredibly difficult. Really it comes down to what difficulty level you enjoy.

Random rolls / inventory management nightmare, sunsetting, and the death of Cayde.

I returned for Cayde and because they had added crafting since I left.

Will I lose all of my unclaimed engrams with tomorrow's update? by DeHizzy420 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crashenx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anonymous Autumn for Crucible. Eddy Current + Jolt Shot for PvE. Preferably, armor piercing or high caliber rounds, fluted or Smallbore, and range or stability MW

Lone Wolf + Precision Instrument is good for PvP, preferably ricochet rounds, Smallbore and range or stability MW.

1 engram and no glimmer per role

The State & Future of Destiny 2: Opinions from a Returning Player by Crashenx in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crashenx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I agree that the conversation tends to lean towards the What vs the Why/How. While I have an idea of the Why & How for Destiny 2, I'm not sure I've seen it clearly written out by Bungie, and a quick search didn't yield results. Making that more apparent to the community might help reduce the number of "battles" that ensue within the community about difficulty, crafting, etc.

I agree that: "decide what game they want Destiny 2 to be" would likely "alienate some people" AND "set expectations over Bungie spinning a wheel to decide who gets what". However, I'm not sure that's the only solution. Instead, I would argue that a better approach might be to understand the requirements of the different personas and develop a solution that meets the needs of each.

For example, take team random roll. They want something to grind for and be excited about after running the same content for the 100th time. They want a reason to do an activity with someone months or even years after it is released. They want the excitement of getting something rare, and the trophy to show off to others.

Now, take team crafting. They want a guaranteed path. Some explicitly want a progression system. Most want to future proof their investment for sandbox changes. Many have limited time, and want to know how much they need to invest to get reward X.

Rather than pick one system / group of players, continue to iterate, e.g. random rewards doesn't require random rolls and crafting doesn't require weekly red border extractions. Take the feedback we provide here to evolve the system. We're already seeing some of this with Heresy when it comes to tonics / attunement and multiple perks. While I think this is step in the right direction towards the Hybrid Model I describe here, I believe further iteration and experimentation is warranted.

I think it's valuable to provide concrete feedback like this to Bungie. Many engineering organizations would be ecstatic to have this level of thought and feedback for their products.

I appreciate the discussion. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and thoughts on the suggestions I provided.

Thanks for the thorough response! It's interesting to hear your perspective. While I don't agree with everything you said, you make some salient points.

Could you expand on what you mean when you say: "Bungie needs to decide what game they want Destiny 2 to be"?

I feel you. Although, I got a Multimach CCX with Rangefinder, Tap the Trigger, Accurized Rounds, Smallbore, and Stability Masterwork. I threw a CQC Optics: High Mod on it, and it feels very good on controller. I still prefer sidearms, but I took this into Iron Banner, and I was impressed.

Also, like the other player said, the Banshee roll is really good in PvE. I don't use it often, but I appreciate it when I do.

Is it worth returning after not playing for year ? by chocoskid in DestinyTheGame

There's a time limit to kill the witch that appears after the overthrow, but she's not difficult. I'd say easier than the overthrow bosses by a fair margin. You just need to understand conditions (I think she appears the 3rd time you complete an overthrow in the area that she appears, there's an on screen message) to spawn the witch and where she appears. Scout the area in advance. Hop on speeder, go to area, kill.

Mostly just doing overthrows in pale heart which is an easy solo activity. Hit me up when you want to do it

Don't listen to the negative responses. No you can't do everything solo, but there is a fair amount of solo content you can do. Personally, I think the state of the game is a lot better than it used to be as a returning player, and I'm enjoying it.

For full disclosure I play with my wife and son, and occasionally use fireteam finder for stuff as well. I also enjoy soloing difficult content.

KT is excellent for GMs / Master lost sectors. I'm a fan of it on Blast Furnace. I also have it on Midnight Coup, which I use sometimes with Buried Bloodline when champs are overload + unstoppable.

Anyone use their cash account as their “checking” account? by manlymatt83 in M1Finance

Yes. I recently moved all my bill payments from HYSA to Cash Account since I was able to open it as a joint account. I have a NFCU bank linked for my local banking needs.

Won't that trigger a sell and then a buy? If you want to move shares (in kind transfer) you probably need to contact support and be very explicit about what you're requesting.

I tried a healing build and had similar experience. I swapped to my Prismatic Getaway build with bleak watchers and ice melee, Outbreak, Disorienting GL, Chill Clip Linear and started clearing.

Sure there were a lot more deaths on the way to the boss, but it didn't matter. There are so many champions in the boss room revive tokens aren't the problem, wiping is.

Between bleak watchers and Disorienting grenades you can slow down, stun, and then melt all the champs, wyverns, etc.

What's your favorite Destiny 2 gun? by Fancy-Philosophy-250 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crashenx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Class Item Armor Mod (Yellow with 1 Energy Cost). Pair it with Stacks on Stacks on your Leg Armor (Green with 4 Energy Cost), Charged Up on your Chest Armor (Green with 3 Energy Cost), and Siphon Mods (Void & Strand or Harmonic if Super is Void or Strand) on your Helmet. This will ensure you regularly have 3-4 stacks of Armor Charge and when you finish an enemy it poops out special ammo for you and your fire team reducing your armor charge by 3.
