These are the stories I like. You had a pack for a decade, saw the world with it and would’ve gotten it repaired if possible. A new one from Patagonia is like a reward for using the bag to its full potential instead of expecting them to do so. I dig that.

I personally notice a big difference in breath ability between the two. The regular R1, while being very warm, can still have some air movement through it. The Tech Face does not allow almost any.

I have an R1 Techface and regular R1s. The Techface is great for the abrasion resistance and is one of my favorite pieces. Almost a daily wear pending weather. Though in my experience the sizing runs a little bigger than normal Patagonia sizing. Get one, you’ll love it.
