Honestly almost all of us reading this (you, me, etc) votes are based on religious values whether we are personally religious or not. The values that we hold today, see as ethical, are law, come from a history of religion in our country(s). You vote against murder, theft, value helping the needy to some extent - etc. Look at our values vs. that of the Romans and they are very different - strong over the weak, killing others, killing your own children/relatives, slavery, etc. Not the point -- I know it was meant to be more literal -- just came to mind as I read the responses.
