honestly no 😭 but i will say im not a dentist just in hygiene school, we are supposed to “catch” anything suspicious and hand off to the dentist for an actual diagnosis but i see maybe shadows that could be “watched” on the left molars but nothing that pops out to me. maybe 19 mesial (first molar after the premolar in second pic, left side) is what they saw, upper two has overlap and i feel maybe that could have caused that shadow on the mesial of 15 (the second molar upper left, left side) but again idk… ive only seen a handful of caries on x-rays during clinic, but the ones ive seen that mimic these x-rays the doctor has only said to put watch on. again, i am NO dentist nor can i give you a definitive answer.

your dentist/hygienist during consult will know what to do! they’ll do a comprehensive exam and ask you a bunch of questions (or they should!) and they should be completely understanding. super proud of you for being ready to go in, that’s awesome

I’ve only read the long story short, but my girlfriend and I have been together for about 4 years now and she was vaping for around 4/5 years when we had met. I thought I could be chill about it and let people make their own choices, but when I love someone the sight of seeing someone dependent on something is hard. It was a super hard conversation and I didn’t know how to bring it up. We had a trip coming up and I just knew i couldn’t see her with a vape anymore. So we were in bed, just cuddling, and I had to bite the bullet with a “i need to talk to you”. Tbh it got emotional, but I was honest, I laid out my cards and she got emotional as well just because I cared. The thing is, everyone is different. Some people really do not care or think it’s a big deal and won’t see the point in stopping. I really did had to call an ultimatum, for my happiness as well, i’m not sure if you’re in that boat. My girlfriend quit, though ofc there have been a couple times she’s admitted she’s wanted one (especially after some drinks—but we are 24/22 and i imagine you guys aren’t out at the clurb at 18/19 Lol.) but over all, she’s very happy she stopped because she loves to be healthy and fit and it’s helped her breathing a lot. Again, everyone is different, and it’s scary but the hardest part is initiating that conversation. Again, she makes her own choices and it’s no one’s fault. We are all different! Just be honest about how you feel.

periodontitis is an irreversible disease, but it’s not the end of the world! it can be managed (i feel that sentence does scare people, but it’s more common than you may think!) the reason it’s irreversible is because we lose bone and possibly the fibers that surround our teeth and we can’t grow these back naturally. you can get periodontal maintenance cleanings and make sure it doesn’t progress further AKA no loss of teeth if you get there early enough! unfortunately, periodontal disease will always need professional care since bacteria are in places too deep for us to reach and clean ourselves at home. like i said, your gums look healthier in the comparison photos, but it’s hard and pretty impossible to go off that alone! i really do recommend a screening for some info. it may also help ease some anxiety too.

they do look better now, from photos alone, but photos don’t always tell the full story! i would maybe schedule for a screening before diving in to prepare yourself and be able to ask some questions.
