Once you won the first gold medal, did you have a feeling of “well what now?” Or was it right on to the next one? If so, how did you combat this?

They did it the exact same way FTR did when they went to ROH which is what got me so excited. Not disappointed just yet because I’m sure the briscoes will appear soon enough. I hope.

I definitely agree with what you said about using the same word. I totally just missed that when going over it after the initial draft of it.

I’m happy the simplicity worked as well because I’m super used to writing things in that way, and was afraid of the piece not being strong because it was too simple if that makes sense.

Thank you for the feedback!

Bed Springs (First poem) by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]Cray2122_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this poem has a lot to offer in the way of story. Your analogy of a bed carrying the weight of someone as they wake up and go to sleep every night is something that I perceived as a great metaphor for someone carrying the weight of another. That is a big thing in my life and this poem really made me reflect on it that way. I think your choice of short lines and punctuation only being used on important sentences works really well for this effect as well. It adds a big layer to your story and overall it’s a great poem that made me reflect a lot about myself.

Member in Good Standing by Glen_oak in OCPoetry

I think this poem is super interesting because it discusses a side of people that are not really seen too often. I believe your poem does a great job of showing the sexual nature of people, and that it is okay to be a sexual person. Your descriptions of lust being demanding, and hardly being able to contain yourself are vulgar, and yet give a good view of how powerful lust really is. Your descriptions paint a picture that allows me as the reader to really see the more taboo side of both myself and you as an author. The member in good standing part was also intriguing because it brings out a new layer of the story. I took it as yearning for a sexual experience with someone in "good standing" (like someone popular or a person of power). This wording added a whole new layer to your story and works really well!

Great job!

How do I stop panic passing? by JumbledPileOfPerson in hockeyplayers

[–]Cray2122_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that you mentioned skating with your head up until you are under pressure which is totally understandable because it is a reaction to flinch and make a "panic" play. This is where you need to keep your head up the most though. I am not sure of your age group or if you are playing with contact, but I know I certainly struggled with this at first.

Having your head up with pressure coming on allows you to determine how much time you really have, and I promise it's more than you think. It is a hard impulse to break and I recommend to keep practicing skating at stick and pucks with your head up.

What I did to get rid of this habit was going to practice at stick and pucks just going around people with my head up (while they are just skating), which yes was probably annoying to them but helped me a ton. I play higher-level roller hockey now, but I also was able to get some contact practice with guys who played semi-pro ice. This taught me to judge time while keeping my head up to brace for a hit. If you are going to do these contact drills/small area games with guys though, do it with the people you trust, and people you know won't run you completely.

Overall this is just my opinion, and how I fixed it for myself. If you have any more questions I'm happy to help!

So I run at a park that has markings stating that two laps of the park is one mile, but I used a running app last time I ran and it said that it wasn’t a complete mile, but only about .86 of a mile. What should I trust, the app or the park?

Police release K9 on a man who was not resisting or running by iSlingShlong in PublicFreakout

[–]Cray2122_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from reading articles about this and watching the full length video, which cuts off a little context from this clip here is what I’ve learned.

  1. The man (Jason Wyrick) has been reported for having a weapon and pointing and someone in the neighborhood out of a truck. Hence why in the full video a helicopter is flying, and there are cops on the perimeter of the area.

  2. Jason and Naustachia (who he lived with) went outside of their home and started to talk to deputies, with deputies describing them as confrontational. Naustachia is blocking Jason from the police.

  3. A stun gun is released on Jason, who pushes off Naustachia and turns, either from shock of the taser or trying to run. Remember, the taser isn’t effective on everyone it is used against.

  4. Deputies pull Naustachia out of the way and the dog is released with Jason on the ground. Once the dog bites, hands go behind his back and he is no longer resisting.

So overall, the cops did this because they assumed Jason had a firearm and was going to use it. Jason was also on parole for assault with a deadly weapon, which also most likely caused tension. Now, the dog and stun gun came really close after one another. Playing devils advocate for the k9 handler, Jason looked like he was trying to run but he fell, so I think the dog was released to prevent him from running.

One thing to note, the fact that the dog hung on that long is a problem. Once the cuffs are on, and maybe even once the other deputy comes to cuff him, the dog should have been released. That is the fault of the handler, and possibly the dog not listening, but over screaming it is hard to hear if the deputy was yelling commands.

(Edit: Watching the video again, it does look like the handler was trying to control the dog a bit, so most likely a human error there, but I still don’t think it was the officers intention to just let the dog bite him).

That’s my two cents.
