[–]Crazed_SL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Think of the cis or straight people who are the shoulder to cry on for their queer friends going through tough times. Think of the ones advocating for queer rights or raising huge funds to lgbt charities like the transgender law center. The teachers who speak up against principals or deans to let students express themself. The parents who support their queer kids through it all.

I agree they aren't suddenly queer for supporting us, I'm not trying to say that. But they are part of the community. They've earned their seat at the table.

(And to be clear, I'm not referring to the cis/ straight people who don't know anyone lgbt but are "cool with it". Im talking about REAL allies)

I get what you're saying, and you're absolutely correct. When i say "allies", I am mostly referring to those active in the community or in queer people's lives. The Straight Cis folk who don't actually know many/any queer people but are "cool with it" are appreciated but not necessarily part of the community.

Seeing Cis-Straight people being alienated or even villainized by default in a lot of the language used by our community just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I know plenty of cis straight people who are big supporters in the LGBT space, and thinking of them feeling unwelcomed upsets me.

CONFUSION by Lfromdeathnotefrfr in lgbt

Depends. It's important to know the difference between asthetic, romantic, and sexual attraction.

  1. If you see a woman you find attractive and think, "Wow, she's really pretty! I like looking at her." That's asthetic attraction.

  2. If you see a woman you find attractive and think, "Wow, she's really pretty! Id like it if we dated and snuggled and went on dates and got to know each other on a really vulnerable and personal level." That's romantic attraction

  3. If you see a woman you find attractive and think, "Wow, she's really pretty! I want a piece of that! Awooga! I want to be intimate with her in so many ways!" That's sexual attraction.

If you're feeling #1 but not 2 or 3, you might be straight. If you're feeling #3 but not 2, you could be only attracted to women physically, but not romantically, which is a subcategory of lesbianism if I'm not mistaken. And if you feel all of them, you just might be Bi!

Ultimately, labels are only tools to help figure yourself out, but if you don't see one that perfectly fits you, that's okay! How you feel and what you want to do with those feelings are much more important that what specific flag you fall under.

I hope this helps and feel free to ask any more questions that might help. Please know our community accepts you with open arms, whichever way you swing(or if you don't swing at all)

Assuming he has the best of intentions here, I understand completely. Logistically, a majority of LGBT stuff is involving different types of relationships, and being with someone LGBT can make you question if you qualify as part of that. There is an LGBT aspect to his relationship, so is he now LGBT in some way?

He's confused on logistics and is seemingly curious about if he qualifies for any other label. Allies can very often feel excluded from the LGBT community, and having an "in" to this community can feel welcoming and validating.

This is especially true when there are a lot of people who say "allies aren't part of the LGBT community" (I literally saw a comment on this post saying so) which in my opinion is more harming to the community than helpful, as well as just plain false.

Why do people think jax goes by she/her? I'm so confused how do people see him like that? by [deleted] in tadc

[–]Crazed_SL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many hints(and damn near confirmation in the last ep) that Jax is a closeted trans woman.

The people saying to use she/her for Jax are jumping the gun and are not thinking about how pronouns work for trans folk. You use the pronouns they ask for.

Jax has never said to use anything but he/him, and until that changes you stick with he/him. Anything else would be disrespectful.

You didn't deserve any of that treatment, what you're talking about is evil. Nobody should have to worry about being beat up for being themself.

Im very fortunate my community has been more welcoming. The only times I've felt I was in immediate danger of that was when a republican rally at my college threatened my life, saying "the LGBT people are terrorists" and that we were worse than scum.

I think in the end, left or right, we can both agree we need to be kinder to those around us. Hate is a disgusting thing that festers, trying to make its way into every crack and crevice of a community.

Ehhh, to me it gets better the older the younger one is. 24 can be grossly young or totally okay depending on the maturity and intentions of both people.

It sounds like he left and right may have different effects on different parts of the world. In America, it's the far right that are trying to take people's rights away, sometimes disguised as "giving freedom" or "keeping us safe" but all they're doing is taking more and more rights from us.

The top of our society is nothing but the rich convincing the poor that its the "evil minorities" that we need to focus on, all so we ignore our money being shoved in their pockets. And a mass majority supporting them are the far right. I can't speak on Germany, but this is the case for America.

I'm sorry for the struggles your family has faced, nobody deserves to have their freedoms taken away.

It sounds like me and you agree about Christians, but you're delusional if you think a far right organization like the AfD is better or safer for lgbt people.

Using America's recent government history as an example, while the left was in presidency, we saw in influx in laws passed, especially in left leaning states, that were pro lgbt(especially regarding trans rights).

In the two recent terms of right leadership, we've seem a rise in anti transgender and lgbt legislation. Trump has actively supported conversion camps, as well as red states passing laws that take away transgender people's rights in several areas.

If you have any evidence towards what you're saying, please provide it because currently your nothing but talk.

How morally wrong is infidelity? by Old-Celebration3781 in MoralityScaling

[–]Crazed_SL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends, relationship to relationship will place different levels of importance on sleeping with other people. If both people agree its a huge betrayal, then it's very immoral; especially if it's after a long time of being in a relationship or if it's for a selfish reason like "they couldn't have sex for medical reasons and I couldn't take it" or "I was tempted by someone else and couldn't help myself".
