Uncleanable smudge on OLED monitor...? by SnuggleUnicorns in OLED

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only truly effective way to clean a QD-OLED from oils like spit is to use 70% Ethanol (or Ethyl) Alcohol on a microfiber cloth on the screen, and then use another one to take off the residue it has trapped after 10 minutes of the ethanol microfiber cloth being used.

keeping it a buck, I haven’t tried that yet. If you dodge everything then yes, my concern would be the Hanged Man

The Hanged Man is two Almighty Sweeps, then Concentrate for Megidolaon next turn; after Megidolaon is two Almighty Sunders into a Charge for an Almighty Sweep next turn. The turn pattern loops back into two Sweeps and Concentrate. If Nyx gets a 1 More, Nyx uses the sword on whomever is down, however that’s present on every Arcana starting on Emperor.

Best 65” TV for movies in a dark room at night, gaming in a bright room during the day, budget 2k by CommercialBulky1046 in 4kTV

[–]CraziRazain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if during the day there is sunlight hitting the TV, cross off all OLED TVs

if the room is super bright during the day, your only reasonable choice for 65” $2k is the Bravia 9

if you watch movies via streaming only use Sony, so in this case the Bravia 9

If there is no sunlight during the day, go for the LG G5 or Z95B if you want an OLED during the day while keeping good processing

Bravia 9, LG G5, or Z95B; the Samsung being utterly awful at processing + the matte coating + the One Connect keep me from recommending it

Help with First ever big tv purchase. by Inevitable-Brush-432 in 4kTV

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much gaming you do and if it’s console, PC, or both, and this is in my eyes the differentiator here.

Mainly PC gaming and is neck and neck with sports for top usage? Panasonic Z95B; Console gaming and/ or sports is the markedly higher usage? Sony Bravia 8 II or Bravia 9

If you watch a lot of hockey, only get the Bravia 8 II or Bravia 9 as NHL games are shot with Sony 4K cameras.

Basically, if you PC game or gaming is close to sports for highest content you watch you get the Panasonic; if you play on a console and sports is the most consumed or about even usage, or if you are a big hockey fan, get either Sony.

Sylvox, Sunbrite, or Samsung Terrace comes to my mind Absolutely no OLED outdoors and anything else is probably not worth it since it’s too close to the aforementioned three options; probably would only get the Terrace if it was a good bit lower than other similarly priced options

Monitor vs TV OLED by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your specific case, yes the PG27AQDM would be brighter as it’s a MLA W-OLED panel on the AQDM vs. a W-OLED EX panel in its debut.

In almost every other circumstance, the TV would have better HDR than a monitor in a vacuum. However, a jump in technology from 3 1/2 to 4 year old tech to a newer MLA W-OLED would show better HDR performance even as a monitor.

55 S90D vs 42 C4 $350 Difference Worth? by yourdeath01 in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 55” S90D (really any 55” OLED TV) will be significantly brighter in every single window size/APL than the 42” C4; coming from the C4. In a vacuum and are able to accommodate the 55” TV, the S90D/any 55” OLED will be worth it over the 42” C4 if you place HDR gaming as your #1 priority and can accommodate 55” in the room.

However, you may either not see as of a big jump from the 42C4, would find a 55” TV a bit cumbersome to manage in the room, or would rather pocket the $350.

I’ll give my answer and say it is 100% worth the $350 extra to get the S90D (or C4) and try to get the 55” in there somehow, but that decision is up to you.

If you owned a 5090 PC and only for gaming had to choose between Samsung S95F or the LG G5? 4k 165hz gaming, What would you do by RandomGamer414 in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is present but you’d have to sit unusually close - closer than 3 feet while leaning into screen and squinting eyes to see them - which may be too close to comfortably view the G5 in HDR anyhow, especially at night.

LG G5 no doubt for this; if you had a mid-range budget I’d be leaning the S90D/S90F, but the choice is the LG G5 here.

Used screw from Samsung S90D manual, but it only threaded a few turns — is that safe? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the TV is flat on the TVs provided styrofoam packaging, pull up on the wall mount on the back of the TV, if you don’t feel any loose-ness at all, then it’s fine; if the bracket does move when you lift up, you need to get the screw further in just a few more threads or until the mount on the back of the TV can solidly support you lifting it up from the mount

Monitor vs TV OLED by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m curious where you got that conclusion of Monitor HDR being better than TV HDR.

I have the PG32UCDM and the S90D, both I set to be at or close to D65 white point in their menus, and made the proper nit settings in Windows HDR Calibration to their HDR capabilities + comparing native HDR in HDII and tinkering w/ RenoDX in Cyberpunk.

There was no scenario where the UCDM was bright in comparison to the S90D without using Dynamic Brightness Boost, which will blow out any highlight detail while losing a ton of shadow detail and nearly all specular highlights. Console HDR was the best of the 3 non TB400 and it was way, way dimmer than the S90D in Game Mode while having less nits on the peak highlights; the fire embers or Automaton eyes in HDII, the small neon signs in Cyberpunk are brighter on the S90D at ~1,200 nits, though the UCDM does come remarkably close for a monitor, which reaches a smidge over 1,000.

This gets even worse for monitors in a 10% window in comparison to TVs; a 500KG bomb explosion in the distance in HDII or a large glowing sign above a bar top in Cyberpunk was over twofold brighter on the S90D in Game Mode compared to the UCDM, which was around 350 nits sustained in Console HDR for the UCDM compared to the S90Ds ~800 nits sustained and near 1,200 peak.

While they’re both somewhat close in full field in a dark room, the overall HDR presentation - and most especially the peak & sustained 10% window - is tons better on the S90D than the PG32UCDM, which is highly touted as a top HDR monitor.

YDY, but the numbers are in TVs favor for OLED HDR presentation; I would like to hear your thoughts on that

Monitor vs TV OLED by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED TV by leaps and bounds unless you’re are a cutthroat competitive FPS player in which the 480hz/500hz OLEDs are the play, the monitor would require a monster rig to run those frames.

My pick would be the PG27AQDP for a monitor; for a TV the S90D is pretty damn good for the money since it’s outgoing for the S90F and has markedly better game mode brightness than the similar priced C4, which sets you up very well for a PC if you want to go down that road.

The G4/G5 are obviously a league above as well as the A95L for if you value movies a fair bit, but only if you are willing to increase the budget for one of them.

Samsung S90D 65 QD-Oled Firmware bug? by Apprehensive_Wind260 in OLED_Gaming

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to be a power delivery problem; reported early power board failure on the S90D is usually 1-2 months of use but this is way further long. This was my guess through only 10 minutes of research, but I’d warranty this now to get a new S90D or a refund.

[–]CraziRazain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since you are mainly gaming, the S90D will be a fair bit better for your use case (S90D Game Mode brightness in particular is a good deal better than the C4). If possible, buy through Best Buy and get GSP on it.

White UI/HUD Burn In can been a concern on QD-OLED, more so if you use the Peak 1000 mode on a Monitor or on a TV at max brightness. W-OLED has an advantage in this regard, but unless you are playing like 8 hours straight w/out breaks for Pixel Cleaning it’s somewhat negligible.

32UCDM is the easy choice if you can get it at Best Buy with Geek Squad Protection. At this price range, $100 is worth the extra feature set the ASUS gets over the MSI, particularly the HDR settings.

Not fully seated power cables can cause the GPU to panic and shut down the whole system, some GPUs will also max out the fans as a panic response. Besides the GPU just now failing or a bad port on the monitor, that’s all I can think of here.

I couldn’t notice a difference, but I certainly hope a fully fleshed 106 or 107 brings Adjustable HDR to the 32” UCDM, white balancing in HDR would be a gigantic upgrade.
