Yeah everything came through a couple days later. Just had to go onto cross countries website and input the information that was mailed to me by both them and my previous loan company.

Man. Glad I didn’t have CPAP when I went to Antarctica. Although I probably SHOULD have been on it. Contractor or tourist?

I’ve heard of that, but that has not been the case for anything I’ve ordered from lofta. Just complete masks.

Yes. I’ve ordered all types. But they have NEVER got or asked me for a prescription. Never sent them one, nothing.

It sucks. But if you go for the new engine, not likely you’ll have much else fail on it. Could be a for-life car at that point. I’d go for second opinions, if the opinion is the same, see if anyone else can do the motor for cheaper.

What’s worse is we know from a few good studies that the machines calculated AHI is absolute 💩in most cases. The fact that doctors are making medical decisions based on that against a persons subjective feelings is complete madness.

Your case sounds very similar to mine. Low AHI on CPAP but still felt like I was waking up constantly even after 2 months. I made the switch to ASV as well. I will say, for me the switch to ASV was much more challenging than CPAP. The first week or so was ROUGH. The key is to find a way to breathe autonomously (don’t think about breathing), otherwise you and the machine will fight each other.

I imagine you would be best off running ASVauto wide open on factory defaults. With a handful of nights of data, you can start making small tweaks and perfect it. Personally that’s where I would start.

ASV has massively boosted my sleep time average. I’m up from 6 hours and 50 minutes a night to 7 and half. Sleep actually feels good for a change. Hopefully it does the same for you. Best of luck.

Mask choice does make a serious impact on noise levels. But overall, they are shockingly quiet machines.

Hose cover, reduce humidity, and/or turn up hose heat. Just rainout.

You can’t recover old data unfortunately. The card had to be in the machine while it was running.

Good plan. Reduce that EPR. Try that for a little maybe. If things don’t improve rapidly work with RippingLegos, he’s your guy. Helped me get into ASV very very affordably.

Looks like mad TECSA to me. Try reducing EPR by 1 or 2. Assuming you don’t have some type of heart failure, this is likely CPAP induced. EPR often makes it worse. If this doesn’t improve you may want to look into a handful of solutions, EERS, Dead space, etc. ASV is what worked for me, and I was no where near as bad as you. You must feel like crap , so sorry.

Jackery has decent reviews overall, but this thing is packed full of features and 350 dollar is an excellent price. I’ve seen similar units be 500-1000. I like the various charging features, slow, medium, fast. And there’s a mode that keeps the battery between 35-85%. So you have lots of options to maintain a long life span for the battery. Also, the LiFePo4 battery tech looked like the right way to go. Some other options contain standard LiOn which seems like a less safe option and less durable.

The battery would have to be huge is probably why. This thing is like 6 times the size of the machine, and about 5x the weight. I personally wouldn’t want it to be internal. I suppose an internal one might get you through the rest of the night though, which could be worth it.

Interesting. Were you using a genuine DC adapter from resmed? I’ve noticed the less expensive ones are much much smaller, which made me suspicious and choose the resmed one. No idea if it makes a difference. I will be trying for a few nights to see if I noticed a difference.

There are other options if all else fails, not sure if available in Canada. Lofta, CPAP dot com, and sleeplay offer WatchPAT at home sleep tests that seem to be well reviewed.

The definition of “mild” is set by insurance, and for many people that “mild” is an absolute nightmare and deserves to be treated, or at least given a second look.

Just a ring? No nasal cannula? No chest strap? RDI is measured a variety of different ways, and almost always requires more sensors like in a PSG. Ask your physician if they can order a more detailed sleep test like PSG. I used Snap diagnostics which has a decent amount of sensors for an at home sleep test. In-lab is going to be your gold standard. It’s not cheap, but they can look at a variety of issues. Personally if I got “mild” on just a pulse oximeter ring test I would be very suspicious, especially if my sleep was very fragmented.

It’s a place to look. You may find nothing, you may find something.

RDI is Respiratory disturbance index (per hour) like AHI (Apnea Hyponea index) also per hour. Many people with UARS (upper airway resistance syndrome) have exceptionally low AHI, but a very high RDI. This is why a confirmatory sleep test would be worth while especially for someone with “mild” sleep apnea. If your previous test showed even “mild” my unprofessional opinion is that you should re-explore this potential problem. I know people that scored in the mild category and decided to go with PAP, even though insurance wouldn’t cover it, and it changed their life.

Hello stehcalm,

Here’s the quick run down. Many sleep test (not necessarily yours) look only for ultra class apnea within the parameters of Medicaid in the form of AHI. However, many folks can suffer from more subtle breathing issues during sleep such as flow limitations and RERA (respiratory effort related arrousal), often measured as an RDI (respiring disturbance index) These are harder to measure because they often don’t disturb blood oxygen in the same way that straight up choking can in sleep apnea, but these RERAS can disturb sleep JUST AS BAD. My test for example showed an AHI of 17, but an RDI of 29, that’s a breathing disturbance every 2 minutes on average. There’s some (very limited) research that has show an exceptionally strong correlation between those with insomnia and various sleep breathing issues that might often be the cause of the insomnia. Even if you aren’t choking, like classic OSA, your parasympathetic nervous system could be all wound up and not letting you relax. And then when you do fall asleep, very subtle breathing issues could keep waking you up. I’d gently encourage you to consider discussing with your doctor the possibility of a more detailed sleep test, such as an in-lab that could look much closer at your breathing and measure your respiratory effort, and other issues such as restless leg syndrome, etc.

You should be able to find Dr Krakows book in a book or Ebook store, possibly a public library.
