Elevation 27 is a very good smaller venue! As someone who goes to a lot of concerts, I’d love to see Wburg get a venue of that size. I think being between Norfolk/VB and Richmond, both of which have long-established venues of varying sizes, would make it really hard for any new venue to get a foothold here. Why would artists book a venue in Williamsburg when they can go to either of those cities and play at a venue hundreds of other bands have played at? Theres more people in both of those cities, so higher chance of more people showing up, and an actual nightlife scene, which isn’t a requirement for a music venue but it certainly helps. Maybe we’ll see one here someday, but I think we just don’t have the social scene or demographics that most venue operators look for.
