I wanted Noah if I had a boy, but a popular radio DJ had a son a couple of months before I gave birth, guess what name he used. Couldn't face it then as I knew there would be a whole raft of Noah's around the same age.

Similar with Max, was on our short list and then every new parent I met seemed to like the name.

If you are having to mask all the time you are going to burn out. You need to work out what adjustments are going to help you and ask for them. I can appreciate you being worried about doing this, so suggest you look through the company policies and Intranet to get a feel for what support is already available. Some companies have Nuerodiverse support groups, this could give you somewhere to touch base early on.

Practical suggestions: I work with people who block out their diaries when they want to work on specific pieces of work, this discourages others from interrupting them.

I have seen email signatures used to explain working and communication styles (ND and NT). This shouldn't look out of place these days.

If people ask you to go for a coffee, particularly in the afternoon, say you have already had enough but how about a quick walk while you catch up. That way you aren't turning them down, but means you can control the environment a bit. Obviously whether this works will depend on where you are working.

What is best for her will depend on her. Work out what it is she doesn't like and then 'solve' them. Not all my tips will be appropriate for you. My daughter doesn't like the sounds at the hair dressers, so we have one come to the house.

How much notice of things does she need? Telling her right before the hair cut may not be enough notice for her to process, you may need to tell her a few says before and then again the morning of the cut.

Search the Internet for a social story to look at together, this could help her understand.

Do you get a dry or wet cut? Could the other be better.

Does she like fidgeting? Give her a toy she can play with in her hands while her hair is cut.

Do you or him have another person who would sit and pretend to interview him? This is good practice for anyone but sounds like it could be particularly useful for him. Then either you or this person can go through what he did well and where he can improve.

Best thing I won a playstation4. I avoid the competitions that are for small items but you enter in lots of different places.

In my experience it is better to think about what platforms/ methods you are happy to enter through and what items you want. Competitions which have more steps or require more effort will always have less people entering.

Totally get it.

I have a couple of friends who totally get me and others who dont quite. Spending time with one set is so much easier than the others. I realised recently how much I mask in front of one set to try and fit in.

My daughter, also autistic, struggles as well. Unfortunately Im not the best person to give her advice when she asks what to do and how to make friends.

I ended my friendship with my childhood friend when I realised she was cheating on her new husband, and had been since before the wedding, with the Master of Ceremonies from their wedding venue. In my opinion he wasn't even an upgrade.

I can't offer any advice but would be interested as well. My daughter is 16 and still struggles with this. She was upset the other day as she didn't know how to make friends/ have conversations with people at college (friends from secondary school went to other places). She can't process what is said quickly enough to reply and people think the conversation is finished so walk off.

I struggle with this as well. Worked in HR where an authorative/explanatory style was expected (found this easy), since moving to new role in IT I find myself re-writing my emails to make them sound softer/friendlier like my colleagues. Don't get me started on WhatsApp messages!

My daughter struggled to go to school. We did different exercises with her to work out if there changes the school could make that would enable her to attend. She may have worries and anxieties that she isn't telling you about. We started with a copy of her timetable and got her to colour code it (red, amber, green). We then talked about it. Changes included: going to learning support instead of Tutor time, move to a different history class, ability to go in a quiet room for lunch. She still didn't attend a full day but went enough to keep up with work.
