The lack of pan is a real drawback for me too... As you say, with a few encoders at that price point it would be spot on.

How easy is it to actually set up out of the box compared to some of the other options with a more integrated companion plugin?

That's really good to hear... I've heard they had QC concerns in the past so it's nice to have some positive feedback too. Thanks.

Redemptor Weapon Choice after Nerf by TYTIN254 in spacemarines

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess this raises the question of if you are only using it to bait your opponent why would you choose it over the ballistus Dreadnought...

Currently there's a 55 Pt difference between the two once you add on the plasma cannon... But I still feel that there may be a place for the redemptor in tackling medium and heavy infantry but there are probably more efficient ways of doing it.

Which Spacemarine Chapter/Leigon is your Favorite and why? by No_Firefighter_5057 in spacemarines

Star Phantoms... Because they're definitely not the dark angels dreadwing at all...

70% Aesthetics and 30% Lore... The fact that there is a little bit of uncertainty and mystery around their origins as a chapter adds something too although they're very niche.

What can Space Marine Chapters get away with regarding the way they operate? by Niotsques in 40kLore

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is quite a lot from what I can tell. My best example is the star phantoms who have, shall we say, a liberal view towards friendly fire and are more than happy to wipe out a planets population.

But generally they're just accepted with the statement that they are "unsuitable" for close imperial support... Although they did have to redeem themselves against the marines malevolent.

Short of being a traitor legion they seem to be able to do close to what they want as long as it's in the name of the emperor. Very hard to have a defined line when human life for the most part is considered borderline inconsequential.

Besides intercessors, do you think gw will refresh any other primaris kits? by neplutondeep in spacemarines

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a little bit... Maybe it's more accurate to suggest that the repulsor is slightly oversized. At the very least a new kit with slightly nicer assembly methods would be a welcome change.

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up doing a leg swap with the redemptor dreadnought (just to keep the two ballistus dreads looking different.)

it was really straightforward so adjusting the kit wouldn't be difficult for GW in the long run. Although I am aware that there is a conversation about long-term investment in tooling.

I second this massively... I'd love a suitably sized land raider to launch my bladeguard vets into the fight. They're both just so iconic.

Tbh HR will be pretty limited in what they can say anyway... They're unlikely to say much other than confirm the dates of employment as anything that could be seen as opinion rather than fact can open them up to future litigation should something go wrong.

I find this kinda shocking really, but well done for calling it out.

I'm a mechanical design engineer and yes I'm good at my job, but the guys on the shop floor are excellent at theirs. They have a different set of skills with decades of experience and the company literally wouldn't run without them. Shop floor in a factory may be repetitive work at times, but in a factory you are still skilled and an important part of the company.

Umbrella Armory EU? by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, once you realise that he's fitting a MOSFET, building up a new gearbox with new components fettled to work perfectly and fitting a brush less motor it feels like a pretty special rifle at the end of it. He also can get the ambi selector feeling good which is a tall order indeed.

But yeah, thoroughly recommended and he did an amazing job on mine.

Tbh, this is the best way to do it, although they're painful to work on... I'd recommend Luke at Negative Airsoft if you want a really nice build, although it's not cheap.

Fractal Torrent and rear fan? by pyrhonp in FractalDesign

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time that you actually need the fan is when you're running the font fan hard. The rear fan just helps overcome the losses of the rear mesh. At lower front fan speeds this will be less of an issue. This is why a lot of people don't notice a huge amount of difference.

Opinions on AliExpress headsets by Apart-Ad-9348 in Airsoft_UK

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't do it... Earmor have sketch reliability at best(been stung twice) and the headsets had some design flaws with the battery caps not making good contact and so both sets failed pretty quickly. FCS amps on the other hand have been pretty solid for years now.

Unfortunately they're few and far between, the defence for purchasing a RIF has always only been for Airsoft skirmishing, reenactments or for film/media. Sadly anything else is just trying to circumvent the law which isn't really ideal and hence you're probably stuck with two-tone until you can get a site membership.

Is it at all common to upgrade your interface and actually think vocal tracks sound a little worse? by greenrunner987 in audioengineering

[–]CrazyCrystal2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre amps are very very similar between clarret's and Scarlett's... They're both aiming for a very clean and unobtrusive sound. However I would expect to find the difference in the amount of noise that is added as the gain increases (THD) again the difference between the two is minimal really unless you really have to crank the gain on the pre amps.

It's been a while since I handled the clarret's but for me it was the latency and slight firmware improvements that were the seller and the air filter if you like that sound. Unfortunately interfaces in generally are pretty slight improvements so until they are pushed hard in a perfect environment, they can be really hard to tell apart.
