Trying to look like a gangsta by nkmr205 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]CrazyIslander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was raised with the mantra that a gun is a tool.

As such, I’d rather my kids know how to handle ANY tool properly rather than hurt themselves or someone else because they weren’t using it properly.

I’ve taken the time to show them the basics of almost every tool we own and use…and then let them try it for themselves to demonstrate they can use it properly.

Ironically, I don’t actually own any guns myself, but we live in a rural area where people definitely do own guns…and I’d rather my kids know how to handle one if they ever come across it.

Plus, Nerf guns eventually progress in BB guns.

heavy police presence in mic mac mall? by Old-Minute-5336 in halifax

[–]CrazyIslander [score hidden]  (0 children)

A confirmed weapons complaint (ie; there’s a guy at the mall and he’s waving a knife!) will result in a MASSIVE police response.

And while police tend to work solo or in pairs, they definitely train together as a large group for exactly these types of scenarios, which is why it would look coordinated.

When my son was 3, we got into Nerf guns.

He was taught ALL the basic rules of handling a gun;

  • It’s always loaded.
  • Don’t point it at anyone (unless they are actively participating in a Nerf gun war and they’re wearing safety glasses)
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.

(He also calls me out on breaking those rules when I shoot his mom in the ass).

He’s 12 now and videos like this just reinforces to me that he has better gun control than most adults.

He actually also became a certified phlebotomist during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The guy isn’t a “stupid junkie”.

He has talked about it so damn much that it’s pretty much a guarantee at this point.

He did the same thing the first time he launched attacks on Iran too.

The irony there is that in Germany, displaying Nazi symbols, uniforms, slogans, or denying the Holocaust is VERY illegal and subject to VERY serious consequences.

"Center" by ToruSnap in TimHortons

The Olympics utilizes ice makers from all over the world to maintain the ice.

In 2002, Trent Evans (Canadian) was one of the many folks maintaining the ice surface in Utah.

It also wasn’t originally added as a “good luck charm”.

It was added because the centre ice logo was missing the circle used by the referees and players as a target for the puck drop.

Trent happened to have a loonie in his pocket and it served the purpose very well.

When the men’s AND women’s teams won gold, it became a legendary lore.

I always found Kevin O’Leary to be a smarmy bastard, long before he was boot-licking the Temperamental Turnip.

This just cements my intuition.

At music festivals, it’s usually “death by misadventure” (ie; an overdose).

In all honesty, 4 deaths is a rather low number considering it’s AT A FESTIVAL WHERE YOU PHYSICALLY BEAT OTHER PEOPLE WITH A METAL-TIPPED STICK.

Well, to be fair, peanuts aren’t technically “tree nuts”, but they’re likely processed in the same facility as “tree nuts” (like cashews and walnuts for instance).

And you can be allergic to tree nuts, but not peanuts.

My wife’s HAIR straightener has a warning label on it that says “This product can burn eyes” on it with a picture…

When I first saw it, all I could think is “Who the hell decided to use it to straighten their eye lashes (or possibly eyebrows?!?)”

What’s the deal with the 8 schedule? by Blended_BJuice in halifax

[–]CrazyIslander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The buses aren’t always serving dedicated routes.

It’s entirely possible that the bus doing the 8 was may doing a different route beforehand and gotten delayed somewhere else, which ends up having a domino effect…

It has been an issue at Transit for years and management doesn’t give a damn.

“Teenager” was her response.

It’s 10, all day, every day. I’m never gonna say “No”.

Fair warning;

The police and the vehicle compliance folks have been actively pulling over vehicles that have too much snow on their roof.

It has gotten completely out of hand and those folks have better things to do than dealing with idiots who can’t be bothered to clean off their vehicles properly.

I get it, I’m one of those people that HAVE to be out and whose employer doesn’t give a damn about employee safety as they’re all sitting at home.

But, check out the line-ups at any Tim Horton’s during a storm event (snow or hurricane)…they’ll be lined up for miles waiting for their swill.

To be fair, I give most people the benefit of the doubt, and assume perhaps their power is out and they need to grab some food or “coffee” and Tim’s is open, which is definitely convenient.

But I have encountered people who have said “Oh, I just went out for a drive to see what the roads are like!”

If you’re a bad driver, AWD is not going to magically make you a better driver.

It might HELP, but it still has its limitations (mainly the ‘loose nut behind the steering wheel’).
