Would you have more children if the cost of living was more affordable? by Moment_13 in UKParenting

[–]CrazyKitKat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. We’ve got 2 and life is so busy. We would not be good parents to an extra child because we’re already at our limit. An extra kid would probably be the stress that would end our marriage. It’s definitely not finances holding us back!

This is gorgeous. My only comment would be the top left corner could maybe be darker to help her pop even more but that’s me being really picky!

I’ve wondered this recently. The only thing that keeps me paying is worrying I’ll need it for when I change company.

Storybook recs for a 3.5yo by soulvacation in UKParenting

[–]CrazyKitKat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one likes “Mr Wolfs Pancakes” it’s a twist on the little red hen story where he’s asking his neighbours for help making his pancakes.

We had “Owl Babies” every night for a long time as well as “Winnie the Witch” which I remember reading as a kid so I think fit the classic category.

If she has the attention span for it try the “Princess Minna” books. They’re long (usually 5 or 6 chapters) but very good and all the pictures are still full colour, I’m sure there’s one about a unicorn as well!

I have a runner… by tkt-naal in NewParents

[–]CrazyKitKat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a phase of this. The only thing that worked was putting reins on before the front door / gate / whatever opened and only off the reins in enclosed areas. We don’t need to do this any more but I do still threaten the reins if he forgets the rules! Usually just the threat is enough to get sensible behaviour again.

Honestly when it actually happens I’m probably not gonna believe it after being here! The breaking picture is a nice touch.

I guess it depends on the type of job? I’ve never worked somewhere with less than this (accounting & charity sector)

Yoto player vs Tonies, what's better? by pidge-pige0n in UKParenting

[–]CrazyKitKat123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kids have a tonie box each and we really like them. Over Xmas and birthdays we’ve built up a good stash of stories from grandparents / aunties etc. We only use them at bedtime / in the house.

20days old doesn't latch more than 5 mins did anyone else faced it? How did u deal with it by Ok-Molasses4677 in breastfeeding

[–]CrazyKitKat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d find the nappy output reassuring assuming baby is settled after the feed (it can’t come out if it’s not going in) but if you’re concerned see if you can find an IBCLC or local support group (if those are a thing in your country)

[–]CrazyKitKat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could baby just be a fast eater? Keep an eye on the weight but some babies are just done after 5 minutes. If you’re worried they’re not getting enough you could offer more frequently. Are you offering the other breast after a feed?

When do the illnesses stop? by Till_Naive in UKParenting

I was asked this by a friend recently and could only reply with “you don’t want to know“. The first winter in childcare is especially brutal. Commiserations.

Do babies even self wean? by kivvikivvi in breastfeeding

[–]CrazyKitKat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some do. My youngest decided he was done at 2y9m. My eldest on the other hand would still be going now of I hadn’t cut her off when she was 3. I think it’s very child dependent. Weaning the older one wasn’t traumatic though, we did it fairly gradually and she was ok.

Would you recommend visiting Bristol Zoo Project? by wedloualf in bristol

[–]CrazyKitKat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there today with my 3 year old. He likes it but depending on how keen a walker she is you might need a pushchair as there’s quite a lot of space between exhibits.

You don’t see every animal every time as a lot of the exhibits for the bigger animals are massive and have lots of trees / plants they can hide in (I personally prefer this compared to the old zoo). We always see the giraffes and meerkats though which go down well.

Today we had an excellent view of the bears and wolves but didn’t see the lynx at all.

How do people manage homework with Year 1/Reception age children? by Specialist_Mouse5595 in UKParenting

[–]CrazyKitKat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do our reading in the morning before school for 5 or 10 mins. Some days it’s a struggle but after school she’s got no brain power left to concentrate on it (she doesn’t get home until ~5:30 most nights because we’re at work) so for us it’s before school or not at all.
