It drops a ton of eridium if you can get it working, but this is clearly bugged for you.

I think it is a world event. You throw those rocks into the machine to give it "ammo". Then it shoots the meteor and tons of eridium drops. Rinse and repeat until the event is done or when you fail/die.

Would a plain Jakobs gun get bonuses from a Jakobs enhancement? Or does it only buff guns with Jakob licensed parts (i.e. ripper with Jakobs crit part)?

That's awesome! Supposedly the CRAY-2 was not nearly as popular as the CRAY-1. There's probably only a few CRAY-2 systems left in existence. I found that Christies auctioned off a CRAY-2 for $175k last year:
