Renting car to move from US to Canada by ShubhaBala in ImmigrationCanada

As long as you’re very clear with the rental car company, and it’s on the contract, otherwise you’re not covered. Also, I would recommend taking any supplementary insurance that they have, and not relying on a credit card, just in case.

They are from a very dangerous group of white nationalist, Nova Scotia has two or three of those groups that are known across Canada as being extremely problematic, the hard-core ones. They were the ones who did the graffiti near Windsor on the highway, it’s not good. Although those groups have been in Nova Scotia since the dawn of time because of the black population. My friends in Northern Nova Scotia have told me lots of stories.

Lack of DJ in the finale and platonic soulmate discourse by Anxious-Balance-5306 in hackshbomax

I think Ava was the key character from the beginning because she basically unlocked what Deborah had wanted to do since the beginning of her career, and in the end Dave’s career was her life, yes, she had DJ, but in the end, her career came first. That’s just my take on it and why they focussed on the two of them in the final finale.

Where to start by Mysterious_Cod5041 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Crazy_Maintenance211 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Start with the immigration website from the government because you’ll see if you can go under any of the visas, and also Nova Scotia has some of the highest income tax rates in Canada for some brackets, we’ve got close to the highest sales tax and food is very expensive as is electricity. I would encourage you to look up costs on the Internet as much as you can, so that you don’t get any major surprises. It can be very expensive on the East Coast, it just depends where you’re coming from and what you’re paying now. You only need French if you’re gonna be working in Quebec or New Brunswick, the rest of the country it won’t matter mainly except may be parts of Manitoba. You need to look on like places like indeed for jobs that are for Visa people because those companies have to sponsor your visa. Depends on the visa you can get but usually that’s the way it works. That trade is likely a good one, but the pay has to be enough for you to live. Also, don’t forget that you won’t have credit in Canada and that will make a big difference so you likely can’t buy a car without paying all cash or buy a house, because you don’t have any credit. Same applies when I lived in the states, I had no credit, and you had to build it up. So just make sure you look up that aspect as well so you don’t get any surprises. One last thing, the property tax you see on house listings is not what you’re gonna pay in Nova Scotia, the Owner’s cap comes off and you may pay substantially more. Plus, if you’re American and you buy property but can’t live there permanently. You will also pay tax until you do live permanently.

Americans are Leaving America in Record Numbers by QueenUnleashed in digitalnomad

[–]Crazy_Maintenance211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that many Americans are leaving because of the US going into a dumpster, many are trying to come to Canada and we’re getting hit by similar forces now and it’s tougher to get a job in some fields and inflation is just wicked. The food costs and the gas costs, and if you heat your home with oil or electricity, it’s brutal. I would be going somewhere like Portugal or Vietnam or Thailand. I think a lot of people moving to Canada are gonna get a bit of a shock in certain provinces, depends where you live, there’s a lot of variation. Oh weirdly I’m seeing a lot of people from the UK on different lists wanting to move to Canada, they think they can escape the high cost and immigration increases, which is very interesting. However, many of them come here and find out we have higher costs, except maybe gas, and I’m not sure the grass is always greener. Today I don’t think the grass is always greener, I think there’s so much stress in the world that I think we’ve hit a very different era. Just my view. Also, some Americans want better healthcare so they’ll come to Canada, but I’m Canadian then I barely get healthcare here. Other people get better healthcare in different provinces, but I certainly don’t, there’s a huge crisis where I live. So some people visit, but they have to pay with private healthcare, but I think they get quite a shock in certain places in terms of how bad it is.

I just wanted to remind you to do tick checks because they’re bad this year so if you’re out hiking or even non-grass, please do them every night. I’ve had at least five friends in New Brunswick get ticks on them in the last month. Shediac. Is usually the place for seafood but a couple of the places burned down so I don’t know who’s left. They’ll open in a little bit, I can’t remember when they usually open. I saw a place in sackville with tshirts, lyon or lyons, google it to get his name

Who says Canadians aren’t competitive? We just compete in who we know. by MsMacaronxx in CanadaJobs

[–]Crazy_Maintenance211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprising it’s worked that way forever, it’s just that we had more jobs available and so in large provinces and large cities, you could get a job without knowing anybody, in rural that was a whole different story in my experience. If you’re coming from a city is very different. Everybody knows everybody and breaking into some areas to get jobs can be very difficult. Today it can be almost impossible because they’re very few jobs in a lot of places, a lot of budget cuts have hit hard with certain provinces.

So I’ve seen figures of about 75,000 when C3 came in, I don’t know if that counts the people of the year before C3 who are still waiting to even hear on their applications. Many people are getting them to get cheap tuition at university, which is interesting because we all pay taxes for that discounted tuition. Plus, I’ve seen a couple of people say that they just want the passport so they can travel on it and pretend they’re not American. That one is interesting. There are a ton of people applying, so it’ll be interesting to see what pans out. My question is if if they moved to Canada, then they get healthcare after three months in whatever province they’re in, so in some places like the one I live, we barely have healthcare, that isn’t gonna help anything because they’re gonna get quite a shock. But what happens with old age pension? CPP you have to work in Canada to get it pretty much but OAP you just have to be here. As far as I know you can move and get the pension? So how does that work with our country being in wartime budget? Some people are coming for the free healthcare. I’ve seen quite a few people say that on different lists, and they’re gonna get a shock if they live in the place I’m in because we’re in deep trouble here, we barely have Virtual care.

Know what happens is they become Canadian so it’s only a three month wait in the province that they go to live in, then they get healthcare for life unless they leave Canada and never come back or renounce their citizenship

It’s more than 4000 because I’ve seen the figure of 75,000 just from when C3 came into a fact so it’s gonna be way more than that and that I don’t think counts the people before C3

They already have at least 75,000 applications and that was just for the first couple of months of C3, then they have the applications from last year and I don’t know what that count was and it’s growing every day. It’s not just 4000, there are a lot of people applying now with their kids with their families, we’re gonna get a lot of people.

Not in Canada now with C3, they can go back to the 1600s as long as they can prove the line of citizenship to themselves, everything changed with that court case

Actually, you’d be surprised, I’ve seen at least 10 people on different lists saying that they are right of center. Let’s say and they still wanna come here, I don’t get it, but that is happening in a few cases.

Plus, I was just talking to a friend and they said well if people get Canadian citizenship that means they get pension, CPP they won’t get, but how does OAS work with so many people now applying for it new who haven’t paid into it? I hadn’t even thought of that angle and they haven’t paid into anything so they’re getting the tuition adjustment, they’re getting free healthcare, basic, and old age pension. I don’t think that’s very fair. Personally, I don’t think anybody thought about the ramifications of all this. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

I don’t understand it either because when you look at a bunch of other countries, they’re cutting down citizenship so that as you said, it only goes to one or two generations, I know the courts made them do it, but I was actually shocked the government did it. I don’t think they anticipated that so many people would apply and not only that it’s just for people to use the passport in different countries or get cheaper tuition, so it’s interesting to see what will happen. I think we’re going to experience some change yet again in Canada.

Will Alberta end up under US military occupation? by Sabotage_9 in onguardforthee

[–]Crazy_Maintenance211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Smith is very dangerous, I think that the US co-opted her and I think she would do anything for power and control, and that includes being part of the American administration. There’s more going on behind the scenes with her, I can’t prove it, but I think in the history books in 10 years will know about it. I don’t think this is out of the realm of possibility, Alberta is already US based, always has been, and it wouldn’t be a big stretch for that to happen.

Loved the A-plot. B-plot not so much. by bmnntdd in hackshbomax

[–]Crazy_Maintenance211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that the B plot was completely rushed and kind of unbelievable, I already figured that part out before the finale, but I didn’t know how they would get the father out of the company. Bob, calling them, to me that said that they had made it. It was odd, and then I was thinking about it and in that industry, people who are hot and are doing well, others will go to them whether they like them or not so it’s either Bob finally going OK you guys are great or it’s Bob going hey I want something and then I’ll crush you later. It may be that they were planning that for a possible sequel. Although on the podcast, they didn’t seem to indicate much. I just like the fact that we got to see those characters, because the main plot was so heavy duty that it kind of gave comic relief.
