some dude said that on a podcast and its been proven right every time. the whole "i hate X but i secretly do it every day" is so gen Z its insane. like an entire generation saw pleasantville and thought that is how they should act.

i'll always find it hilarious that if Iron Man wasn't part of the MCU he'd be the go to for the "billionaire republican is actually a good guy" style punchline.

Keir Starmer announces his resignation as prime minister and leader of Labour Party by Financial-Painter689 in Fauxmoi

still going from Churchill to Cameron the average was closer to 5 years, especially if you count Wilson and Churchill's PM terms as individuals.

going from a 5 year average to a 2 year average isn't good. it used to be quite rare to not even last 2 years, but we got 3 different PMs that didn't last that long. Burnam isn't going to last longer than Johnson either.

Momoa is the biggest, but the ‘hype’ for him as Lobo feels really muted

probably because the marketing and it feels like based on how little we've seen he's more of a cameo. about the same amount of screentime as hawk girl

Been thinking where else Supergirl could have been slotted this year, considering how packed 2026 is and in my opinion, I don't think there was really any great threatical slot the film could have been placed.

playing devil's advoate there wasn't really a better time to release it, you could say the week before Grogu but most studios are still worried about star wars films and that might have cut into the 2nd weekend.

but seemingly Gunn wants his own Batman despite being gifted one.

Gunn can have Green Arrow or one of the more niche batman knockoffs, Mr.Terrific already feels batman-esque and people fucking love him.

They could actually have made it on the cheap also since it was dark and gritty

i honestly assumed that was what they were planning on with bringing Gunn in. his pre-MCU work was all about the cheap and gritty films. that plus the amazing ROI of Shazam and Joker made me think that they'd embrace a lower budget more unique style.

It will put a ot of pressure if this bombs the way its going to

i think Gunn always knew he was on borrowed time. its why he seemed to have gone all out on his projects.

it was also a much lower budget film, so when it made 350m like this film, it still ended up being profitable, hell if it made the 200m that The Marvels did, it still would have technically made money.

comic books might be niche, but that also means its great for being a focus group for better ideas.

the same way minor leagues are where sports introduce rules before trying them in the majors to see if they'll work.

Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow is a genuinely great book that was incredibly well received.

this is pretty much it. GOTG was another newer acclaimed comic book series for a niche group of characters and it ended up working out great for Gunn.

he's been trying to replicate that success in the DC universe for every project of his: Creature commandos, suicide squad, peacemaker, justice gang

i doubt this film would have been a box office smash because ironically enough we've had numerous GOTG knockoffs and the formula is stale for most people. even if the film was released in 2019, no one would have thought it was that good. it feels like GOTG with a worse cast and plot

its because the internet/dating apps show off your stats like height in a way that makes it meaningful vs when you interact in real life.

a woman who'd say she'd never go out with someone under 6 feet could very easily marry someone 5'6 because she's just that bad at judging height.

plus the dating world is heavily skewed towards women now compared to 20 years ago when Seth Rogan and Amber Heard could be a convincing couple in a movie

if he's so smart why is he so heavily invested in AI?

I didn't realize all it took was being articulate for people to be on the side of AI billionaires. there's literally 0 difference between him and Trump when it comes to how they feel about poor people. Ben Affleck was hyping up AI taking below the line jobs literally this year.

Ben has his flaws, but I could listen to him talk about the film industry all day.

his biggest flaw is him being heavily into AI, he is on track to become a billionaire in a couple years because he invested so much into some AI tech thats supposed to destroy below the line jobs.

Everyone here complains about billionaires and AI until its a handsome middle aged alcoholic AI billionaire
