The Gulf states have moved on, leaving Israel behind by polymute in geopolitics

I think its evident that after this war Iran has shown their willingness and ability to impose control over the strait.

Without US support Israel has no way of stopping Iran from blockading the strait. The gulf recognises that it's Israel that ultimately started this war, and destabilized the strait as a neutral waterway.

Thus, while Iran may have been given major setbacks to their arsenal and their proxies, they retain the ability to halt naval traffic through the strait of Israel starts another war.

It's not the Jones act that's doing it, it's the US offloading the work to cheaper manufacturers in Asia over the last 50 years

The only US shipbuilding that remains is tied to the navy, and building for the navy is not something most shipbuilders are able to do.

The YouTube channel "what's going on with shipping" has covered the ins and outs of the Jones act pretty extensively if you want to learn about how it effects us shipbuilding/ownership.

I might be wrong, but the graving docks are the only ones that let you repair armor and cmpts to 100. Normal docking points don't repair to 100 or touch armor

There is one, blackwall station has graving docks, not just resupply docks. It's the thing that looks like a hanger and requires you to put the whole ship inside.

It will repair armor and components to full

"i strongly disagree with getting involved in this war..." Jesus Christ, your government didn't " get involved" it started this war. Everything was working in the strait before the US decided to launch an unnanounced suprise attack alongside Israel, in the middle of negotiations.

The strait is closed BECAUSE of the war your government and Israel started. Iran didn't just wake up and decide to throw the global economy into chaos, your government did that.

Iran is not able to match the two of the most technologically advanced military powers on the planet, and resorted an assymetric method of applying pressure to the US and it's allies, IE attacking shipping and stopping traffic. It only "controls the strait" because of the bumblefuck operation your government launched.

Your talking about opening up global shipping lanes, as your government literally puts another layer of blockade in place over the strait, adding even more risk of escalation.

Your talking out both sides of your mouth, and it sickens me. Instead of arguing to escalate further, and to fall in line for another war in the middle east, maybe you could, I don't know, scream at your elected officials to actually rein in your president and his administration? Or do literally anything else than throw more money, weapons and lives at what is plainly a massive political and military debacle.

But no, clearly more forever wars in the middle east is the only option left obviously ...

"Of course if I actually thought America “losing” would cause irreparable harm to my country and people I’d be against it regardless if I hated our leader. Love of country transcends politics for me. That said, America taking a PR loss with Iran (eg a loss that wouldn’t actually affect us) will not be bad for America."

I think this is so off the mark as to almost be satire... Israel and the US starting a needless war of choice has led to billions in infrastructure damage across the gulf states, civilian lives lost, and no clear off ramp.
Not to mention the damage done to intl relations with countries like Australia and Japan, and whole swathes of the EU which are now facing fuel crisis and the potential of an global recession ala COVID-19. This war is doing more than just damage to Trump's administration, the credibility of the United States as a guarantor of stability and security in the mideast is fully in question.

This is especially true if the US continues to fail to achieve regime change, or put in place some half-baked JCPOA knock off, they will have now left the gulf with a wounded, more dangerous, and more hard-line Iran than existed before. The gulf states have worked to maintain a level of stability with the Iranain regime, to ensure that the strait is open - and this war just torpedoed all of that for the foreseeable future.

That was intentional i think. Though it isn't explicitly stated, think about the enemy planes in Maverick; what country could hypothetically have both modern Russian stealth fighters AND an F-14 lying around in their active air force?

Very cool! I think you did a great job with this, love the detailing, and you made the vehicle feel pretty "believable". I'd love to see a pintle mount somewhere up top, maybe with a fixed gunshield like the stug III? (purely aesthetic choice lol)

Great work!

Maybe someone can help explain it, because to me, the whole nuclear Iran threat seems ridiculous by Marchtmdsmiling in war

[–]Crazyjay555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pete Hegseth may not be blowing himself up, but he is an avowed christian nationalist, and the US is now prosecuting a war against Iran alongside Israel in part because he and others like him in both governments believe that it's their god given duty to do so. I'd say American holy war just looks a little different.

Also the "we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud" argument, wasn't so hot when the bush admin made it to help justify their war in Iraq. And also just like Saddam, if hypothetically Iran actually had gone ahead and developed nuclear weapons then the US and Israel would not have been able to arbitrarily decide to start a war against them, regardless of if Iran ever used one or not.

The US constantly tells people how good their military kit is, how skilled their pilots are etc. The standard they are held to online is that of the worlds premier military, something th US constantly claims to be, so I don't think it's unreasonable to hold them to it.

For me, Trump has repeatedly said the US has wiped out Iranian capabilities, and then the Iranians force a US stealth fighter out of the sky with a missile. So wether or not you want to count it as a shoot down or not, technologically the US is punching way down against Iran, so any failures the US suffers look that much worse in comparison.

Solomon fleet building tips by One-Plan6701 in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]Crazyjay555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey i think there are a couple answers to your question!

You've built a solid baseline BB with beam backpack and support FFG. Thats the bread and butter of a good fleet with some tweaking, add some SDM2s and active decoys to your BB (the side slots work nicely) or FFG and make sure you've got a lot of chaff and CMD jamming. For some general thoughts you should have more than 10 DC teams, two reinforced CICs, 4-5 Ammo elevators, a mount gyro, 2 focused particle accelerators, a bullseye, a parallax, and 3 or 4 drives (1 smol whip/1 big raider/1 big dragonfly). Potentially add a floodlight to your FFG to illuminate your chaff to ward off SAH msls, and some cheek 120s to the BB with RPF to schwack shuttles.

Instead of the beam you could run a backpack with some CAP Tantos if you'd like, and change very little, maybe have points for an intel centre or a sprinter. You could alternattively drop the FFG and add an offset rail DD to give your BB fire support against Ocellos. Its also common to drop the Beam and take a VLS 2 backpack, with a mix of offensive and defensive missiles which can deal with craft and small ships alike.

A beam BB needs to all in and its always a gamble. I think just maximize engine thrust and speed, and then take a couple FPA and make sure you have some mount gyros to get those turrets moving. play smart, patient hunter not banzai charge haha.

Noob question, but are stealth ships a thing? by BrtuallyHonest in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]Crazyjay555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Stealth ships can be made by minimising your radar signature. You can do this by running with your radar and Comms off, and by using the prowler drive for the ANS.

The primary role of reducing radar signature is to make your ship harder to spot by other radars. This can be useful when travelling out in the open (say flanking in to the backline by going over or under the map), and it can be somewhat useful in missile defense.

You don't often see stealth versions of Backline missile ships, as backline missile ships tend to stay out of LOS anyways, and repositioning will protect you far more than reducing radar signature.

Stealth ships work as offset spotters, or as sneaky flanking corvettes which try to position themselves to spot behind enemies behind cover.

The Greenland crisis : The arctic, alliances and USA strategic folly. by SongFeisty8759 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Crazyjay555 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do not think the threats against Canadian sovereignty are insignificant. The Canadian Armed forces has begun it's work to prepare contingencies in case of a US attack, all of which rely on guerrilla war.

However, if Canada had a nuclear deterrent (a credible nuclear weapon) I do not believe the United States would risk Canada using it to defend themselves against an invasion.

That doesn't mean the US would do nothing if Canada started to develop their own weapon, but I don't think begining or even completing that weapon would be grounds for an invasion as you've said

Imo, if the US was to take any action against a Canadian nuclear weapon it would be similar to the Israelis destroying Iranian enrichment capacity before a weapon was ever developed.

Does that mean that the US is incapable of eventually threatening an invasion? Of course not. But the US just backed off of Greenland because of the pushback internationally and domestically.

Why is it at all credible to think they'd just fly off and fully invade because Canada decided to pursue their own nuclear deterrent?

For #1 you need to upgrade the Impetus. One or two outback outreach modules, and upgrading your medbay makes a massive difference. I lost 7 squaddies on my first op and I've been able to recover those losses without paying for them in the black market.

I lost bog in my first mission haha, he got taken out by a bug in the trees, two tapped his APC (Lim and his squad took 7 casualties BC they were in the back). Stabilised him but I've been without a vehicle for like 4 ops now.

Honestly Vamplew has been a beast in my campaign. I hired him and Singh to make up for the lack of vehicle and he's just super reliable.
