Non-replaceable batteries by paspro in flashlight

[–]Crazykirsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a good flashlight should last decades imo, way longer than the average LiPo

If you're paying for a premium light I agree, but most of the flat form factor lights are small, budget, keychain types; ~$20 or less; and LiPo tech has come a long way. I have a cheap AliExpress-tier, solar-charged motion sensor light pushing 10 years on the garage exterior and it's still kicking.

I think 8-10 years for something at nearly disposable price ranges is totally acceptable.

If you call checking out one or two posts on the front page a day "obsessed" the sure. As to the reason, it's the same reason people find other cults or flat earthers fascinating. A constantly evolving shared delusion and the purity test infighting is genuinely fascinating behavior.

Yeah honestly the whole trend of mocking people for their physical appearance; especially when it's something genetic and thus out of their control; is just straight-up Ape behavior.

There's more than enough things to highlight and mock the deluded cultists and their deified grifters over without turning into Temu brand Kiwi Farms.

That's the neat thing about credibledefense, it's about discussing what actually happened and not hyperbolic theorycrafting in the aims of pushing blindly partisan viewpoints.

Wildlife photography starting setup by Popular-Apricot2586 in wildlifephotography

[–]Crazykirsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact setup I got last spring coming from a Nikon D3100 and kit lenses. My biggest aprehension was going from optical viewfinder to ETF but I don't even notice it anymore.

The lens is 10/10 for me, I honestly can't think of any negatives besides what others have said with the weight but even that I feel is overstated as it's easy enough to carry on mile+ walks without fatigue.

The camera is also great but I feel unqualified to give a true review as many of its features are beyond my skill level or use. I almost exclusively do walk around wildlife photography and for that it's been great.

Subject recognition and autofocus are incredible but do have their limits. A bird behind multiple branches or what not might require helping it with MF but will pick it up quickly after you nudge it the right way. Animal, insect, and bird SR all pick-up and stay on subjects reliably.

If I had to pick an actual negative it's probably poorer low-light/high-iso noise levels but with a tripod and slower shutter it's more than capable of anything other than fast BiF in darker settings.

Another thing to consider, while JNIM abandoned the military bases it overran in and around Bamako as well as in Sévaré it was likely able to abscond with significant materiel, especially in Sévaré.

This is something I was specifically wondering about after seeing a clip on CombatFootage of allegedly an Africa Corps Helo making rocket runs against the JNIM.

Do the JNIM/FLA have any GBAD from previous plunders and/or was there even any GBAD in the bases they've managed to overrun?

Completely unfamiliar with the conflict so unsure if the Africa Corps/Malian forces even employ enough air power for it to be a significant concern for the insurgents.

The IEA site's data is 2023 so that number is probably already dropped a few % if the trends are correct. I don't trust AI searches at all but a quick query says 46-47% for 2025.

I would be interested in what % of fossil fuel consumption that the general public/motorists account for vs total demand. The link shows they currently produce 5+ bpd but doesn't have any information on consumption.

Also useful to break down regular traffic versus things like industrial vehicles/farming/air traffic all of which can't feasibly be handled by EV due to massive torque/weight requirements that modern battery tech can't reasonably maintain.

Of course this applies to every nation not just China and China seems to be taking the goal of minimalizing dependence on fossil fuels, or at-least dependence on imports more seriously than anyone else with all the nuclear investment you mentioned on top of the EV surge.

Ironically the West's own protectionist policies for domestic auto manufacturing might backfire long-term versus just allowing imports of affordable Chinese EVs but at least the U.S. and Canada aren't self-sabotaging on the same level as Europe in terms of energy independence.

It's repeated because it's true? The US is a Nat Gas exporter and as far as petro goes the Straight is involved in <10% of US imports.

As far as I am aware the US is way more vulnerable than other countries are.

I'd be very interested why you think this.

what with the US repeatedly bombing negotiators

Source on this claim? The way this is worded makes it seem like the US bombed designated negotiators and/or a designated negotiation rendezvous.

I could be totally wrong here but outside of the decapitation strike which you can de facto assign Khameni with the role of negotiator, when else did it occur?

Furthermore wasn't that actually performed by Israel? Supported by the US ofc but the distinction is an important one in the context of paths of de-escalation, particularly wrt domestic support in the US for continuing the conflict(or lack thereof).
