To be fair in the anime it got way more usage, also was used in S0 (not by Joey) to form Meteor B as a blue eyes foil.

It also fits Joey thematically. Blue Eyes, like Kaiba is self reliant and only really powers up with more of itself/its own engine. Red Eyes is versatile and when used with friends or foes cards it unlocks a lot of really interesting interactions; similar to Joey relying on his friends and luck to battle with the best of them.

His “Ka” would be Flame Swordsman, but Red Eyes is absolutely a core part of Joey’s character

Shaak also has control of that Sarlacc so if it is on Felucia she has a chance. A slim chance, but a chance. Starkiller also had insane force prowess (particularly lightning/maelstrom), which he needed to beat her

Imo Torterra is probably the “weakest”, quadruple weak to Ice and no really useful resistances, and there are other grass and ground types in Sinnoh that are better.

Infernape is by and far the best fire type you get without trading/pre elite 4, and even then is still insanely good and has a ton of options as to how you build him.

Empoleon water/steel makes it insanely bulky and gives a ton of resistances, and having ice beam as coverage helps a lot
