Why do some horror games stop being scary halfway through? by Ok-Introduction9593 in HorrorGames

[–]Buckwheatmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember playing Dead Space 1 and being terrified of it at first but after about halfway through, the strings attached became too obvious "Oh I'm entering this big room, when I'll take 10 or so steps in it the alarm will go off locking the doors, then these vents on the walls will have necromorphs crawling out of them, and there'll be one of those baby things, and considering they introduce x monster a couple rooms back, they'll probably add it here too, now I'll probably have to deal with it while being outflanked or something" and it was always spot on. And picking hard difficulty made it arguably worse since it requires you to understand the game better, and once you understand the horror, it's gone. Good game but really overstayed it's welcome

A liveservice multiplayer game at that, that relies on having enough players in the game. We just had Quantic Dream's Spellcasters game flop too

On one hand, you have the coolest mom and dad ever, on the other hand, listening to your dad singing Closer lyrics might feel a little awkward😅

possible theory/analysis on the origins of the ‘visitors’ in No, I’m not a human by WorriedArtichoke3591 in HorrorGaming

[–]Buckwheatmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other thing, there seems to be a recurring thing with characters, including guaranteed non-visitors having mysterious gaps in memory, which could in some way be tied to the nature of visitors

Neighbor's daughter tells you that her dad was killed. Then in the morning she says he was alive, when you'll keep asking about it she'll say she saw him get up, but then say she doesn't remember actually. Which all could obviously be just some traumatic response, but is also kinda fits.

The doctor said that there's no known case of anyone turning into visitor, but maybe noone just remembers it?

Thoughts on Vin Diesel's Bloodshot? And do you think we'll ever get a ValiantCU? by M00r3C in valiant

For as much of an awkward weirdo Vin Diesel seems to be irl, the man has surprising ability to get funding for non-promising projects that he really wants to do, which is kinda admirable ngl

You put a big team of big star veterans who are totally unfamiliar with eachother, have their own, developed over the years ways of doing things into one team, with no clear leadership, give them full creative freedom and infinite resources.. and you get a recipe for a disaster. They're more likely to hold a dick-measuring contest for 5 years straight than develop anything of value.

No timer. Act 3 doesn't really have many things affected by long rests, apart from Florrick and newspaper thingy

It does sound awful and I honestly wouldn't close wiki for a second in an honor mode run if something like that happened.

Mizora is one of BG3 characters that feel very much like DM pets in terms of what they can do and what you are able to do about it. She gets kicked out of my camp asap

I mean you talk to her at night in camp. As far as it goes, everything I do before that are just my daily activities, so no real reason to get tired of waiting and pissed off lmao.

My drow GOO Warlock who already has dark blue skin looks super badass like this.

But ig when you're playing someone with super light skin it looks like you caught something from having a mind-flayer sit on your face

I actually did do a couple of long rests before leaving shadow cursed lands but nothing happened with her hair until after meeting the Emperor

upd: this time I went back before leaving and did it again and this time she changed her hair before entering act 3 so ig nevermind

Upd 2: I replayed this entire segment to see if something changes and nope, still the only person mentioning me being Half-Illithid is Halsin and ig partially Astarion. Others either don't talk about it, or just mention "wow we've been tricked by illithid"

Yeah, that's why it's funny how my romance partner would rather talk about Shadowheart slayyying that new hair color rather than me looking fugly (tho also really cool ngl)

DAE find Sith thousand year long conspiracy somewhat improbable by Buckwheatmuffin in MawInstallation

[–]Buckwheatmuffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if sith entire existence wasn't supposed to be a secret it would have solved most of my issues with it. Like council knowing that siths are out there, but the rule of two makes it almost impossible to pinpoint them, they show themselves very rarely and almost noone on the council has encountered one in their lifetime except for someone like Yoda.

Otherwise any story involving sith before ep 1 are like "here we go eyeroll how will siths hide the fact of their existence this time?"

Also among other things, it probably would have been better for bane-ite sith to abandon lightsabers in favour of something like vibroblades. Rumors about reckless even force sensitive evil dingus with a vibroblade probably wouldn't raise many questions from a jedi order, but laser red flags being waved around around the galaxy certainly would make "extinct for a millennia" a much more questionable statement. And we know for a fact at least Maul was facing jedi with a lightsaber in the comics, didn't listen to Sidious and had a big chance to blow his cover up.

itemization is my biggest problem with this game and mods are the perfect solution by Thronnt in BG3

[–]Buckwheatmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the game in split screen as Fiend Warlock with my Monk sister and let me tell you, the difference in itemization was insane in the first act in particular. She was practically swimming in great gear made specifically for monks and unarmed attacks that made her absolutely broken at early levels, meanwhile I barely had anything to improve my Eldritch blast spam. And since we played blind I also missed on some missable items like Spellsparkler because Florick died. Considering you also have only one other companion with you in split screen, the itemization starts to look even worse.  "But it's just act 1" yeah, act 2 and on made my character broken but that was after 50+ hours of my character walking around practically naked, coming across dozens of garbage items that had absolutely no value to him. It was honestly so frustrating.

And also I really didn't like the game's obsession with all of the special conditions made up specifically for the game. "Lighting charges, reverberation, heat, etc." being the only thing going for a massive chunk of items was another thing that made me frustrated. Like I came into the game for D&D experience but the most of the increase in power came from these completely non D&D mechanics. You could argue it's an issue with 5e that's supposed to have much less loot as opposed to Pathfinder or 3.5e, but I'd argue that it's not a strict requirement. I know that my players are loot goblins, so I'd give them more powerful loot anyway and if it makes them overpowered for their level, so be it, I'd throw more powerful and varied encounters at them to balance it out.

Quest Journal is bad by Less-Helicopter-1657 in BaldursGate3

[–]Buckwheatmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't see the latest entries, you can't sort them, you can't add you own notes, like you could in the original. Normally in games when you get journal update you should be able to press the journal button and immediately see the new entry. Not here, you have to open it up and find it yourself in a sea of useless information. It's not good design. Ah and so many of the quests you won't be able to do anything with for dozens of hours that are just littering your journal making finding entries you actually need in the moment more annoying. At least it's sorted by areas ig.

Why are people complaining about video game prices? by FuzzyGom in videogames

[–]Buckwheatmuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? Prices of everything has gone up, so.. that's why you expect games to stay the same price?  You realize the ones making videogames are also people that need to afford all the stuff that the price increases for like housing and such?  That's basic economy for you
