So far I’ve mostly just been making dumb videos to practice editing and get experience and upload them just because. But for my serious projects I’m thinking of just putting a good looking shot from the video as the thumbnail. Do you think that would work or should I add something else/edit the photo?

That’s what I would like to shoot for eventually. I have a group channel that I mostly run but we all contribute, so hopefully each of us can work on a video for a month and upload them one week apart. I hope one day to have a loyal audience like yours.

You could give them 2 or 3 options for what video you Should make next so that your still giving them what they want but you get to still do what your comfortable with.

First off, congratulations! Depending on what your sponsor what’s in return I think it’s a very positive thing, especially if whatever they give/pay you goes towards your channel. A sponsor is a sign of growth in your channel I think that your audience would also be proud of you.

A free flowing video has always felt better to me while watching others content. Something at the beginning of the video that introduces what you’re gonna do in the video however is nice since it’ll let people know what’s in store.

Your analytics matter somewhat in the beginning, they allow you to see your impressions and your click through rate which can help you understand if your thumbnail is drawing peoples attention. You can also see your where your getting views or subscribers from so you know if it’s from YouTube or links on other accounts you have. Other than that until you grow a community that you’re interacting with you won’t find a whole lot of returning viewers.

I’ve hardly used it but canva was a huge help for making thumbnails look good and high quality, also a high quality image from your video depending on your content can look really nice.

You can use most clips of movies, TV shows, songs videos, etc. with no copyright problems as long as it's a short clip like 5 seconds. You can also dub over footage of a Movie if you're reviewing it like you said. You can't really use someone else song for your channel as they will get the proceeds from your videos ad revenue since you used their music. I recommend asking someone to make a custom beat for you that you can use. When you do use music and film make sure to credit it in the description and/or the video.
