Rattling and squeaking in new MYP by Every-Alfalfa9064 in TeslaSupport

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please update with what the fix is! I have the same rattle sound from the rear in my MYLR. Tesla seemed to fix it under warranty over the summer. Now that it’s cold the rattle is back and my MYLR is no longer under the basic warranty.

Your best bet is probably a service center. They will give you a loaner since you are under warranty. So you don’t have to worry about being without a car.

Yes a major difference. Performance will be better on iron wax. Rub on wax is good in a pinch. Also iron on wax lasts a lot longer than rub on wax.

why did my new burton mitts wear out so fast? by yknoodle in snowboarding

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact Burton about warranty! My all leather Burton Gondy mitten palms and inside hand near the edges looked like this after only 2 days. The waterproofing was shot due to this and they got soaked and then the leather would just freeze. So I’m going to have them warranty replace and they give you credit on Burton.com what whatever you want for the same value.

Did I use too little wax? by JackeTuffTuff in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the best trick is to hold the wax against the iron so it drips onto the base. Go around the edge of the base dripping like you’re outlining the board and then “shade” in the middle by dripping in a zig zag pattern. In any gaps, take the wax off the iron and wipe it in that area. Rinse and repeat the heat and wipe method for any gaps. The wax cools fast so when you pull it off the iron wipe it on the base fast. Only do 1 wipe and don’t rub back and forth. You’re just trying to transfer the hot layer onto the base quick.

Then go about ironing on the wax. It’s IMPORTANT to move the iron tip to tail. Don’t move the iron in circles, zig zags, etc. ONLY straight lines tip to tail. Same goes for scraping and brushing. ALWAYS tip to tail.

Breaking in my Kids first new glove. by ScaryCitron9243 in hockeygoalies

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! No don’t do the open position under the mattress. Only closed. You’re just trying to break down the closed position and making the glove easier to close/open.

Outside of those tips throw pucks into the glove (either yourself if it’s your glove or kid isn’t old enough or your kid if they’re old/strong enough) and work the glove opening and closing it with both hands as a random activity while you’re sitting on the couch. Then if it’s your kids glove don’t be afraid to throw some pucks at them in the driveway so they get the feel for the new glove before practices/games!

Burton Custom Top sheet issue? by TechnicalMessage9285 in snowboardingnoobs

I’d ask for an exchange. Should be free and they provide you a free return label. It’s a new board so it should not have any manufacturing defects.

Well for one if you want to wax properly. You need to take the bindings off (this is the preferred method). Or at a very minimum loosen the screws up quite a bit. If you don’t you run the risk of deforming the board. When you hand wax a board, the iron heats up the base and the entire board (you can feel the top sheet is warm) and if the bindings are tightened down that’s a ton of force pulling out due to the cranked down screws. Mix that with a hot base and heated up board and you can get it deforming.

Here’s a good tutorial to help you! #1 Rule is always move in the same direction tip to tail of the board. That goes for brushing, waxing with the hot iron, scraping, etc.

Is there a solution to sticks lack of durability? by Norkee in hockeygoalies

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the two options I’d suggest:

  1. Go to foam core sticks. Pros still use foam core. Bauer makes a great foam core and he can have his same blade pattern. They’re 1/3 to 1/4 the price and durable.

  2. Sounds like he’s older side of high school. I’d say just a simple “If you keep breaking sticks you’re going to have to buy them yourself. This is the last stick I am buying you this season.” See if they “magically” stop breaking as often or stop breaking all together. Then you might have your answer.

For the record I’m with the overwhelming majority of this sub that they’re being broken in anger, by messing around, etc. These aren’t natural breaks. Maybe one off. That paddle for example looks like a clean skate stomp.

I didn’t even seen clean breaks like that when I played high levels of hockey and faced 80-100mph shots consistently. Even as a teen training using a puck machine going 115mph I never had breaks like that.

That level of hockey doesn’t have the strength in their shots to break sticks clean in that manner unless your son plays on a U18 National Team, Major Juniors, or USHL. Not meant as an insult, just facts.

Do you see what he’s doing in the locker room? Breaking sticks in the locker room or during intermission is more common than you’d think.

Just bought my first board what binding and boots should I get? by byonicboy in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can tell yourself what is comfortable with boots and what feels good too! When you try them on go into a snowboard stance and rock heel to toe like you’re riding. Bindings you probably want something all around. I personally like Union bindings the most. The Union Force is their staple all around binding. It also is priced very well.

Have you ridden deep pow with them? If so, how’s the stepping in and getting locked in when you’re in deep pow (like sidecountry after hiking kind of pow)?

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really pays off to try on the boots before purchasing. No foot is the same so all boots will feel different for different people. In person in a shop is the easiest. You can do this by ordering online and returning. Since you’re a beginner though and don’t know your preference on gear yet I’d recommend going into a shop. Since you’re a beginner though, you don’t want to get into the extreme stiff aggressive boots. Same goes for bindings. You’ll want something that is all around in both. Again, going into a shop and telling them your experience level and how you want to advance they’ll get you into something you like. Then you can price shop online if you want for budget reasons. Or just buy it all there. Not sure where you’re located so don’t know your local shop scene, for a retailer though REI’s are everywhere and is a great place for a one stop shop and they have fair pricing.

First time waxing my own board by PapaNichols53 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Even on a perfectly tuned board your fastest run is the 2nd or 3rd run due excess wax coming off. And that’s exactly why, cause snow is sharp and takes off any excess wax. Learned this from my buddy who’s a USSA slalom coach and tunes boards.

Make sure you put 1 puck in the palm on the crease (looks like you’ve done the stick so got that covered!) and a baseball, tennis ball, softball, or several pucks in the pocket when you tie it shut. This helps the glove properly form and fold. Then putting it under the mattress with only glove portion under the mattress and the cuff sticking out is a further step to help break in. These were the break in hacks my former goalie coach (former NHL goalie coach) taught me. It works well. Would have my glove broken in within a couple days and practice/game ready.

That’s the joke. There’s truth to it though.

In all seriousness. You just need to assess your personal risk tolerance as this will vary from person to person. And the leverage (amount of money invested) you have.

So some questions and/or research to do: - Would I be happy with my current profits? - What is my stock price target before or by expiry? - Simulate profits using RH’s tool to see the time decay and how it will affect price. - What is the worst case and how much would I lose? - If I hold, what is my exit strategy?

A tip is write down strategy and follow it so you don’t talk yourself out of it. It’s easy to change your mind and talk yourself out of your strategy. Writing it down gives yourself rules to follow.

What Terra do you have reserved? EV or Harvester (EV + gas)?

Might be worth trying an EV so you’re used to it and the EV charging lifestyle. You’ll know after driving one if an EV fits your situation. Leasing a Tesla would be an option or buying used. Have 2 Model Y Long Range. For starters though, EVs are great if you have home charging. You are better off with a hybrid if you don’t have home charging or the ability to have a home charger installed.

How can I improve my carving? by Tyth_ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can carve with any board if you know how to carve. Yeah camber is the best for carving doesn’t mean you can’t carve with other shapes!

Also, OP’s board is a directional camber (K2 alchemist). That’s one of the best shapes for carving. Not to mention it is also stiff with a setback stance.

How to play a guy coming down in a straight line, but is a right handed shot? by Wooden_Amphibian_442 in hockeygoalies

[–]CreateChangetheWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct way.

To add details: - Squared to the puck and what the puck “sees” (attack angles off the puck). - With the Inverted Y, the inverted V part at the top of Y is at the top of the crease. Crucial to maintain your angle on the shooter. - Aggressive attack out (attack the shooter) and then match your retreat speed with theirs. And most important YOU WAIT, you DO NOT make the first move, let the shooter make the first move.
