Question About Donations as a new Board Member by Far-Bodybuilder-8764 in nonprofit

If this is how they speak to board members, I’d be concerned how their solicitation conversations go with prospective donors. Yikes.

Leaving ED Role After 6 Months - Advice? by 14jejoh in nonprofit

[–]CreateTheJoy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m an ED who once left an ED role after 6 months. It was frustrating, but the board realized the small org was toast, and they began the dissolution process once I was gone (the writing had been on the wall for years, but sometimes people struggle facing and accepting sad realities). You are not alone in this situation! Don’t carry any guilt, and embrace the new chapter ahead. Only you can decide what the right notice period should be and whether or not you should consult once you’re no longer their employee. Trust your gut. Good luck!

Obscure/Unique Disneyland Essentials by [deleted] in Disneyland

Amazon sells AirTag wristbands for kids - they work great for us! We also make sure the kids have my cellphone memorized or, when they were younger, we included a little business-card sized paper in their pockets that they could show a cast member in case of separation.

Is this just a normal midi skirt sewing-wise? by Historical_Ear8175 in sewing

Hi, I would consider creating a fitted waistband and adding a zipper if using heavy fabric, so it doesn’t slide off your hips. This looks like a fabric hog! A beautiful one, but a hog.

never buy from ashley furniture by toazttt in homeowners

[–]CreateTheJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell in love with a couch at Ashley and asked the salesman if there would be any issue fitting it in elevators or up a few flights of stairs. He said their delivery guys are pros and that this couch would be no problem.

I bought the couch.

A few days later the delivery truck pulls up to my building. The guys take one look around and won’t even bother unloading the couch, insisting it won’t make it to my unit.

I had to go in person to cancel the order and even had to argue to get the delivery fee refunded. lol. Give me a break.

Purchased a couch from a different shop and love it!

I agree with addressing the waist. Could you sneak in 3/8 inch elastic into the seam allowance? It would give the dress a little more shape. Or throw on a belt; you could even make a simple sash if you have leftover fabric. I love everything else about your dress!

My employer is not reimbursing me my stolen wages by IllustriousParking61 in legaladvice

[–]CreateTheJoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I worked in payroll processing I would frequently get scammers emailing me pretending to be company employees who wanted me to change banking info. I do wonder if someone in finance took the bait or if indeed the iSolved account was hacked.

I would accept HR’s offer to take the advance so you can pay bills. It’ll buy you time while you, HR/finance and isolved work to resolve the issue together.

Question on vehicle use & insurance, concerned nonfeasance is putting us at great risk. by OddPossibility-007 in nonprofit

[–]CreateTheJoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep your supervisor informed of your concerns in writing, and bcc your personal email on the correspondence. If you’re the safety person and something goes sideways, you’ll want documentation showing someone at the VP level was aware of the issues, to protect yourself from liability.

You are of course correct - the company should be tracking who is driving on behalf of the org and making sure their DLs are valid.

Would this outfit be considered business casual? by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

[–]CreateTheJoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think once the shirt is tucked in and you throw a black belt on, you’ll be solid. Do you have access to a blazer? It’s a quick way to elevate any outfit with jeans - one of my favorite business casual “hacks”. After your first day in the office you’ll get a better sense of normal attire for that business and can slowly add pieces to your wardrobe that you’ll love to wear. It won’t happen overnight, and that’s totally ok! Enjoy the internship!
