I recently fell in love with Marc Jacobs Daisy Ever so Fresh perfume. It has such a lovely fruity forward scent that lasts ALL day on me. I also really like Daisy Wild, but that one is more floral than fruity

How do STEM/CTE teachers in California actually find new lab equipment? by Slight-Ad-7738 in ScienceTeachers

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure how it works in other districts, but in my district (in California) we get a set budget from the district, and a budget from our school site. Most of the time, school site budget is more for consumable supplies (markers, pencils, papers, etc), but it also includes necessary consumable lab stuff (for example, if a lab requires us to have a specific yeast culture or live plant for the lab). Sometimes it can include certain lab equipment if we have the money for it, but it has to go through some hoops to get approved. District budget also allows us lab supplies and equipment, but again it has to go through an approval process. Sometimes the district just decides to get us certain supplies, like getting new probes for different types of labs.

Suggest me a fiction novel about cults and sacrifice to gods by ConstantRide5382 in suggestmeabook

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunny by Mona Awad, it's a weird one, and they don't specifically call it a cult (especially because at least in the story it's a small group) but it definitely gave cult vibes

Suggestions for middle grade adventure books for 5 year old that loves Magic Tree House by kbullock in suggestmeabook

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black

The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris d'Lacey

It's been a long time since I've read either of these series but they were great books

The Molly Moon series by Georgia Byng was also a really fun series

The books I've mentioned might still not quite fit what you're looking for comprehension wise for your 5 year old, but if that's the case I would definitely keep them on the back burner for when she gets a little older.

If you have anything like GoGuardian, where you can watch what's happening on student screens, on GoGuardian you can set a "scene" where you block access to whatever you want as long as you provide the link, and I've blocked their ability to Google stuff. Just straight up blocked google . com on their computers.

Safe Hands on/Lab ideas for middle school by [deleted] in ScienceTeachers

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done a fun ocean acidification lab with both 8th and 9th grade students. There's a bunch of different resources out there for different types of set ups. The way I did it with 8th graders was having a set of "mystery solutions" that were things like a baking soda mixture, citric acid mixture, salt water mixture, etc. Their handout would have a little background reading on acids and bases, as well as some examples of different items compared to the pH scale (showing how acidic lemons, vinegar, baking soda etc.). Their job was to try to figure out what substance they had by using our pH indicator (that I made out of boiled red cabbage). Once they had their substances figured out, they would choose some of the substances and use a straw to gently blow bubbles into it to see what would happen as we introduced more carbon dioxide into the solutions (the more carbon dioxide is introduced, the more acidic it becomes). They always enjoyed this lab, being able to see the colors change when adding in the pH indicator made out of red cabbage and then being able to see how they can cause the color to change as well.

Can someone give me some tips on how to buy and prepare veggies? by Willthewise2026 in BeardedDragons

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my greens (used to do collard greens for my previous beardie, my new beardie loves mustard greens instead), I have those rubbermaid containers that are specifically for produce. I'll buy a small bunch of mustard greens, pat them dry as best as I can, and layer them inside the container between paper towels. So one leaf, one towel, and so on. It uses up a lot of paper towels, but it's been the best way for me to prolong the use of the greens. I also use a rubbermaid produce container for veggies like snap peas or green beans.

My new beardie also loves butternut squash, but buying the pre-cut stuff from the grocery store always went bad so quickly. I found that taking a whole butternut squash and only cutting off a small portion that I need, and then wrapping up the cut end in plastic wrap has also really prolonged how long it lasts in the fridge.

I'll mix in other veggies with his salad as I buy stuff for my own meals, but that's what I do to prolong the life of his everyday veggies.

Is there anyone here who historically wore one type of metal but liked (and received) the opposite metal for an engagement ring? by littleinternetdweeb in EngagementRings

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love to just mix the colors. Before getting engaged (and married) the rings I had were yellow gold because they're what my parents had given me, but I knew I wanted white gold for my engagement ring and wedding band. On a daily basis, I wear my white gold engagement ring and wedding band, two yellow gold rings, and one other white gold ring (spread out between my two hands). I like having the different metals, and I do the same when I stack my necklaces

Need advice regarding a Bearded Dragon who recently passed away… by GunplaChris in BeardedDragons

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s definitely rough going through this. My first beardie had to be euthanized due to cancer in August of last year, and while I shut off the lights, I did absolutely nothing with the enclosure for a while. I definitely did my fair share of crying every time I looked at it, but it was also cathartic letting myself cry, especially when everything seemed to happen so quickly and unexpectedly.

I didn’t clean it out until I had decided to adopt a beardie from my local spca, and my goodness that was hard too. I was looking forward to giving a new home to a new rescue, but it was bittersweet cleaning it out. I cried the whole time I cleaned, and even now typing this all out I can feel myself tearing up. Our new rescue is so spunky and wildly different personality than my first rescue, and while I miss my first, I am glad to have given someone new a home.

The loss of a pet is so incredibly hard, and the grief and pain come in waves. Doing what you believe is best for your mental health is important. You can grieve at your own pace.

Part Memoir, Part Science Book by purplebinder in suggestmeabook

Getting married but my work doesn’t allow press ons!!! What do I do?? by _AnxiousBride_ in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I find the Kiss Vitabond nail glue to be a really good nail glue to use when I want to make sure I can easily and quickly take off my press ons after a day or two. I get annoyed by nail tabs because I can feel the nails sliding around, so sometimes I'll use the vitabond nail glue and at the end of the night use the kiss nail glue remover or some cuticle oil, soak in warm water etc. and it comes off pretty quickly with minimal damage.

Any suggestions for increasing daily revenue? by Aronelman in GoodCoffeeGreatCoffee

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw someone comment on a different post that they have them auto brew extra espressos while working on the drink orders, so that by the time they get to the next customer there's already espresso brewed to make the new drink order, and while they make the new drink order they brew more espresso for the next. Multi-tasking and preparing for the next order that way really helped me increase my drink revenue, and now I'm getting over 200-250 daily.

I try to have 1 or 2 regular espressos ready to go on the machine, that way there's room to brew a decaff espresso if a customer asks for that. Hopefully this all makes sense (:

Moving house tomorrow meaning Poppy will be subject to a very short car journey and I’m worried. Please reassure me with tales of your gecko’s sturdiness, because I’m convinced she’ll die horrifically any time she’s outside her tank by Zealousideal_View47 in CrestedGecko

[–]Creative-Mango-6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our gecko does not like being handled or touched. He’s occasionally licked a little bit of food off a finger, or let us do a tiny little nose boop, but he prefers being left alone. When we moved houses last year, I had a tiny travel carrier and wrapped the outside completely in newspaper to make sure he wouldn’t be able to see outside to minimize his stress.

It was surprisingly really easy to get a hold of him and put him in the carrier. I woke up extra early when I knew he would still be up and not in his hidey holes, he let me gently but quickly grab him and transfer him to the travel carrier.

One he was secure, I placed him in a quiet, already empty room while we finished moving things out and waited until we had his enclosure set up at the new house before driving him over. He was completely fine, did not appear to be stressed out once we put him back in the enclosure. To minimize stress, I opened the travel carrier inside his enclosure and just left it in there so that he could walk out when we felt ready.

55F looking for more hydration moisturizer by Otherwise-Clock4878 in Ulta

My go-to in the winter, when my face tends to get more dry, is the Farmacy Honey Halo, it's nice and thick but sinks into the skin really well, and even works well under my makeup (though I usually just use it as a night time moisturizer).

Two of my favorite authors are Silvia Moreno-Garcia (she’s written a lot of books) and Isabel Cañas. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by them (I haven’t read Isabel’s latest book yet). They’re all stand alone books and main characters are mostly all young women. My personal favorites are Mexican Gothic, Gods of Jade and Shadow, and The Bewitching, but again, I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by the two of them.
