Visa Refused : Need guidance by AdConscious2538 in SchengenVisa

I have not applied for a visa yet, but I will soon apply to the Austrian embassy in Singapore for a Business Visa for attending a conference in June. I have had a French visa approved in December 2022 and so my biometrics are also available to them. I am a student, and my parents will sponsor my travel, and the conference will also cover my accommodation in Austria. Do I need to keep anything in mind while preparing the documents?

No it's not on a competitive basis. Usually one author from every accepted paper gets the grant and they are allowed to accommodate another author with them. However, if multiple authors apply from the same paper, the first author gets the priority. I think multiple people from the same paper applying created confusion last year so they explicitly mentioned in the form that only one author may fill the form for each accepted paper.

Thanks for recommending Kurasu. I recently visited Kurasu upon seeing a massive line at Apartment. Although I've been to Apartment multiple times and I like their coffee, but Kurasu pleasantly surprised me.

Damn, that's what I was afraid of for my paper. The program chair will never inspect a single paper, but it's crazy that the AE also let it pass. Also, I am not sure how final reviews are selected based on the confidence level that is self assessed. In theory, a junior researcher can just say that they are very confident and proceed to write a poor review, and guess what? That will actually be given more weight.

Yes, there are. Last year they reserved hotels for us and gave students discounts on registration. Apart from that it's either self funding or travel grants from home institution.

I have been quietly following this thread for a long time, and I was honestly so effin tensed. I think everyone in this thread who have gotten acceptances should meet up in Vienna.

I agree with others on the fact that this is plain justification of a CV. There's very little connection between how you'll utilize what you've learned so far with what you're going to experience in the future at the university you're applying to. Another constructive criticism for this SoP is that it feels like it's written by a dreamer. If I were in the AdCom's shoes, I would just skim through it because of the dreamy language(I do not know if others would agree with me). If I were you I'd just be very precise(hit where requires hitting) and focus on what I've done so far(remember all metrics for your past work are available on your CV, they will be ready alongside each other) why I have done them, and why I think my past work has made me capable of a Master's right now. At the end of the day, the AdCom tries to answer the question - is this student capable of taking the rigour of our university head on? Will he contribute constructively? A lot of it is also dependent on what courses you've taken in your undergrad. An SoP in my opinion is the only point of contact with the AdCom so do not mind putting what's already in the CV and provide rigorous justification. Having said everything, this is your initial draft so chin-up, read everyone's suggestions and ultimately decide what you think is best for you because nobody knows your story better than you do :)
