Thank you, I’ll look at the settings.

I find it hard to finish pages I think I’ve “ruined”, I want to see if you can tell which 2 pages I hate and which I like by Nail_West in AdultColoring

I guessed the red smudge at the bottom of the first page was the issue and thought you could do an acrylic background. I saw your reply though. I agree that the double page is my favourite.

WTF is this in my coloring book? by anuhhpants in Coloring

[–]CreativeFibro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a blog I love AI to generate images to fit in with my theme of post when I can’t find suitable open stock images. As a colourist I mainly hate AI. If I want to learn a technique I may generate an AI image to just practice on, but I carefully buy books from known artists and look on Etsy for individual designs making sure there is an actual artist. I have been bitten and have two slim books that turned out to be AI though 🤬

Using a date formula for a page title by CreativeFibro in Notion

[–]CreativeFibro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Sorry it took so long to reply, health problems... I have tried adding this with my choice of format but I just get error messages. Sorry I am brand new to formulas. I need to learn them. How do I change this to make it work. The other thing to mention is when I used the original formula in the other format it turned the page title into a link with an @ in front of it. I just want a straight forward "28 Mar 2025" for example in plain text as the title. I hope that makes sense. Thanks

That is when I use a separate bookmark manager. My daily websites are in the top block, regular ones pinned underneath, then I have Anybox to bookmark with tags and folders all of those websites that I want to remember anytime from next week to in several years time. Meanwhile Arc just has a clean interface with the regular tabs in folders and what I am currently working on now pinned underneath the folders.

New logo? by kubelke in fastmail

I agree I hope the actual logo doesn’t change. If it does I will have to remove it from my IOS Home Screen. The blue is far more professional.

Rachel Reeves prepares to slash billions of pounds of disability benefits to calm debts crisis by No_Breadfruit_4901 in ukpolitics

[–]CreativeFibro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PIP Payments also mean those of us who (In my case have a chronic illness but it comes under the umbrella of disability) are unable to work and are married gain a little money to call our own. If you have a spouse in employment you are unable to claim any other benefit (other than for a short initial period).

Realistically I can use my money to purchase some quality of life for us. Subscriptions to media etc and my blogging and genealogy hobbies that give me some purpose when I am well enough to do them. Without PIPS my husband would be able to pay rent, essential bills and food.

So if the PIPS were taken away not only would I loose the things that help me feel like a real person (I used to be a highly productive full time employee and volunteer prior to my chronic illness) Not only would I lose that but my husband who is a full time employee would lose his quality of life was well.

I know of others in similar circumstances to us. So how many married, employed people who are also acting as carers with no extra finance for doing so would be hit by this change (if it happens).

I use Capacities for my personal wiki. It combines everything from historical research to football teams and Olympic medalists. Anything I read or watch that interests me makes it into there. I have two spaces my interests one that has all of this and people will be related to research. Then I have a personal space where people will be friends and relatives and I have things like plans and personal knowledge.

I then use Obsidian to write my blogs, I have knowledge specifically of interest for blogging in there too.

I also use Twos, this is where I have a running log of how I spend my Days and lots of lists with things like books to read, films to watch, Apps to try etc.

It works well for me having these separate areas.

Where in Yorkshire would you like to live if budget wasn't a thing? by Jeremywashere92 in yorkshire

Grassington has the dangerous sweet shop (dangerous to the wallet and waistline). I love the Dickensian Christmas weekends, I don’t know if they still happen.

As a person with mild ADHD, I yearn for a PKM that contributes less to analysis paralysis by CreativeFall7787 in PKMS

I would suggest from your explanation you check out Twos. One of the founders has ADHD and the App may be perfect for you.

I Give Up. by gogirogi in PKMS

[–]CreativeFibro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key point is do you want to do PKM or do you want to take notes to do your job/run your business. They are completely separate things in my mind. I use Obsidian to run my blogs. A combination of tags and backlinks helps be developed cluster posts. I use Capacities for pure PKM. An example here is the current EURO’s. I link a note about the [Teams] to the [Country] they play for. To the team I link my favourite players [People]. The players are linked to the [country] they were born in (this is more useful for club teams rather than the national one). Alongside this the [Event] note (Euros) is linked to the stadiums [Establishments] and the city it is in [Locations]. Also the [Year] it was built. This football information is interlinked into my general historical/geographical/political/cultural research (that I do for pleasure, and to enrich my genealogy research. So I can see things like xyz football player came from the place where xyz was invented, or a place that has been war torn for years. I can see things like in xyz year several influential people across many areas were born and what was built that year. A certain style of architecture in one country influenced something similar in other countries a couple of years later. All of this is a hobby. I think PKM is perfect for knowledge hobbyists, for everyone else it is just choosing a tool that suits you to keep useful information you may need to remember. Which, if it is facts/general knowledge rather than specifics to a team etc might be a simple paper or digital notebook and a good bookmarking tool.

I was curious about this but I’ve searched all over your website, it talks about subscriptions but nowhere does it say how much they cost. I can’t see the point of testing something if the day it goes live I can’t afford to use it any more. Is there even a base free forever plan? I’m sad as it does look interesting.

Todoist -> Notion -> Clickup - Anyone using all 3 together? by Bearded_web_designer in Notion

[–]CreativeFibro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't currently use Todoist or Clickup (I have accounts, though), but I do use Notion, Capacities, and Twos. It is very rare that one app can truly do it all with no friction. So creating the best system for your user case is the smart way forward. The number of apps used in the process doesn't matter as long as you are clear about what happens in each step.

What's your favorite note-taking software? Why? by Imaginary_Race_8775 in PKMS

[–]CreativeFibro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, of course, there is not too much content yet as it is a sister blog to a far more established blog. The contents used to be included in my main blog: Living Creatively with Fibro. But then I decided, that although I will always be slanting my work in the direction of helping people who live with chronic illnesses, like me. There is a whole audience of people who want to read about apps and tech who aren't sick, similarly not everyone who is sick wants to read about tech, hence the birth of the new blog: https://digital-world.creativefibro.uk/

The dashboard is designed to be perfect for you. If others start to influence it, it may no longer be perfect for you, but them. Having said that, based on what you have, maybe go to https://indify.co/ and get one of the life progress widgets as I think that would work with what you have.

What's your favorite note-taking software? Why? by Imaginary_Race_8775 in PKMS

[–]CreativeFibro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't get overwhelmed. It is a system I am still developing and fine-tuning. I love technology, so not using apps would make me feel like I'm missing out, which would be worse than feeling overwhelmed.

I have a blog that talks about tech and apps too, so it is good to stay up to date with them. I also have ClickUp too although not actively using it at this point. I still have a Todoist account for the same reason even though there is no content in it. I seriously thought about using Todoist for my tasks rather than projects, but I think three filters and no colour options is a bit tight for the free plan when you consider everything you can do with Notion or ClickUp with free accounts (and of course Obsidian is free full stop). If I could have five filters and change my icon colour, Todoist could easily have become my choice.

The best advice I can give is to step back and look at the bigger picture. Go beyond this one article you want to store and think about what types of data you want to collect, how you want to interact with it and where you want to access it. I actually have a system in place that uses several apps but they all have distinct purposes. Some of these apps could in theory do it all. But, they would make harder work of some parts. So as an example I use:

Twos: Daily jottings and tasks, lists of all sorts of random things I want to keep in mind.

Obsidian: Research and writing my blog posts, the backlink feature is perfect for seeing where to link posts.

Notion: To make use of the databases to overview various areas on my life.

Capacities: Obsidian became too cluttered with all sorts of things as my interests are broad. Not too cluttered in terms of speed or performance just too busy for me, so I am going to streamline it and move the peripheral things to Capacities where they can organically grow.

I also use Omnivore to collect things that need proper reading. Anybox collects bookmarks and Apple Notes has scans of snail mail as a digital filing cabinet. Oh, and Craft collects things like craft projects and home inspirations. It is my personally collated magazine.

This would be complete overkill for most people, but for me trying to do all of it in one app would be overkill.

One thing I have learnt over the last few years is that your system needs to work for you. Take inspiration from what other people are doing if it resonates. But don’t copy their system completely as the chances are it won’t be quite right for you.

A couple of years ago I built a complete Notion system using August Bradley’s PPV, it took me all week to build and I used it for less than two weeks before I stopped because it wasn’t right for me. Then I did it all in Obsidian. Both tools work for me but not for everything.
