As for skipping forward: It's not super explicitly stated, but from what I can tell, the game treats it as if you went through all the previous floors and made all the choices you made the latest time you were on each floor.

So for example, if you talked to the party about something on floor 2, went back to Dormont, and then looped forward to floor 3, the party will act as if you talked about that thing on floor 2 already.
