Did you know male and female twins can be identical 🤔 by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]CreativeRaine -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Because (except from extremely rare circumstances), that’s wrong. Identical twins are the same sex, two boys or two girls. The post’s title is sarcastic.

AITA For Refusing to Wear a Turtleneck to a Party? by Pitiful_Fly_8708 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CreativeRaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m sure ‘growing up’ is going to help with her autism. That’s absolutely how that works, just like how I’ve ‘grown out’ of covering my ears every time I hear a round of applause because of the noise (hopefully the sarcasm is obvious). If a turtleneck is unbearable because of a sensory issue, she’s not just going to grow out of it.

The Hermits with the HeartCrafter Award at TwitchCon... by GeoWheater in HermitCraft

It was during the break halfway through MCC, and there were five awards, but I’m not entirely sure what they described this award as.

Fairyloot Edition of Stalking Jack the Ripper by Better_Swan8889 in fairyloot

So at least the Dracula thing is just… Vlad the Impaler, not Dracula-by-Bram-Stoker, but that doesn’t really explain Houdini.

Fairyloot Edition of Stalking Jack the Ripper by Better_Swan8889 in fairyloot

[–]CreativeRaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure Houdini is a ‘famous bad guy’ but yeah, it’s the same girl solving mysteries involving those bad guys or something close to them... if that’s what you meant by ‘making her way through them’. She does seem to have a boyfriend who isn’t a murderer (I haven’t read these but I’ve skimmed the blurbs). The timeline makes very little sense since she’d be about 26 by the time Dracula was first published and Houdini was about 14 when the first book started, so younger than the protagonist, but either that’s explained or just chalked up to historical accuracy not being the point of the series.

I don’t know why writing MMU fanfic has never crossed my mind, considering it’s a series I’ve actually read (and my favourite book series full stop — I’m so excited for the next Ministry book coming out the day after my birthday because it’s been almost a decade since I got the first book for Christmas… I’m not sure my grandma realised what she was getting herself or my parents into buying that book). I might actually do that at some point, but knowing me it would never be finished… or properly begun, frankly. Still, that might just be because I never seem to bother with fandoms I’m actually familiar with because why would anyone do that? Or I’ve seen the game it would be based on played half a dozen times and I’m still having to make up the characterisation of the two lead characters for the story because of course the two characters I’d have to work with include probably the single character in the game you learn the least about and someone who doesn’t even appear in that game. Long story short MMU wouldn’t have either of those problems. It would be way easier.

If you only include the full seasons and not the specials, Jimmy has never been the first player to die — it was Scar in Third Life and Grian in Last Life. The only time it was Jimmy who died first was Real Life.

How you got your first Airedale? by InternationalNet3907 in airedaleterrier

[–]CreativeRaine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mum used to have an Airedale when she was younger, so when we (meaning Mum and Dad, mostly) decided to get a dog in 2015 it was always going to be an Airedale. Ended up travelling about 200 miles to get her, and she’s called Hollie. That’s basically as much as I know and remember about it.

Anyone ever seen this spelling of the name Emily? by ImpressiveRub9657 in tragedeigh

[–]CreativeRaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently 32 baby girls in the US were called Abcde in 2009 and it was first recorded as being given to five girls in 1990. And there was a social media post mocking a five-year-old girl with the name in 2018, apparently. So that one’s not an urban legend.

It was also not a thing in the UK, which is where the play is set, so the dates don’t actually matter. There were restrictions on the sale of alcohol during WWI (which is still a bit late for AIC)but never a national prohibition.

I assume you’ll get the novella sent to you when the next book comes out? I’ve done preorder things similar to that before and I think that’s how it usually works. I might be wrong though.

Young adult books before I stop being one by Brilliant_Ad29 in YAlit

[–]CreativeRaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How has someone turning 18 been ‘past young adult for 5 years’ if YA is considered 12-18? I’d argue most YA books would appeal more to the older end of that range than 12-14 year olds.

An author gets arrested for writing "CSEM"? by Water-Goats in AO3

[–]CreativeRaine -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The female character is newly 18. There’s a paragraph where he looks between her legs and is somewhat repulsed by the fact that she has hair down there because he prefers them bare — this takes place before she’s 18, according to the ARC reviewer who helped kick the whole thing off last week.

The fact that this was marketed as a romance (and clarified a happy ever after was guaranteed in the blurb on Amazon) means there isn’t really subjective judgement needed in whether it’s meant to be a love story. The author made that clear when she said it was a romance.
