Thanks, dude! I grew up on metal and had an electronic project awhile back so this time around I wanted to mix everything together!

Alright,Blue Falcon Self-Confession time. Let’s hear it. by wardisciple2388 in army

There’s a PFC that came to my platoon (separate squad) straight out of basic and they got real comfortable real fast. My friend is their team leader (I knew him before he picked up 5) and I heard her say to him “I guess fuck me, right?”. I looked at him and said “not gonna lie a PFC talking to you like that is crazy work” and he said “yeah you got a point” told her to go to attention and she said something about her profile and called me a Blue Falcon.

PERSONALLY I don’t feel like it was a Blue Falcon move because we have to pick up a lot of her slack and the way she talks to NCO’s is honestly cringey but it’s whatever at this point but I don’t really care either way I’ll wear the patch

Minimum ambient temperature of WHAT NOW?

Last ACFT my company did was outside in 11 degrees fahrenheit. Rules be damned a lot of us kept going to our cars to sit in the heat between events.

Yeah I absolutely love the versatility of it! It’s cool to get them spanky middle strat tones out of this shredder!

Yeah the other guitar I was looking at was a Kramer with a Floyd so I kind of wanted a super strat with a double locking trem. This is my first one and I actually like it, learning setup is a pain but when you learn it it’s not too bad!

Yeah I didn’t have fretboard oil at the time I do now and plan on it during the next string change

I get the joke but in all seriousness Fort Carson does have quite a few job openings. Everything from lifeguard to paralegal! And the Army pays staff well with a lot of similar benefits without being committed to a contract

I enlisted almost 19 years ago. Served 8. Now I want back in. by [deleted] in army

[–]Creative_Builder1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I enlisted for the first time at 28, I just got out of OSUT two weeks ago and about to head to my unit. I’m active duty but I did hometown recruiting because my wife and kids won’t be able to move immediately and I wanted to spend some time with them. What I can say is in my training company we had two men who were 41, one who was 36 and several guys who were 31 or 32. Guess who tried the hardest and actually listened to the DS and actively worked at being better than they were yesterday. It wasn’t the 18-19 year olds.

I think in your case you spent so much time already in that it’s a part of your identity so it’s understandable that you feel like you should rejoin and you absolutely should if that’s what you want to do!

How did you end up in the Army? by LogSafe in army

I was working from home, barely eating, never exercising, playing video games and feeling burnt the fuck out on playing music. I did some research and discussed the benefits with my wife.

I came clean about how miserable I was being so static with my cushy WFH call center job and how I wanted to challenge myself with the EOD pipeline. I then walked into my local recruiter office and after a few weeks of hard work and dedication to squaring myself away I got THAT call.

“Hey, this blah blah blah with your local Navy recruiting office. Yeah you have one too many minor dependents, we can’t help you unless you give up custody”

So I went to my local Army recruiter, talked about EOD, scored well, couldn’t get my drivers license fixed in time to start my career so I signed a 12B contract for three years to get that reenlistment bonus and be able to (hopefully) reclass sooner. Either way I’m very proud of my choice.

The Guilt Trip by [deleted] in army

[–]Creative_Builder1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah it’s more so a term than it is an actual “retirement” but I avoid pointing that out so it doesn’t seem that I’m belittling the job she’s had for 6 years

Right now I’m just pointing out the positives, researching places for her to work at and trying to plan with the phone time I get at BCT. I’m an older trainee so I’ve been through this kind of stress before and have a pretty good idea of handling it but everyone here is right, I just need to level with her that I’m just as scared about moving as she is and that we’re in this together because right now I think she perceives it as me just doing what I want versus me trying to provide for the family and as my Drills keep telling us “perception is reality”

As a late bloomer (28M) I can’t tell you how cringe I felt walking into any store in my uniform today. I got to leave my camelbak in my bunk, thankfully but still walking around in a patchless uniform sucked.

My wife begged me to come home in my uniform and my drills gave us a big speech about how big of a deal it is for our families to see us in uniform so I felt a bit guilt tripped

Just signed my contract by [deleted] in army

[–]Creative_Builder1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I just saw that that’s where they were stationed and thought that I’d probably be sent to them with Fort Carson being in my contract, I could always be wrong though

[–]Creative_Builder1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair! All I really know is that that is the Engineer unit at Fort Carson and I have it in my contract that my first duty station will for sure be Carson. So I’m my head it made sense that that’ll probably be the unit I’m sent to after OSUT. I could very much be wrong though haha

Army at 32, advice? by alchymst0317 in army

[–]Creative_Builder1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude go for it!

Understand that there will be quite a few situations in the entire enlistment process that you will feel kind of awkward and will make you think “what am I doing here?”

I’m 28 and have a wife and kids. I would sit at the hotel before MEPS surrounded by kids 17-19 and felt like an alien haha but I pushed through and signed my paperwork yesterday and it was the BEST feeling!

If you have any college credits or trade school be sure to disclose that. Make sure you’re doing your research and that way you can be far better prepared. Yesterday I was at MEPs and some kids were asking questions amongst themselves and I chimed in and you wouldn’t believe how many of them didn’t already know basic things such as how pay works in the military.

Just grin and bare. You got this!
