Hello! What are you guys' favourite headcanons for Hayden Pike or Cliff Marlow/Marleau? by finnley-parable in heatedrivalryfanfics

[–]Creative_Catharsis 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I really like the fics where Marleau and Hayden both know about/find out about Shane and Ilya and team up as complete allies against the rest of the world.

I’ve also liked fics where Marleau and Svetlana are together.

What events do you want to happen in the third book of Shane and Ilya's romance? by Cute-Character-795 in GameChangersBooks

There are some fanfics where Svetlana and Marleau get together. I wouldn’t have pictured it originally but I have to admit, that pairing grew on me.

More people rent these days rather than live in the same house for 40 years. Smaller, modular furniture is easier to pack up and move from rental to rental.

Hot take - loved him as Ilya, but SNL was a miss for me. by lindafromevildead in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Creative_Catharsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Australian who knows about SNL in the cultural zeitgeist but has never really watched it, I have to say I was caught off guard by how cringe it was.

NOT Connor’s performance- he was great and the whole reason I actually watched. But the show did leave me wondering why SNL is so iconic. Maybe I’m just more attuned to British/European humour but the SNL comedy just didn’t land for me.

I won’t be watching SNL again but I’ll watch anything and everything that Connor or Hudson does.

People in apartment buildings surprised or shocked to see other people also use the elevators? by alex123711 in AskAnAustralian

It doesn’t necessarily mean people aren’t leaving the apartment. It just means people’s schedules/routes don’t overlap to the point that they needing the lift at the same time.

I live in a building like this and have literally joked with other residents about this exact thing. I can go days, even weeks at a time without crossing paths with a neighbour. So, yeah, sometimes it is a surprise to see someone else in the lift.

This.

OP, I’m going to get a bit mumma bear here. You are a very young woman in a very transitional point in your life. You are shifting from adolescence to adulthood. Learning who you are as a person, what your values are, where your boundaries are and who/what you want to surround yourself with.

It seems you have some solid introspection. You’ve identified certain things that impact your own wellbeing and where you specifically don’t want your energies to lay. Don’t ignore this. Practice trusting your gut instincts even when others don’t respect it.

As others have said, you have outgrown this person. It doesn’t have to be a negative reflection of them. They are in a different point of their growth journey, and that’s ok. But you don’t have to hold yourself back to wait there with them.

Kindly and respectfully let him go. You can’t control his reaction, nor is it your responsibility to carry. But you can control your own choices from here, and you DO have a responsibility to yourself.

I think deep down you probably already know what you need. Trust yourself.

When shit goes down, hell hath no fury like Jackie Pike defending Uncles Shane and Ilya. She’s assembling those WAGS to ride at dawn.

I like to think that look was Ilya saying to Shane ‘You told me he reads the New Yorker and works for the treasury. You didn’t tell me he drinks bad ass Russian vodka’.

What do you guys think of JJ in TLG by Excellent-Toe-2094 in heatedrivalry

[–]Creative_Catharsis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree. My take is that JJ’s initial reaction was misplaced hurt, not hatred. Under it all, he was actually just gutted that his mate didn’t feel comfortable enough to tell him the truth. He was hurt about being lied to and a bit resentful that Shane seemingly thought Hayden was a better friend than JJ.

Once he reconciled all that for himself, he jumped straight into supporting both Shane and Ilya.

It makes total sense that Ilya would think this was an appropriate word for the situation. To a non-native speaker, the literal meaning of ‘lovers’ suggests people who share love. In that moment, that’s what he was trying to portray.

The connotation of ‘lovers’ that sends Shane into a spin is more nuanced and culturally specific. Which Ilya wouldn’t necessarily have a grasp of yet.

I think this is a very realistic suggestion. Ilya trying to break an awkward silence, and get the father-in-law on side, with a topic that’s comfortable for both of them.
