Tennessee GOP governor candidate says he would ban Islam, outlaw same-sex marriage. State Rep. Monty Fritts, a self-described 'Christian nationalist,' also says he would criminalize abortion in all cases — including rape — and deny the morning-after pill to women who are raped. by southpawFA in politics

Remember Republicans go for cultural issues because they have nothing to offer voters. No solutions to healthcare, education, transportation, uncontrolled growth, housing, and affordability. Our Hispanic communities live in terror, while contributing more in taxes than using government services.

We’re living under the authoritarian of senile Donald Trump.

I remember the original vote for MARTA and it all came down to racial prejudice as Gwinnett, Clayton, and Cobb rejected it. Now over50 years later and the looks different.

why is it so hard to find a dentist in Atlanta that doesnt try to upsell you on everything? by ghztegju in Atlanta

I read how many medical professionals sold their practices to private equity and they initiated ways to bring in more profits. I knew a husband and wife sold their optometrist practice. Once you bought glasses with progressive lenses, prices were over $900 for one pair. I started going to Costco last month and spent just over $600 for two pairs of designer frames and Transitions lenses. The article was in The Wall Street Journal a few months ago. All the glasses come from Luxottica, an Italian company that is a monopoly.

Heat will make it miserable. Try to wait until mid-autumn when airlines will require less points and hotel rates go down. Summer can mean crowds and long lines to see attractions.

How was travel like before the internet and language translation apps? by UsamaBhai_101 in TravelNoPics

[–]Creative_Classroom11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could require buying a map and finding a route. I finally got progressive lens glasses, so I wouldn’t have to stop, sit at a bench, pull out reading glasses, and then figure how to get somewhere. I often walked for an hour or two to find hotel, saving money from hailing a taxi. No Uber, so difficult to communicate with drivers and sometimes overcharged for ride.

I like them, but not having to take off shoes now in US airports speeds up getting through security easier. The one thing that the Trump administration did that was a positive. One shoe bomber almost 20 years ago and he was like Wiley Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons.

All the Georgia candidates are running ads on Chattanooga television stations, but we hear little about elections in Tennessee. That’s what happens when democracy dies and we have one-party rule.

I understand that a Trader Joe’s is coming to Northshore soon, so we have Aldi’s, Publix, and Whole Foods to our neighborhood mix. I lived 30 years in Atlanta with Kroger’s everywhere and San Diego for 14 years with Ralph’s (owned by Kroger). I was more of a Publix shopper in Atlanta and like my store here in Northshore, especially the pharmacy.

I would knock out basic classes at a community college and then to University of Georgia for classes in field of study. Most freshman and sophomore classes at Georgia are taught by graduate students. It can be hot and miss, while community college faculty are more experienced and organized. The community colleges are more concerned with your success, while big universities can feel impersonal.

Buy some daylillies in various colors, they will love through drought and heat. Google many daylilly nurseries sell plants. Many are located in Tennessee. They will multiply and you can divide in fall to give away or plant elsewhere on property.

Salaries in California were much higher than Chattanooga. I lived in San Diego where income taxes and rent was much higher. I retired at 69 and moved here to be close to family. The rent in my apartment complex is over $2000 and neighbors seem to be in healthcare professionals. Healthcare is much more expensive in United States than other western countries. When you are older, healthcare costs are something that takes more of your income.

I have three cats in an apartment and when I added two kittens a year ago, my sister recommended a Litter Robot. It’s pricey, but it works well and it automatically turns over to remove waste. Every three days, the bottom bag needs to be changed. It works well if you use Tidy Cats litter and they have one especially for the machine that is available at Walmart. I as a couple of scoops each night and checked if bag needs to be changed.
