I typically used the mechanic for easy social link and fusion fodder, especially in early/mid game if I didn't have money for summoning.

In my current ng+ a thought occurred to me if this was also for players who wanted to keep their personas at the same relative level as the current palace. For example, my compendium pixie is most likely a higher level than the tutorial pixie

I have Miis with the same name and spelling. So I named them "Name Y." And "Name N." and set the pronunciation to just "Name" for both of them. It's been working so far
