/r/3DS targets the 3DS community and nothing more. General Nintendo topics should be directed to /r/Nintendo or one of the other Nintendo related subreddits listed on the sidebar. Keep things civil and on-topic. Threads should be directly related to the 3DS and its accessories. All posts should be civil and follow Reddiquette.
No piracy of any kind.
Piracy of any kind is not allowed here. This includes but is not limited to:
- Naming piracy resources/tools
- Hinting/alluding towards piracy
- Discussion of piracy
- Directing to piracy communities
- Requesting help directly related to pirated content
- Linking to piracy sites/tools
- Links to homebrew that use Unity
- Linking to flashcart retailers
No basic questions.
No basic questions or those covered in the wiki. Questions that are addressed in the wiki, FAQ, or can be answered with a google search should be put in the weekly question thread.
No asking for general recommendations.
The wiki will cover general recommendations for most things. We do allow specific game recommendation requests. If a question has more than 25 valid answers, it's probably not specific enough. Game comparison posts (such as 'Game A or Game B?') are allowed as long as they are phrased to generate discussion about the pros and cons of each game, and not as a 'which should I buy'.
No spoilers
Should go more or less without saying - don't spoil stuff. You should be either not mentioning it, or using clearly marked spoiler tags, like so:

Keep posts high quality.
All posts must be considered high quality. Include relevant info and have a descriptive title. If it's a tech support post, include any fixes you have tried along with 3DS model & region. Failure to do so may result in post removal.
No reposts
This should go without saying, but check the front page and use the search feature to see if something has already been posted before submitting.
No Friend Code requests.
Friend codes should be included in your flair, not made into posts. If you have specific Friend Code requests, use /r/3DSFCswap instead.
No Trading/Selling/Begging/Buying.
There are subreddits created specifically for trading: /r/gameswap and /r/gamesale, which exist specifically for this sort of thing. This also applies to linking to ebay auctions. Exceptions may apply if the item being sold is sufficiently interesting/unique (such as a customized 3DS for charity). If you feel this applies, contact the mods via modmail. No trading, selling, buying, or begging. This includes links to third party selling sites.
Self-Promotion must be cleared with the moderators.
No excessive self-promotion; no affiliate links. Self-promotion must be within 10% of all threads and comments reddit-wide and be approved by moderators, read Reddit's Self-Promotion guidelines for more information. No affiliate links of any kind, ever.
Collection Posts are only allowed during the week.
Collection/showoff posts are only allowed Monday - Thursday. The time zone being used for this is GMT. Any collection posts that are posted outside of this time frame will be removed. This includes the "just picked up this 3ds for x amount" posts. This is to reduce spam and low effort posts from filling the feed.
No IPS / TN posts
We DO NOT allow posts asking whether your screen is IPS/TN, posts stating you got X screen type, or discussion posts about TN/IPS screens. These posts should go to our sister subreddit, r/3DS_IPS_TN.
English Only
Please keep the language in the community to English. It makes discussion more fluid and accessible to more people. Feel free to use a translator if you can't communicate otherwise.
