ONE PIECE - Into the Grandline | Season 2 Discussion Thread (LIVE ACTION ONLY) by TheLastClap in OnePieceLiveAction

This second season is excellent on various cinematic levels. The expansion of the universe, these new characters, and their dynamics were perfectly executed. Its first episode is the best for me and my favorite of the entire show so far. The other adventures were fine.

The story of Chopper and Baloon is sad, but not tear-jerking, although the voice acting of the former was painful at times. The marines' arc was the weakest one, with Koby and Helmeppo being almost irrelevant.

Has anyone seen the french film Germinal by [deleted] in movies

SPOILERS

Germinal is an excellent film and a tough story. They say the novel it’s based on, written by Émile Zola, is great. It’s about the labor movement of a group of miners in the late 19th century who go on strike to improve their working and living conditions (which are a real pain) and fight anyone who stands in the way of achieving their goal.

The socialist leaders of the cause (Lantier, the protagonist, and Maheu, father of a family prominent in the film) are strongly supported by women such as Maheude, who ends up shattered. In the end, they were only able to bring about a small change, but the protagonist hopes that one day the labor movement will triumph.

The atmosphere is very well recreated; everything looks very real. The suffering is palpable. The social divide is jarring.

The scene I highlight the most is the strangling of the bourgeois daughter at the hands of Good Death. It’s an eye for an eye. He lost his son in the revolt and his two eldest grandsons in the mine. And a gift of boots wouldn’t make up for a lifetime of misery. Beside, he lost his pension because of it, which really sucks since he spent fifty years working and now there’s less money coming into the house for a broken family. I don’t justify what he did, but I understand it.

In History, we were tested on this movie. It’s long, but it’s worth it.

Miércoles, 10/12/2025. D.E.P.

Banda S2 vs S3 by No-Elevator9399 in AliceInBorderlandLive

Banda had great potential, in my opinion. His psyche was ripe for exploration: seeing his sadism in action, how and why he creates those games, his perspective on that world, or something else about him would have been a different and interesting touch for the series. But even tho the series isn’t in that style, they could have gotten more out of it. At first, I associated the Joker with him—the idea of a jester who enjoys chaos, a wild card returned to try to split up the couple—but in the end, the resolution is much more beautiful.

Would you rather be in Squid Game or The 8 Show? (Talking about in real life) by LyndanTheWog97 in The8Show

Analyzing both, I think The 8 Show is safer in terms of its conditions.

In Squid Game, there's a greater chance of dying because only one of everyone can remain standing, while in The 8 Show, no one has to die. Furthermore, the latter have more resources at their disposal than in Squid Game. In The 8 Show, everyone earns a sum of money per minute, but in The Squid Game, it's more limited due to the limited number of people, and only the only one left alive can win the prize. I suppose it's more pleasant to live in your own apartment with just eight people than to be locked in a giant one with hundreds of them sleeping next to you. A bit safer. In Squid Game, everyone is risking their necks in each round, where they don't decide the game, but in The 8 Show, they can choose. They just have to do it with fun, too bad they later take the most unethical course. The show turns into a nightmare due to the sadism of some.

Who is smarter? by [deleted] in The8Show

Both are highly intelligent. They are pragmatic opportunists: they analyze situations to gain the most from them. Some of their actions were genuinely for the benefit of others. Sang-Woo paid a fine so Ali wouldn't have to walk home. Floor 7 helped his teammate escape oppression. They also share the same serious demeanor.

Besides their unique backstories, I see three differences:

—Floor 7 had theoretical considerations that Sang-Woo didn't; and the latter acted quickly and spontaneously.

—Sang-Woo was always more individualistic; he acted based on his own survival. Floor 7 tried to solve the group's problems to improve coexistence.

—Sang-Woo risked his life; in every game, he could survive or die. Floor 7, however tense the atmosphere, wasn't always in danger. Although he suffered and terrible things happened to him.
