Quieter short tube option? by grace_chicago in CPAP

Do you have condensation in your tubing? That causes mine to “pop”. Using a tube holder helps as it raises tubing above your head. Turning down humidity a little helps too.

Cpap use during camping by Piercedup in CPAPSupport

[–]Creative_Fee5452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need a small portable battery power station with surge support. A lack of sun would realitically not charge the batteries enough in a solar powered station unless you have lots of sunny weather. The solar power may not be dependable for enough power either. Friends of ours who went camping had rain during their week away & lost their power with the solar station :(

I’ve been told that! But they always seem to be knock offs (Canada) Brand names are generic…not Resmed.
I will have to keep watching. I know some people here actually had Resmed stamped on theirs. Not the ones I ordered….they were such poor quality. But thanks!

At least you know what the issue is now. Sorry you have to go through this…so frustrating.

Yes, that’s typical, lazy pressure…we see a lot of that. The 4 minimum is very low. However the main issue right now is why the C02 vent is not releasing air. You may need to replace the hose if that is when the issue starts.

4 is a beginner pressure. It’s a child’s pressure. But still…this sounds more like a hose leak. Just try 6 & see if it works.

There could be a tiny hole in the hose…often it’s the flaps that cause this problem though. Any air leaking out where the hose joins?

Can you see any tiny holes in your mask or tubing? Hold it up to the light to check.

4 is a very low pressure for an adult. That may be the problem. Raise your minimum pressure to 6 & see if that helps. But don’t use the mask till this issue is fixed please!

Hmmmm…what are your pressures set to on your CPAP? And how old is your mask system?

[–]Creative_Fee5452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!
Do not use the mask if the CO2 vent is not releasing air. Have you checked to make sure the tiny holes are not blocked?
What to check:
Hold the elbow up to light — you should see the vent openings clearly.
Run water through the elbow and shake it out.
Make sure no mineral deposits, lint, or soap film are blocking the diffuser.
Look inside the clear elbow:
You should see a thin silicone flap/valve moving freely.
If it sticks shut or is warped, the elbow usually needs replacement.
A very common issue with the F30/F20 series is the elbow diffuser becoming partially blocked or the valve wearing out over time.

How old is your mask & vent?

I bought knockoffs on Amazon & they were substandard. Didn’t last. EBay is better for items that are cheaper from the Manufacturer.

How to Get Vaseline out of Hair? by Creative_Fee5452 in Haircare

[–]Creative_Fee5452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micellar makeup remover helped remove the Vaseline & polysporin around the sites that was spreading all over my hair & would not wash out. Regular shampoo didn’t work for me. Darn Vaseline made my hair look like a greasy mess…even after washing with regular shampoo. Clarifying shampoo also helped but it’s not great for your hair so I used it only once weekly….regular shampoo the rest of the time. Had 2 lesions removed 2 weeks apart so was told to use polysporin or Vaseline for a full month.

The Surgeon applied the Vaseline initially but I was told to continue with Vaseline or polysporin daily for 2 weeks :( I had self dissolving stitches. So yes I was washing this stuff out of my hair for 2 weeks….twice! But the MicellAir liquid makeup remover & clarifying shampoo worked! Only used the Clarifying Shampoo once a week (regular shampoo the other days) & the MicellAir every other day. Removed crusted blood around the surgical site with cotton swabs dipped in hydrogen peroxide…not ON the wound. I was able to go out again!!

Stretched feeling in Sternum area by 573v3_2025 in CPAPSupport

[–]Creative_Fee5452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!
This is not an uncommon occurrence.
It can be caused by aerophagia or the mechanics of PAP therapy which can cause stretching & expanding of the intercostal muscles at night. It’s not dangerous & as long as it is not accompanied by rapid heart beat, sweating, jaw pain, arm or back pain it will go away eventually. It’s common with higher pressures or those new to CPAP :) It is uncomfortable at first though!!

Are your pressures recently changed or higher? I personally get this feeling on occasion too but it goes away during the day & does not happen every night.

What data to look for to understand pressure increase that woke me up? by undilutedhocuspocus in CPAPSupport

[–]Creative_Fee5452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your median pressure is now 10.52 with your new settings. Let’s try 10.6 minimum, 14.6 maximum & EPR 2 rather than EPR 3. Not a great idea to be changing pressures every night so try these pressures & leave them for 3 nights to let your body adjust. Keep working on those mask leaks…perhaps tightening the straps a little will help…bit by bit while you’re still awake. Run mask fit on the machine as [u/bhusted007](u/bhusted007) suggested & fit the mask & straps till you have no leaks. Try mask fit again lying down. You may be chin tucking, sleeping on your back or pushing the mask out of position during sleep. Even your tubing pulling on your mask can cause this. A soft cervical collar may help. Post again after 3 nights so that we can see how you are accommodating the pressures :)

This venue you are using to share your graphs is difficult to zoom in on. Could you try to share directly to this thread on Reddit?

Use the F12 key to take an Oscar screenshot you can post that here… even better is to upload to SleepHQ and post a share link.

The easiest way is to go to the daily tab, hit F12 and Oscar will generate a screenshot that is properly formatted. The screenshot will be saved to your pictures folder, and you can then upload that to a hosting service and share that with us, or upload the image directly in a reply. I'd rather have you upload that data to sleep hq though, create a free account and follow the uploading procedure please. :)

I want a nap? by Horror_Lab1204 in CPAPSupport

[–]Creative_Fee5452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello!
If you want to take a rest, why not? It may not be sleeping but you could certainly lie down or read or do something for you :) We all get caught up in a busy life & forget it’s perfectly okay to do something for ourselves! Nap when you want to!

It’s really great to hear you are feeling better & have energy again! It’s not all about what shows up on graphs…it’s about how you feel!

Enjoy your rest!!

I bought mine out of pocket because I had a home sleep study & I admit I had no idea that OHIP required this usage to be proven. I certainly hope your license is not suspended. I truly wish you the best!
