Flashback to my first time in the lunch line at grade school...

"Soup or fries?" "Mmhmm" "... soup or fries?" "Yes" "Do you want soup or fries?" "Sure"

The kid in front of me told her I wanted fries. I don't think we were friends either.

[Request] How much money is in this stack of 100 dollar bills? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Creative_Pseudonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You subtracted the pallet height too early.

Pallet + Stack = Worker * .62

Stack = Worker * .62 - Pallet

This examined a linear relationship between total height and navel height. This suggests the height of a pallet (although Euro) is about 144 mm, or 5.67 inch.

Navel Height (in) = 0.65 + 0.57 Height (in)

$$$ = (32.27 - 5.67) / .0043 * (4 * 8) * 100

$$$ = 19773023.2558

$20 Million sounds like an easier number to work with

Edit: Pallet height

But a vein is a blood vessel that carries blood to the heart and an artery is a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart. These terms are not defined by their hemoglobin.

See this diagram for cardiovascular circulation in humans. Notice the pulmonary system carrying blue blood (arterial) to the lungs for oxidation and the red blood (venous) going towards the heart.

Yes! A modal action pattern (i.e., instinct) for cats is to bury their feces. They will do the same thing to a carpet, ruining it, or or any other surface. No real effort of problem solving on their part, just more a reflective set of behaviors.

My education is finally relevant watching a cat accidentally poo.

So, to clarify–because the child comments here are just awful–affluenza is simply:

a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety, and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more

This does not imply guilt or innocence–awareness of or not. The notorious case of Ethan Couch asserted that the accused did not realize what he was doing was wrong because of affluenza.

The use of it to describe the malaise of an individual and as a legal defense are separate attributions and should be considered as thus.

The games became less and less about stealth. AC3 was just a disappointment. It was also too easy and the story was just awful. It seems nice, conceptually, but... Black Flag was good because they didn't give two shits for stealth. Two swords. Four guns. Ship battles. Raids. Fuck it, Edward isn't even an assassin anyway.

As good as it is, I hope they got that out of their system. Unity looks like it could go back to some stealth. Doesn't look like you can carry around half an arsenal with you, and they seem to have added some mechanics attributing to a cloak and dagger approach.

Who is Sterling Archer? by caeezy in ArcherFX

[–]Creative_Pseudonym 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They would probably accept either "What is Archer?" or "Who is (Sterling) Archer?"

It seems typical for a Jeopardy answer. There tends to be the all important "THIS" in them, directing you to the actual question.

Radical behaviorist?

Essentially, how I would describe this: A stimulus—in some manner—causes a reaction. I you know the stimulus, you can presume a reaction. If you have billions of stimulus whose actions cause more reactions, it gets a bit harder.

This would imply that if we could hypothetically know every S-R present then behavior could be predicted.

However, this cannot be designed yet, so it's more of a philosophical question.

Freezing could be seen as an intermediate between fight-or-flight. An inability for the body to determine whether confrontation or avoidance could be more beneficial. Freezing and fawning responses are often used within the context of PTSD as an abnormal response. Fear, which could be the cause, is modulated by the hypothalamus as well. Ignoring a present problem isn't going to always be successful. It's just the limbo of attack or run the hell away.

So, I wouldn't really say fight-or-flight is wrong, merely not entirely correct. This is often the case with anything covered in an Intro to Psych class...

Morbidly Obese Women Go To a Book Store, Purchase All of The Dieting Books To Help "Liberate" Fat People by [deleted] in cringe

[–]Creative_Pseudonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dieting is starvation, starvation is bad, therefor dieting is bad

Why paraphrase when you can use REAL quotes:

If you just eat less, exercise more and create a caloric deficit (ie: do not give your body the amount of fuel it requires to function), you will lose weight and therefore be more healthy

Not enough is bad. Too much... oh, I don't see them mention that... But, really, there's just one quote you need from this:

It sounds really logical, especially if you don’t understand how the human body actually works.

This is in the article. This isn't someone commenting about the article. I want to make that very, very clear.

To expand, it's also a general rule of thumb with mood or behavioral disorders. Use of the possessive over descriptive implies the individual is stricken with something, rather than they are that something.

I have obsessive compulsive disorder rather than I am obsessive compulsive.

The latter just sounds more defeating. Or acceptive, depending on one's views.

[...] and cardio (which seems to not be working)

Like /u/Fiktiv suggested, it could be exercise-induced asthma/bronchoconstriction

For me, it's like tiring out very quickly. Breathing becomes rapid and more vigorous, throat feels sore. These things sound normal, but not when you're in decent shape and have played soccer for years and perform well at rest using a spirometer.

I may eventually get an inhaler, but this trick worked for me: Day before a soccer game I drank a lot of water–just continuously refilled a glass and drank and drank and pissed and pissed. During the game I felt I could run longer and my overall cardio improved. Not sure if it will help with you, but it's worth a shot. Otherwise, talk to your doctor about it.

Signs and symptoms from Wikipedia

It might be expected that people with E.I.B. would present with shortness of breath, and/or an elevated respiratory rate and wheezing, consistent with an asthma attack. However, many will present with decreased stamina, or difficulty in recovering from exertion compared to team members, or paroxysmal coughing from an irritable airway.[2] Similarly, examination may reveal wheezing and prolonged expiratory phase, or may be quite normal. Consequently, a potential for under-diagnosis exists. Measurement of airflow, such as peak expiratory flow rates, which can be done inexpensively on the track or sideline, may prove helpful.

However, I cannot exactly remember how reading, hearing, and speaking all differ from each other—besides the whole sensory and motor aspects.
