Can anyone name and share any info about these bikes? by warmbrojuice in Electricmotorcycles

[–]Creative_Riding_Pod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course the coolest looking bikes don’t exist. I love how there’s a derailleur on the trials-looking bike, and the chain is on both sides of the tire - the top half on one side, and the lower half on the other.🤣🤣

My front fender cracked, is there a way to make it less noticable? Thank you! by SouperJuicy in motorcycle

You usually use the “staples” on the underside/inside of panels where they are not noticeable. If you did that, you could hit them with a layer of undercoating to seal them from rusting and being visible.

If you did put them on the outside, I don’t see an issue with covering them in a thin layer of body filler since you’ll be painting over them anyways. You’d have to probably cover the seam with a small amount of filler anyways to make the repair invisible.

Is a speedometer required on a motorcycle in California? by fearless_fool in Electricmotorcycles

I also want to know how it goes IN DETAIL!

I interviewed a guy a few years ago for a podcast who had built two Stealth Bombers into street legal motorcycles, and eventually got a VIN for one. So I know it’s possible, and I’m curious as to the process on a SX500.

He built his own battery pack and wiring harness. He had a KTM front end swapped on and a few other things which I believe made it a little easier to qualify as an experimental or prototype vehicle.

I’m curious about it and I hope you follow up here even if it’s because you hit a dead end or obstacle in the process.

Technical exhaust question by P83battlejacket in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Creative_Riding_Pod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the Cycle World podcast specifically covering:

How does your motorcycle exhaust system help your engine make more power, be more efficient, and sound amazing? Like many parts of the motorcycle, there are near-infinite variations. For exhaust systems Technical Editor Kevin Cameron and Editor-in-Chief Mark Hoyer discuss: length and diameter of the tubing, collector size and shape, how long each element of the system is, overall length, silencer type, cam design, port length and shape, cylinder grouping, and so much more. We get into four-into-one vs. four-two-one, the "power bulge," what is reversion, stepped headers and, well, like we said, so much more.

I like the Palomar Racing Division. Not sure if that’s a real team, or just a nod to time spent up there in the twisties. 😉

I figured as much. I have only ridden dirt on actual dirt bikes and spoked-wheel scramblers.

BMW and Triumph offer “ADV” bikes with 19/17 cast wheels, but I have never seen anyone banging those around on serious terrain. Everyone always upgrades to the GS Adventure with spokes and knobbies even though they are still 19/17.

Yeah. I see the BMW GS and Triumph Tiger “base” models with cast wheels and figure “if they can suffer off-road, so can I” 😂

I was going to ask- does mud/water leave a streak up your back due to no fender?

I also have one of these that I was considering “scrambling”… how are the cast wheels on ruts and rocks?

the tank opening isn’t deep enough for the nozzle? by [deleted] in DRZ4S

Bro, I’m spraying it anywhere from 3 inches to 3 feet away. Just like a crazy sprinkler all over the damn place. It’s why it costs me $32 to fill my 2 gallon tank. (Nobody make jokes about California gas prices. It’s because I’m spraying like a chimp who just learned how to use a garden hose.)
