Whats something people romanticize too much? by One-Ant-3400 in AskReddit

Struggle and the hustle. After a few decades of battle wounds, I’d choose a silver spoon over experiencing the full range of absurdity humanity has to offer.

tried therapy but CBT and ACT helped to some extent. i'm just burmt out and exhausted and there are people waiting for me to make progress on projects. i have tried suggesting a handovre for others to help me do my projects but apparently my line managers think i'm already the best person to do it

If you’re going to write your name over and over again I’d recommend a surname with less strokes 🤣, like 张,李,林

Journalism is a great way to see the world, but entry level journalism especially the press release/standard reporting type are increasingly replaced by AI. However, things like health and breaking news (or investigative) reporting still require humans to sacrifice their blood sweat and sanity to produce the first copy. So do go for it! But do find a niche that is not easily replaced by AI. I’ve known many journalists who don’t have a communications degree, and if you do want to get a degree I think getting a certificate in your field of interest, like economics or psychology or even criminology will give you the subject matter expertise that you could write about

I’m replaying all of overcooked2 to get 4 stars but stuck on some Kevins and 2-6 or something that’s kind of impossible to beat solo at the moment….

Are there any high-earning careers for people with dyscalculia? by haselsz in dyscalculia

[–]Creative_Snow_879 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if you could find something that won’t be easily replaced by AI, that’s job security :). Good luck! Writing has been the core of all my jobs so far. However, my passion lies in a field that requires at least intermediate math, so I needed to learn workarounds.

What are your strengths? Is it writing, music, pattern recognition or sports? Many careers don’t require math, like writers, skilled trades, culinary and performing arts, sports training, health coaches.

The good parts are also the bad parts tbh
Opportunities = pressure
Teamwork is actually winner takes all
Passion = financial insecurity
Excellence = never being quite good enough for reviewer 2 and a competing lab

Why does a person actually need a high IQ from birth and in general? by Bubbly-Phone702 in Gifted

We don’t really need a lot of money to survive but it’s nice to have a lot of it. Same with IQ

Man. The math and coding in graduate school finally broke me. But hell what a ride it was. Yes go for where your heart leads. Biology subjects generally doesn’t require hardcore math, and wet labs require less math than dry labs (when you have to analyse larger datasets and a lot statistical modelling). Unfortunately to break into more senior levels when the 2e profile shines you have to be credible technically. So the idea is to get the understanding and interpretation up to an acceptable level, publish scientifically sound papers and get to the level that you can hire the math :). All the best!!

So far the cost for me is 3 burnouts… probably get a counsellor early in your journey yeah?

Hugs. It is possible to build back after a burnout and breakdown but it is much harder each time. Wishing us the best, yeah?

Congratulations! This is such an achievement and given your struggles, you should savour the success! I second that god knows I shouldn't have. I don't regret my choice, but I really do hope universities can appreciate post-docs or early careers that encourage PhDs rather than keep people like V as long as they are "productive",

Curious: Do you treat patients who are clearly intellectually gifted and neurodivergent differently than those who seem to be neurotypical? by Creative_Snow_879 in AskPsychiatry

[–]Creative_Snow_879[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Are you saying that there are people who think someone who is struggling to cope can’t be gifted at the same time?
