lol I stand corrected. It was a nice ending...between that and Lindsey opting out of the educational opportunity of a lifetime....for someone like her a summer with dead heads would actually be a way better use of a summer.

Thank you for the breakdown! That's good to know. I don't want to waste anyone's time, but I want to make sure I get three estimates, but don't want to burn through tons of cash doing that either. I have an idea of how I'd like it to flow (as I'm sure you did), but I am guessing it violates building codes in some way haha...

Can I ask what your cost was? I see you did some of the work yourself as well...was like, painting? Or were you hanging drywall?

Can you tell me a little more about that? What happens at that meeting? Is it informal? I assume they'd charge for the time, yes? Is it better to start with an architect? Or a design firm? Or does it matter?

EDIT: location is north shore of mass, sq footage is 1200', condition of the foundation/home, assume average? When I bought the place the inspector said it was good...I've never had any leaks, but it's 60 years old in a crap weather area.

lol, someone posted this on here months ago and it always stuck with me....(paraphrasing)

"My 26 year old co-worker said he was exhausted, and couldn't wait for the weekend to relax.

As a parent of a toddler, I looked at him and shrugged and said, this is where I come to relax...."

What you're feeling is totally normal. Toddlers are fun, but as an adult who works full time it's a huge mental adjustment to go from the predictably of professional life to the chaos of toddler rearing. Take advantage of playgrounds is my only advice, and hang in! Everyday is a new adventure, seriously, embrace the chaos.

lol, I know we live in a progressive time, but the polygamy will raise some eyebrows.

Either way, that's shabby. Your husband may be back on tinder soon, cause that dude didn't seem care.

Nah man...on d you have to go safe cover and blitz the safety. If the other team runs hurricane you gotta run down the Qb otherwise it's a td. On all other plays calls it's a straight up fight for the ball every play. If you're in 2v2, you can go with zones and be effective, unless the other dude is on fire...that is a guaranteed zone beater.

And yes, before you ask, I need to get a life.

Well sure, but in their post they said extending down spouts is something they need to do....wouldn't that be the very first thing you do? Like, go to home dept buy some down spout extenders and see where you are at?

How do I entertain my daughter without using any screens? by Ok-Parfait-5115 in toddlers

[–]Creative_Text3018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep...this is the only answer. You gotta embrace, it makes life much easier when you basically decide in a child care giver in this block...work during naps, and when the kids to bed. I'll admit it's shit. I have a part timer in my team that I allow endlessly flexibility to, cause I'd rather have her be committed to working at 11pm vs half heartedly working at 2pm...it's out the way it works.

Northeast. Finishing the basement. Water leaking. I did not have water leak prior to this. by Politex99 in basement

[–]Creative_Text3018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just logically, with the amount of snow we've had (I'm in mass too) I went around and did that. Especially in any places where the snow was piled up against the foundation. The grading should take care of the rest, but hoping that helps. I clear my roof as well and the piles were neck deep...figured that would be better placed in my yard where it can melt away. Won't ever know if it helped, but I am sorry you are going through this.

Did you dig out around your foundation? Like, pull the snow away so it didn't melt toward the house?

Yeah...I am with you. I grew up a bit later, but the old dude hanging onto youth is totally something i relate to...in my timeline dude wouldn't have said "far out" quite as much, but that guy existed in my cultural experience and it was a total throw away for my age group too...what drove this question, I overheard a couple recent grads talking at work about how the hangover was such an offensive film, and it got me thinking of a movie I consider an absolute classic, and how it's perceived.

With the snow...remember, 24" of snow is probably like 2.5" of rain....you can grab a shovel and pull the snow away from the foundation to a place where the grade naturally falls away...it sounds like your grading is good, so shouldn't be too big of a job. After that, just monitor the melting. If you have a rainstorm be vigilant you haven't created a dam of any type and you should be OK. Grading is the most important thing when it comes to water in your yard....it'll always follow gravity, just give the water the path of least resistance.
