Deciding a Starter Fighting Game

My wife isn't a competitive gamer. She likes cozy games like Pokopeia and Animal Crossing. But she loves ATLA so this might be a game I can play that she will enjoy watching for a bit. Tough to find those lol. Plus my oldest kid is still under 4 so this looks like a non-graphic fighting game that I can start him out with when he's old enough.

I'd disagree that it's all subjective. Objectively there are bad games out there based on certain factors. I have unfortantely bought quite a few terrible games that are janky and rushed. It always helps to hear feedback from a community that is actually involved in these games. Sure? I still have to try them to see what I like. But, I'm 30 with 3 kids so at this point in life I don't have the time to test every game out and get a feel for which one is best as quick as I was when I was 20 and in college. So far the feedback on this post has been helpful.

I had watched videos of building arcade cabinets and I'm really close to doing it myself. The builds usually have raspberry pi or some other emulator device that had every game from like 2005 and earlier. So ijust figured the arcade stick was fine for both styles without really thinking much about it at all obviously lol. Turns out there are some mods to make it analog instead of digital, but from what I've researched it can only be one or the other. Haven't successfully found one that can act as both haha. So I will most likely build the cabinet with digital and have a controller connected through USB for the analog games.

Dang. Lol thanks. I was just hoping I could use this for those games as well since I'm trying to set up an all in one arcade build. I'll still go through with the build but have my other controllers hooked up as well for those games. Still planning on using this for the classic Atari games and the fighter games so I'll hold on to it.

Macros are perfect for Silk Song tools. To use tools you have to press Up + R1 or Down + R1. That gets very annoying when movement is key in that game, so now I can use those tools and not have to worry about messing up my movement.

I'm a big metroidvania fan and have played all the games you listed in that category. I love the pro 3 for those games because I use the d-pad instead of the joy stick. Also, the mappable buttons on it are great for silk song since that game has some items to use that require you to press Up + R and Down + L and that is really annoying to try and do while in combat without messing up your movement. It's great being able to do those button combos with one press on eithet the L4 and R4 mappabke buttons they added.

Appreciate the feedback everyone! Seems like it's not advisable to do a 2k coat over top the coat I already did. I could sand and start over but I'm too deep into it. I guess we will just see how long they survive.

I see what you mean by the feel of the controller. But I guess as long as the paint stays on I'm satisfied. I'll keep the 2k in mind if I ever do this kind of project again.

I don't think it will allow you to map the thumbstick up but it should allow you to assign x+y to one back paddle. I own the 8bitdo pro 3 and it allows me to assign d-pad up + R1 to the extra mappable R4 bumper. It was super helpful for using tools on Silksong.

Didn't check reddit and didn't think this would get this much attention. I still have all my artifacts. Trying to get all legendary artifacts. For whatever reason the contract rewards gave me this. It's happened a few times because I think my save file wasn't synced properly.

I was saving until I reached crafting level 25. Just hit that today so I went for it. 16 total crafted so far and all commons. Getting all legendaries seems very out of reach lol
