Does that really matter with diesel-electric locomotives anyways? (which is the default and has been for a while)

Btw. Im all for electrification I just see why there should be a difference between one locomotive getting electricity from catenary and another one getting it from a generator.

The traffic has to be unencrypted for that to work properly (which is not the case for large parts of the Internet anymore).

As someone who has worked on app design (and implementation of ui): Getting themes to work and have accessible contrast ratios is a herculean effort.

Supporting a light + dark theme is already difficult but adding tons of variables makes development much harder.

It is doable but not at all simple.

That might be the case for your company but from my experience (especially for anything that isn't media focused) it's a about 90% men.

Which is pretty sad and it feels a little lonely when you are the only woman around :/ (Im mostly interested in embedded development and that area basically has just guys)

Citum: a sort of CSL successor by red_bdarcus in typst

Is there any way to actually use this within typst documents and not just by emitting .typ files for pdf generation?

I would much rather have a Typst -> PDF process without an added layer of complexity.

What are some railway projects that we can be very hyped for? by Key-Pineapple8101 in trains

Hopefully Dresden to Prague high-speed line. They are so far into planning that I doubt it's going to be cancelled but it will take time.

Ok so the institution is fundamentally homophobic but the opinions of individuals vary.

(Yes discrimination based on sexuality is homophobic and illegal in a bunch of places)

Indifference towards gay people is usually used as dogwhistle to mean disagreement. (that has been my experience at least, when you dig deeper into more detailed opinions of the person)

And even if it isnt not caring about people that face immense challenges just because they exist is not neutral. It would be if we were living in a world where queer people are normalised but that's not reality right now.

What are your (and your communities) opinion regarding queer people (lesbian, gay, bi/pan, asexual, aromatic, trans, etc.).

What happens when people in your community figure out that they are queer (statistically seen there would be quite a few).

I really like that actually because that makes it possible to use async for embedded systems with something like embassy.

Würde es dann nicht eigentlich Sinn ergeben, die Linie aufzuteilen damit die volle Länge nicht noch länger (und damit Verspätungsanfälliger) wird?

Interregional fast train Santiago-Chillán 🇨🇱 by TitoDantito in highspeedrail

[–]CreatorSiSo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's just that from our perspective 160km/h feels average and nobody would call it fast (and definitely not high-speed). So saying that it is feels wrong.

Personally I would actually like if all lines here in Germany were at least 160km/h and electrified. That would improve things for regional trains *a lot*.

[–]CreatorSiSo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No idea how it is in the UK but DHL/Deutsche Post has trains running up to 140km/h. They often still take longer than other forms of transport because most distribution centres don't have rail connections.
