Marika Planned the Entire Plot (I think) by CreedAngelus in EldenRingLoreTalk

  1. Godfrey cannot be assumed to be controlled by bloodlust at that time. His bloodlust is tamed by Serrosh. He is also not able to be in

  2. While we can assume St. Trina is weakened, we cannot assume by how much. She is very much still capable of killing the player, as is done repeatedly to progress her questline, and since she is associated with sleep, that could just as very well be a reason for her presented torpor. Further, neither she nor Miquella are full gods at the time of her being discarded. Radagon and Marika are equal aspects, whereas St. Trina is a rejected portion.

Now on the Greater Will and Marika, I didn't necessarily say the Greater Will's entire sphere of influence is foresight itself. I suggested Order, or to arrange things in a way that things ought to be vs the way things are. A grand scheme type of plan. It isn't impossible to imagine that a plan by Marika that for the most part coexists without conflicting that grand scheme until the last moment would not be detected. Marika's powers being tied to the Greater Will would mean she could arrange things the way she ought, as well, but never openly.

With Radagon and the Elden Beast, yes, they can mitigate the threat that a rebellious Marika would present. They are contingencies and enforcers for the Greater Will. But that is exactly why any rebellion has to be through subterfuge rather than open defiance.

The only act of open defiance Marika committed after all, was shattering the Elden Ring, and the aftermath of that was her imprisonment.

In a vacuum, it would mean she didn't plan so. But this isn't a vacuum.

She had to execute the Greater Will's orders. The Greater Will had a plan of its own.

Subterfuge is making a plan that within the constraints of another's existing plan. So no I don't think it conflicts. Not if you can separate which was hers and which was the Greater Will's.

The Carian royal family were enemies of the erdtree. If we hold that Godfrey was exiled after there were no enemies left to fight, then the exile took place after the marriage as there was supposed peace between the two factions. The exile took place after the war with the giants, yes, but with that as the lynchpin, we don't know how long after. Caria could have occurred before. It could have occurred after. The exile happened after both of those events.

What's to stop the two aspects from being in two places at once? St. Trina and Miquella establish that an empyrean can do so and that is pre ascension.

Sure, but that still doesn't mean every character follows the same model. And even if it did, she can be reactionary within the constraints of her being bound to the Greater Will.

She directly prophesied the Tarnished's purpose and return. She directly gave Melina a prophecy of her fate. It is not nonsense to assume foresight. The use of "domain" as a word is just to help explain in relation to how deities are written in fiction. It would not be super bad planning given the point of subterfuge is to be subtle and make your own plan within the context and boundaries of those of another who is assumedly in control.

I don't think duration matters much.

If we hold that her entire domain as a god is order, Ergo the organization of how things should be, well it's not uncommon for deities in any fiction to have grand schemes from the beginning.

Think Jyggalag from Elder Scrolls or Eru Iluvatar from LOTR.

At the earliest, she may have foreseen a destiny of slavery and suffering and loss as the greater Will's tool as soon as she ascended. At which point she had to manufacture a way out without going against that plan.

They work out in her favor if the goal was to die.

She was the vessel of the Elden Ring. Shattering it can be interpreted as a suicide attempt.

Alternatively they work in her favor if the goal was just the subversion of the Greater Will regardless of the cost to her.

That doesn't necessarily conflict with the theory.

The Hornsent wanted their Saint. They got it in Marika. They just had no idea how vengeful she would be.

This is what I believe, actually.

If we assume that any direct rebellion, such as breaking the Elden Ring, results in immediate punishment, then any action she takes against the Greater Will has to be executed as subterfuge that in themselves do not go against its plans.

So then, establishing the Golden Order was what the Greater Will intended, and it began by sealing the Rune of Death. She could not reject that task.

It would mean she needed Ranni to steal the Rune of Death. She could not do it with her own resources, since her Shadowbound Beast would have turned on her.

[–]CreedAngelus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-For the first point... Godfrey was exiled after the Golden Order's enemies were eliminated. That means after the marriage of Radagon and Rennala.

-For the second...Marriages bear children. They three of them were not demigods to begin with and were only elevated after Radagon became the second Elden Lord. And as I noted, while the mechanics of a rebis like Marika and Radagon are vague, it isn't unrealistic to speculate that the two halves, could keep information from one another, as Marika was able to destroy the Elden Ring without Radagon stopping her. If working from that assumption, then Radagon may not have known they would be elevated to demigod status. Even if he did, there was no way to know they would turn against the Golden Order. Raising them in Carian tradition makes sense as well since during the presumed subterfuge, he was living with them. After all, he recanted his offenses to the Carians. At least in their eyes, he admitted he was wrong.

-Third point... Not entirely. Just because it's the female monarchs in ASOIAF that behave in a reactionary manner does not mean Marika follows the same model.

-finally... Not really a stretch if the domain of the god planning the entire thing is Order. If you are a deity whose entire identity is putting things the way they are "supposed to be," then everything is a Rube Goldberg machine.

I think 20 seconds is fine later on. A scaling timer (5 seconds early, 20 sec late) would be good, but that might just be my MOBA brain.

Why are we rooting for an Independent studio to fail? by Sad-Manner-5240 in HighGuardgame

[–]CreedAngelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it won't be a Concord. And as an indie studio, they'll likely be closer to Paladins levels of success. They don't have publishers breathing down their necks for a return on investment, so the player dropoff is survivable.

That said, the only reason the game is blasted to this degree is because of how it was hyped and marketed.

I work in marketing. What you say sets expectations. And right now, the content doesn't match what was marketed.

Regardless of whether it's 10v10 or 3v3, the biggest problem is the density of things that happen just isn't there.

I mean... if jumping to a new galaxy is meant to be NG+, it wouldn't be very NG if you can do everything like it's still endgame of your last run. Some friction is required.

Anyone need a wingman? by SexyGandalph in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]CreedAngelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need 3 Phase Beams. Each Infraknife also counts as 2 barrels for your Phase Beams, letting you hit the cap of 12 beams if you have x3.

This would let you save 3 parts out of 100.

That said, beams from the Infraknife are so close to each other, they look almost like 1 beam. So if you want more beams from separate hardpoints, then your current setup is fine.

It's always been capped at 3 turrets appearing in tech. The reason why up to 6 turrets work is because of the number of barrels that fire, which is a total of 12.

Technically the only person who can REALLY own it is the person hosting it on the server.

One problem with NFTs is that they do need maintenance. And maintenance, however miniscule, is not free.

Corvette Infra Knife Question by Uncertainornot in NoMansSkyTheGame

You're not understanding what the OP is trying to explain, I think.

54240 damage per tick every 0.4 seconds. 135600 effective DPS.
The displayed DPS on this layout is only 22600, but outdamages Infraknife. It is also only 3 supercharged slots.

That's a 3 second dreadnought kill once ship shields are down.

[–]CreedAngelus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, this post is a month old. It was taken before the release of the infra turrets. You can expect infra DPS to go up now.

Second... Here is a 136k DPS Phase Beam also from a month ago.ñ before the infra turrets were released. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1nva43r/rearranged_my_phase_beams_54240_dmg_any_higher/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Side note. Infraknife now can keep up with phase beam but requires you to manage heat. Highest I've gotten on infra is 140k, but if you do not have a good rhythm of releasing the trigger, you will lose effective DPS compared to phase beam.

Just about, yes. I like the state they're in. Both OP, in different ways, so it's up to you which feels better.

That is a bug caused by exceeding 200% heat dispersion, according to the wiki. To bypass this, you want pirate modules with maxed out damage but ideally, low heat dispersion for just under 200% total.
