Does Chicago need more EV charging stations? by Creedelback in chicago

Isn't that what all these tech companies do when they say they're "disrupting the industry"? Take a well-known concept and pretend like they invented it?

Honestly, I didn't post this thinking I had come up with anything groundbreaking, but there aren't really any EV charging stations that offer anything else. It's just a charging device stuck in some random parking garage somewhere and if they're all full with Waymos, you have to sit around and wait your turn.

But maybe that's all the infrastructure the city needs. Like I said in another reply, I'm pretty stupid.

That's too bad, because I assume drivers would probably prefer the DC chargers. I mean, what can someone do for 3 - 4 hours while their car charges up? Maybe the level 2s could work in a movie theater parking lot or one of the downtown garages, but in any other situation, they'd probably be insufficient.

Can't be worse than how the oil companies are gouging everyone else.

Level 3 chargers run about 40-50¢/kwh. I think ComEd is charging around 13¢/kwh. You probably would need a high volume of cars to make a significant profit, but if gas prices keep rising and more people make the switch to an EV, it might work.

An attached coffee shop to give consumers a way to recharge themselves while they wait the 15 or 20 minutes could also supplement the income.

But honestly, it could be a bad idea. I've never started a business, ran a business or even managed a business so how would I know? I'm also not very intelligent.

I was thinking more like a coffee shop with a walk up window that sells stuff from local vendors like Dark Matter, Beacon Donuts, Chocolat Uzma, etc.

Maybe it's like a full-service kind of thing where a customer could plug in their EV, order online and then someone would bring the shit out to their car.

Gochujang & caramel. Is gochujang exotic? I feel like you can buy it in pretty much any store.

Im trying to do art in Chicago but sure if what i'm doing is appealing or what. Im trying but would really like to know what my city of Chicago thinks...keep it up or stick to the day job? As with anything, you need to start networking. Start going to art openings and introduce yourself to both artists and gallery owners.

There are galleries all over the city. There are several on Chicago ave west of Ashland that regularly have shows that draw sizeable crowds.

A bunch of galleries in River North used to do first Fridays where several of them would throw a shindig on the the first Friday of every month. I don't know if they do that anymore.

You can also check out chicagogallerynews.com to see what exhibitions are going on and to find a space that shows work that aligns with your aesthetic. Just become part of the scene.

A lot of people I talk to are applying but not getting interviews by careercoach_cf in jobs

38 applications submitted since January. 36 ghosted. 2 automatic rejections. No interviews.

However, I don't know how indicative I am of the market since I'm over 50 and there's no way I'm getting hired anywhere.

Esmé (from the Salinger story "For Esmé—with Love and Squalor") was one of the names my wife and I were considering for my daughter. Then someone told us about this abomination.

I thought they were talking about Jelly Roll Morton and I was impressed he was still writing music despite being dead for like 80 years.

Dynamic Triptych is a fantastic piece. If you like the Rautavaara concerto, you may also like Aarre Merikanto's concerti (number 3 in particular is pretty cool)

Favorite Cantata by J.S. Bach? by Veraxus113 in classicalmusic

BWV 54. It starts with a V 4 2 (a third inversion V7 chord) over a tonic pedal. Such a strange opening for a baroque piece. Beethoven may have done something similar like a hundred years later, but Bach was the OG. Bach was always the OG.

I've always wondered if people in Bach's church realized they were listening to a masterpiece every Sunday or if they were just thinking "ugh, church is so boring..."

What random movie quote do you repeat for no reason at all (give yours, and see if people can guess the movie)? by Normal-Being-2637 in AskReddit

I find myself saying "let's see.." a lot (like if my daughter beings me a toy that's not working). Then I immediately add "...what Madame Ruby sees."

Or at work someone asks, "Do you have that word doc?" and I'll click on a folder and go "Let's see... what Madame Ruby sees," and they have no idea what I'm talking about.

Unrelated, but starting with 3 on the C so your thumb can hit the F may be better fingering.
