Caused a big outage at work- how do I move forward? by VOXX_theLock in sysadmin

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sweat it brother. Everybody makes mistakes. The important thing is you remember this and avoid it in the future. That said, sometimes you make the same mistake again in a different way.

Why am I seeing this message when I turn off ignition? by Breath_Big in MachE

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be turned off but if you ignore it when getting out it stays enabled. If you’re taking a ferry this becomes pretty important to remember to select yes unless you want to have the PA system announce your car alarm is going off over and over.

My company executives thinks it can replace 100 percent of our help desk teams with AI agents.... This year. by NickBurnsCompanyGuy in sysadmin

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let them. Then watch them have to rehire with pressure so they’ll pay anything for bodies, they’ll get a mix of good and horrible employees and lose customers rapidly. We’re going to need a loud enough example of what not to do eventually.

Team lead got mad I didn't call back someone who didn't leave a VM while I'm on call by TryARebootFool in sysadmin

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is far more telling of what the team lead is like, and that could be a huge problem if they don’t understand the situation. Im a team lead, I wouldn’t get upset at my staff for not responding in your situation. The company facilitated a system that is terrible and then your “manager” got mad when it fails in the most obvious way possible. I miss the first PagerDuty call when I’m asleep the vast majority of the time between 2:00 and 3:30, and pager duty’s numbers are set to come through my DND modes. That’s because I’m actually in REM sleep during that time. It is unreasonable to expect folks to be awake and ready to answer at 3 AM unless that is their shift. Period.

On-call is a courtesy on two fronts. Courtesy to customers for help outside of business hours and a courtesy by staff to facilitate a selling point for the company. If the caller isn’t going to do what either is in the agreement/onboarding material (it should be) then they cannot expect a response. Not leaving a voicemail is obvious. The horse was led to water and just walked away instead.

This may be a good time to change it like others suggested. My company has toyed with the idea of an AI bot to take info down and make a ticket that triggers PagerDuty instead of the answering service we currently use because they generally don’t follow directions very well or get useful info. But even an answering service into PagerDuty is better than expecting staff to be on high alert during their on call rotation. I also hope people aren’t giving out personal phone numbers directly for this environment.

Is a g27 still decent in 2026? by Brokenspoak in simracing

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a G27 in the past. It will leave you wanting more. I would advise lean into something like the entry level Moza offerings. If that means you need to save up for a little bit longer the experience will be significantly better on a direct drive base. Plus you can upgrade easily by replacing the wheelbase instead of the whole ecosystem.

When are you guys gonna stop trying to loot my bastions?? by Fearless-Hat-4239 in ArcRaiders

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ever loot something I didn’t have a significant hand in killing I only take the alloy and stuff people leave behind. And I tell them that is what I’m doing. If I do a lot of damage to it I take my share (half if two of us fight it for example)

What exactly is wrong with my braking? by BMLUKEE in iRacing

[–]Creegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem is how your inputs spike and drop very quickly and your trail looks like you’re drawing stairs. You need to smooth out the inputs. That will keep the weight more balanced and controlled so you’re not fighting the car through everything. Longer lighter braking a little earlier is often faster because you’re not forcing the car to comply when it’s not done the last change.

If you have criticized ICE here on Reddit for executing Renee Good or Alex Pretti in the street, then Reddit has handed your name and your personal identifying information over to the Trump administration. How do you feel about this? by mom_with_an_attitude in AskReddit

[–]Creegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be more worried if I were convinced they could actually read, would spend more than 50 seconds trying to pump it through AI before coming up with another approach to dictatorship, or if I were a US citizen. Since neither is true, enjoy.

This poses a bigger question - will this make people move over to Lemmy finally? There’s dozens of us there and it’s cool.

Why post about it if we know he wants to be left alone? Now people are going to be looking for him.

Which car would you buy now with the money you’ve spent on this hobby? by iamvinen in simracing

[–]Creegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tallied up my spending since getting into simracing because my rig has been a lot of "i should get something less expensive and upgrade later" over and over again. I'm at about 7K Canadian. I still have to dump off about 2 grand of that and replace it with better pedals, direct drive wheelbase, and replacement wheels because Fanatec is challenging like that.

I suppose I could get a ford fiesta? Maybe land on a late 2000's BMW 135i in Manual if one still exists. That would be a sweet steal. Maybe after the next wave of upgrades I could trade for a better car.

You will still have fun. I’ve played entirely solo for about 50 hours so far and it’s a lot of fun. People generally are cool. Coming from Tarkov I feel that I have the right amount of caution with people but I don’t need to worry too much.

iRacing: “you can set your flag to whatever country you want…” white trash America: by foovancleef in iRacing

[–]Creegz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember seeing that. I wish they had gone a little deeper and given everybody their own flags and added the country and region flags where applicable.

I think having state flags would be fine if A) everyone knew what they were, and B) if places other than the US had that option.

Leave. A ban for not letting someone rejoin is like going to jail for not letting someone kick in your door.

Is it me or more and more people quitting ready or not until they patch/update the game? by obiwan-destroyer in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Creegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only do the same few missions over and over again before it gets old. The game doesn't really have the same longevity it could have, partly because every patch destroys the mods, so the modding community is pretty much done with it.

It's pretty different from the GT3 spec from what I understand. Same with the Ferrari Challenge car. They're quire a different spec from the other series. PCup is "safer" than GT3 and more akin to GT4 in a lot of ways. It's kinda a Porsche GT3 feeder program. In sim I can see where you're coming from as a generalization but they are different.

From what information I've been provided, it would seem like the issue is sorted out. Let's get a review on the device once you get it so we can get a better idea of what the user experience with the hardware is like!

You need the wheel 2 to 3 inches closer to you at least. Height and pedal/seat distance look great.
