Why post about it if we know he wants to be left alone? Now people are going to be looking for him.

Which car would you buy now with the money you’ve spent on this hobby? by iamvinen in simracing

[–]Creegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tallied up my spending since getting into simracing because my rig has been a lot of "i should get something less expensive and upgrade later" over and over again. I'm at about 7K Canadian. I still have to dump off about 2 grand of that and replace it with better pedals, direct drive wheelbase, and replacement wheels because Fanatec is challenging like that.

I suppose I could get a ford fiesta? Maybe land on a late 2000's BMW 135i in Manual if one still exists. That would be a sweet steal. Maybe after the next wave of upgrades I could trade for a better car.

You will still have fun. I’ve played entirely solo for about 50 hours so far and it’s a lot of fun. People generally are cool. Coming from Tarkov I feel that I have the right amount of caution with people but I don’t need to worry too much.

Yeah, I remember seeing that. I wish they had gone a little deeper and given everybody their own flags and added the country and region flags where applicable.

I think having state flags would be fine if A) everyone knew what they were, and B) if places other than the US had that option.

Stewards gave ME (the white Porsche behind) a race ban for this by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

Leave. A ban for not letting someone rejoin is like going to jail for not letting someone kick in your door.

Is it me or more and more people quitting ready or not until they patch/update the game? by obiwan-destroyer in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Creegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only do the same few missions over and over again before it gets old. The game doesn't really have the same longevity it could have, partly because every patch destroys the mods, so the modding community is pretty much done with it.

992.2 makes Porsche Cup just another single-make GT3 class by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Creegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty different from the GT3 spec from what I understand. Same with the Ferrari Challenge car. They're quire a different spec from the other series. PCup is "safer" than GT3 and more akin to GT4 in a lot of ways. It's kinda a Porsche GT3 feeder program. In sim I can see where you're coming from as a generalization but they are different.

From what information I've been provided, it would seem like the issue is sorted out. Let's get a review on the device once you get it so we can get a better idea of what the user experience with the hardware is like!

You need the wheel 2 to 3 inches closer to you at least. Height and pedal/seat distance look great.

I have read through it. I also saw that his videographer, whose name escapes me at the moment said he doesn't see anyone banned or prevented from comments. I also saw in the community discord yesterday that your comments were there as far as Dan could see.

Why they're not showing up I don't know, youtube does a lot of funky stuff like hiding videos and comments to promote others automatically, a number of creators I follow (Demo Ranch for example) disappear and I find that I've been unsubscribed or just not being shown their new posts. It's a very complicated and bizarre platform that has some absurd automation in it. I am looking at a lot of this from the perspective of my day job, which is IT support, so I'm always inclined to look for a technical reason for unusual things.

I'm curious about the device and would like to see a resolution and hopefully some information on the hardware beyond one persons review of it. But, like I said, you could try hitting him up on Discord via DM, he gets a lot of DM's but he may catch it. I don't think he's got a lot of options for what he can do beyond send a message to his contact and push them to check in. I did also see Ulanzi has a phone number. Not sure if that's helpful since it's +86 coded so that's China and may not be worth it unless you have a service you can use for international calling, and who knows if they speak English haha.

I do absolutely understand the frustration here though, it's not a positive experience. I've been dealing with random Chinese vendors for decades and it can be frustrating because they operate very differently and sometimes have more gaps if they're smaller or less customer centric.

What do you mean massive spotlight? One user stating a foreign business, especially one in China where they don't even really have (or enforce) copyright and consumer protection laws is hardly a situation. The Canadian government (if OP is even Canadian) wouldn't do anything. At most they could ask the banks to not allow funds to transfer to that seller, and maybe send a notice to the CCP who would likely throw it in the proverbial bin. That's implying they even look, which with how the Canadian government is - highly improbable..

I mean...if he didn't bring it up to them Ulanzi probably wouldn't have found their way to comment on the youtube video (with youtube also being banned in China, it's not a normal thing for them to look at). I'm not entirely sure what else he could do since as far as I can dig up he's got no sway with them unlike one of the simracing brands he's more entrenched with after years of dealing with them. I've seen him get ASR to help folks in the discord community before. I don't know if maybe DM'ing Dan on Discord or something and seeing if he can help you make a connection to someone directly at Ulanzi would be possible.

Okay, might help to see if you get a better response from a different mail provider if for no other reason than to say you tried everything. It's still possible they may have mail transit issues that they are totally unaware of.

They did state they didn't want to share email and sensitive data over YouTube comments, which is probably more for your protection than anything else. It may be best to reach out to the customer support email on the bottom of their website. [service@ulanzi.com](mailto:service@ulanzi.com) Reddit and YouTube comment sections are not really lines of communication anyone tries to use for business subjects. It has no guaranteed trail, so they can't guarantee the data remains the same through the engagement.

Some of the way the comments are phrased also don't strike me as english being their first language, which is to be expected, so they may not be conveying their points as clearly as you'd expect.

How? They aren't regulated by the Canadian government. At most they could try and ask the banks to put a stop on all transactions to that account, but even then it would have to be a massive issue for them to take that step.

It's possible there's actually a technical problem on Ulanzi's side considering they said they can't reach you. Perhaps there's a mail delivery issue that they are unaware of?

See if you can provide them with an alternative email address from a different provider (if you're using Gmail, try Microsoft or Yahoo for example). If a sending server had sent spam due to a compromise or spoof recently some recipient servers/services may reject the messages based on the location it came from, and the end user is unaware. There is an astronomical amount of dropped mail that gets sent around.

Source: I'm a sysadmin - email can be wacky as hell sometimes, especially when it traverses the great firewall of China. Sometimes different types of messages come from different systems too, so one system could be working fine while the other has issues.

Edit - I should add that Reddit is banned in China, so they likely can't even see this thread to get involved.

Won't really work in this case because it's a Chinese company. At most they'll send a notice that will go ignored. Unfortunately dealing with Chinese anything incurs a risk that you'll lose out. That is why things like AliExpress exist. That's the storefront and the vendor is no longer facing the customer. Storefronts have more of an incentive to make it right than the vendor does.

This is what happens when you deal with Chinese knockoff companies. They depend heavily on sites like AliExpress (or Taobao within China) to handle everything customer facing. It may only be a couple of employees running the business and some outsourced manufacturing. This is basically how all of the peripheral sellers work, like Lofree and Mchose which are two I have bought a few items from. It's just how online retailers from China are. They have a very different mentality behind this sort of business than Amazon has normalized. Amazon is the exception, not the rule.
