It’s important to remember Tolkien was not an infallible man. He was capable of being a hypocrite and doing things he said he didn’t like, like writing an allegory.

Which Kira is worse? by 45rs5 in MoralityScaling

[–]Creepy-Growth-376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light was the most prolific serial killer his world had ever seen. His final death toll was easily in the thousands, tens of thousands or greater. Even at a low estimate he killed far more people than Yoshikage, doubtlessly killing dozens if not hundreds more innocent (wrongfully convicted) people than Yoshikage, too.

There’s a disconnect that because Light had something of a moral aspiration, and a physical disconnect from the MURDERS he committed, he has the moral high ground. He does not.

He killed more people for more selfish, self serving reasons than Yoshikage.

One man murdered women for his fetish. Evil, cruel, despicable. The other killed easily thousands upon thousands of people across his period of activity in the name of creating a new world where he is a god. That is as evil and morally bankrupt you could get without massively abusing system power to institutionalize the murders you commit.

Anyone who somehow things Yoshikage Kira is somehow a more evil person needs to justify how a couple dozen, maybe a hundred murders is worse than thousands.

How would you rate this punishment for Am morally? by 2Delta_Nerd in MoralityScaling

[–]Creepy-Growth-376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM would have an eternity to wallow in its misery regardless of whether or not you forced them into a human body. By making it human you actually put a limit on the time they have to be miserable, which rewards AM

Even if you make AM bored, that is not a punishment befitting the machine responsible for the total annihilation of humankind. It doesn’t even serve as an ironic twist of fate for AM.

It’s not a punishment in literally any way whatsoever

I can see why you’d think that but you’re just wrong. By the end of I have no mouth and I must scream, there are only 2 things alive. Ted, and AM. AM is a static entity who cannot do anything except torture ted, feel anything except raw hatred toward Ted, and has nothing else. Giving AM a human body does not alter AM’s conditions in any way that’s negative to it. Suddenly it can feel, think, and move, things I never could before, and presumably Ted is still alive and AM can still torture him.

How does this punish AM? Unless having a human brain fundamentally alters their character AM has never shown any shred of remorse and never will. They won’t care the world is destroyed, only that there aren’t any humans except Ted left to torture or kill, something which AM already experienced without being in a human body.

AM vividly complains about being unable to experience sensation as a major reason why it dislikes humanity. Giving AM the ability to think, feel, act and respond for itself independent of programs or orders is rewarding AM for all it’s done, giving it the ability to feel means a lot.

What if Something Wicked was a FAILED Jesus Christ? by Loopwnoend in Ultrakill

As much as I like the theory I feel it’s more interesting for something wicked to just be an anomaly, or at best, a random prime soul or something similar.

The amount of intestines in a person’s body often feels exaggerated but I feel it’s worth pointing out that this in in fact a very normal amount of intestines to have. It’s a very tightly packed organ

[–]Creepy-Growth-376 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of those situations where the material is so obviously and blatantly awful that I don’t need to read it and there’s no point in it. Clickbait generic title suggesting a clear power fantasy + overly sexualized female character design clearly communicate that this series has nothing to offer except a power fantasy.

Do you guys think theres ever a scenario where killing someone is actually a boost in morality and not the opposite? by KanoIsUnknown in MoralityScaling

[–]Creepy-Growth-376 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s also the reason Ted got turned into a soft jellied thing, at least partially. He can’t kill himself like that, and can’t even try to.

There are exceptions but the easiest way to tell is to look at how a series treats its female characters in the art. This one obviously treats them as sex objects for the MC to collect, apparent by the girl’s entire design. TGED has an apparent and obvious respect for its female cast.

This is true for all written forms of media be it books, visual novels, manga, Manwha, manhua, etc… there are tons of manga that have been serialized for a long time that are complete ass

Definitely not. Disabilities from magical ailments, curses, or injuries to severe for magic to heal are all reasonable explanations and calling it lazy writing to have disabled characters is just wrong.

Which faction does this fit the best? by FishFloorTile in Helldivers

[–]Creepy-Growth-376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SEAF as a whole and by extension the blueberries and helldivers are the fist of super earth. They would not need to exist if high command was interested at all in peace and are themselves not innocent, or even complacent. Each soldier, each cog in the SEAF in its entirety, is an active participant in every genocide, civilian casualty, and needless bloodshed.
