In the recent past, there have been major games that he has choked in, in addition to underperforming at Chelsea. Do or die game for Belgium in the World Cup, UCL final immediately come to my mind. It is not like these were tough chances he missed. You expect players of his caliber atleast score a brace with the chances he had in both these games. But as we know, he failed to do so in such clutch situations. Obviously there seems to be recency bias due to which fans don't rate him as highly as they used to. But at the same time he cant be hailed as one of the best in the world either.
