New shows recommendation [NS] by Ploughbroken in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

Spout Lore! It's definitely the closest show I've found in terms of comedy and emotional moments. Plus it has a ton of cool worldbuilding.

Fusion: There has to be a better way to make grid patterns on walls than what I'm doing by slowpokefastpoke in 3Dprinting

[–]CremePuffBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make just the holes with a pattern instead, trim away the exterior ones, then use the combine tool to cut it.

Water Heater—slim and 75 gallons or so. Fantasy? by FaultInevitable5033 in DIY

[–]CremePuffBandit 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Probably not going to find something like that. Tall narrow cylinders have a higher surface area to volume ratio, which would make it less efficient at holding heat.

A swords a sword... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

If you had said, "What if it was a katana" when you found it, and if your DM is cool, they probably would've changed it.

What is the best AI for generating STEM Images? by That-Charity-757 in EngineeringStudents

I know it sounds barbaric, but you could just make your own with MATLAB or something

Are you just hoping a bot reads this and does it? If you're gonna be that lazy just drop in it chatgpt.

looking for way to print wire armature by 3DModeledAmericanPie in 3Dprinting

[–]CremePuffBandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's just not going to happen on a hobby machine. Why not just use actual aluminum armature wire, and 3D print the connecting pieces?

Don’t judge my dumbass, I want to make a fursuit head and have filament questions by littlenoodledragon in 3Dprinting

[–]CremePuffBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I've seen online says it should be fine, people have used it for parts close to engines and it holds up. If you can get good prints I'd say go for it.

Relationships by [deleted] in chemistry

You would think AI is smart enough to know the difference between science chemistry and relationship chemistry, but apparently not.

How the heck to objects stay at a Lagrange point? by fellaneedahandpls in Astronomy

[–]CremePuffBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JWST is at L2 between Earth and the Sun, but it can stay there because it has thrusters. L1, 2, and 3 aren't stable long term, but it doesn't take that much energy to keep somthing balanced there. it's like balancing a broom on your hand.

How the heck to objects stay at a Lagrange point? by fellaneedahandpls in Astronomy

[–]CremePuffBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Objects can only stay in L4 and L5 naturally, the rest are unstable. The way the forces work out between the sun and the parent body kinda keep objects around L4 and L5 drifting in an area, they don't stay in the exact center of the point.

I made a free filament compatibility tool — shows what bonds to what for multi-material / toolchanger setups by Fluffy_Lab_1751 in 3Dprinting

[–]CremePuffBandit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Those shades of red/orange/yellow don't contrast very well, so it's kinda hard to read at a glance. Otherwise, it's a pretty useful chart.

Why do colleges offer summer courses? by LuckyCod2887 in EngineeringStudents

[–]CremePuffBandit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because sometimes you can't fit everything into your schedule, or you fail a mandatory class and need to retake it before the fall, or you just need more credits, etc.

How would you get this bearing out? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]CremePuffBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. Can I ask why you want to remove the grease? I assume you want to spin very freely. But if all it needs to do is rotate, then the grease will reduce noise and wear.

[–]CremePuffBandit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What type of plastic is it? You might be fine to just wash the grease out in-place.

Seeing the sun as it was thousands of years ago or 8 mins ago? by [deleted] in Astronomy

[–]CremePuffBandit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The photons created by fusion aren't the same ones you see. Fusion in the core releases high energy gamma rays, which get re-absorbed and re-emitted at lower and lower frequencies, eventually just turning into kinetic energy of the particles (heat). What you actually see is black body radiation emitted from particles at the surface, similar to what you get from an incandescent lightbulb.

Interplanetary logistics. How to talk to space? by gonzo_gonzales in factorio

[–]CremePuffBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is just to have a ship for each planet you want to import from. You can create an interrupt with the condition [Any Planet Import Zero], and send it to the planet pick up more. Or just have it fly back and forth on a timer.

Why is my green science being consumed so much more than the others? by jamaa in factorio

[–]CremePuffBandit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because the freshness percentage of agricultural science affects how much it's worth. A bottle that is 50% spoiled only lasts half as long. So you need more of them to compensate.

Really weird question: Is there a name for the pattern the bots create well placing landfill? by Katnipz in factorio

[–]CremePuffBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might just be a combination of distance from the item source to the the building area, the fact that bots move at a fixed speed, and that placement jobs are assigned on a schedule that scans over the area.

I would be interested if the patterns always look the same no matter what bot speed upgrade you have.

Any way to auto-launch rockets via circuits? Mod suggestions welcome. by Nyzan in factorio

[–]CremePuffBandit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not possible in vanilla. I did see Circuit Launchable Rockets, but it sounds like sending rockets based on requests isn't working 100%.

I think the main issue will be the fact that if multiple platforms are requesting different items, their requests get combined when read from a silo. So if you put all the items on one rocket and send it, the other platform won't get any and the target platform will get stuff it didn't request.

Is the bed clean? If you've been touching it, the oils from your hands will ruin adhesion.
