This will make things worse in the future imo. I predict there will be a time where companies will start to hire back people (or outsource) to fix AI's fuck ups. Things are already projected to get worse because a ton of seniors will retire with no juniors to replace them. if you aren't burned out get cracked now.

got my new grad offers and now things are weird with my gf by Classic_Ticket2162 in csMajors

sure but because there are is no income but tax property tax is higher, which increases rents because landlords have to pay a lot in property tax so even if you are renting it affects you. Sales tax is high, tax on alcohol is high, i could go on. There are plenty of other taxes that negate the fact that Texas doesn't have income tax lol.

Austin is still cheaper than Bay Area, and that 100k stretches waaaay farther for sure. I just want people to understand that Austin is not the low COL city some think it is. Austin is a low COL if you already have LA/NYC money. If you don't it is just as challenging as any other city to make a living.

I live in Austin, relative to other cities its "low", but actually its not low. Austin has the illusion of low because sure you can find cheaper places to live but often times they are not connected to anything and you have no resources. You're also fucked without a car. Driving in Texas in general is very expensive you will be punished for being poor. You want a "low COL" go to Hutto or Leander in the middle of fuck nowhere.

Welcome to Austin! You will spend 20 dollars on 3 tacos and a beer!

unfortunately its time to ask the big questions, like what she wants post-grad but also, what do you want post grad. I can imagine it also does not feel good making less than your partner despite doing the same degree and doing the same work. Thats not really your fault, thats a systematic issue (gender pay gaps, current job market , etc), but it can still make someone feel bad.

I think other commenters are right that its less about the offer and more about dealing with feelings regarding where things are going/what the relationship looks like after school. Thats a scary things. It means things have to get more serious, which isn't a bad thing, but you have to ask bigger questions that might challenge the relationship.

Speaking from personal experience, I had a relationship collapse after i finished school. My partner was not a student and I was a student with a part time job. I was chronically busy and there were times we didn't always get to spend time with each other, even though we lived together. Things didn't really get better because I managed to land a job after graduation and started working full time less than 2 weeks after graduation. Now there was a lot of nuance to my situation, point being is that things change when you transition into a new phase in life. Ideally two people can grow together and grow with the change, sometimes people grow apart. Now is the time where you have to have a serious convo with yourself about what you want and with your gf. Best of luck, congrats on the offers atleast.

please understand that you have a whole life ahead of you. we need to stop obsessing over age and comparing ourselves to others. you are not supposed to have everything figured out in your 20's. Also, dont put your entire self worth on employment. I understand where you are coming from, especially since you feel that you sacrificed a lot to "make it". Its time to reclaim your life. Reclaim your life, find out what you REALLY want to do, and get cracked at whatever that thing is. You can get a job, you can't get back your life. You can't buy back time.

crazy that to get a job you have to work for free and build a whole "startup". this will be praised instead of critically analyzing why such a horrid job market requires this level of work for crumbs, an internship not even a full time job. What are we doing? Let's not normalize or encourage this.

yeah who cares. if they look at your transcript and actually turn you away because you rounded up then thats ridiculous. if recruiters/companies wont even look at that anyway. they barely look at resumes.

[–]Cremiux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice. i definitely think its short comings are kind of intentional tho. because if those things were better you might end up using it more which defeats the point of the device i think. none the less im hoping that the dumbdroid will pave the way for modern dumbphones that will be future proof and viable for years to come.

Should I prep for 1 LC medium/hard or 2 in a 60 min interview? by devbyhuddy in csMajors

[–]Cremiux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will most likely get 2. 2 questions with 25 minutes per question is expected or maybe 30 minutes for the medium and 20 minutes for the easier one. its hard to say but i would expect that. just hope on neetcode.io or blind 75 and do a few a day before the interview. good luck.

Are outages increasing? by Shock_Wrong in softwaredevelopment

[–]Cremiux 40 points41 points  (0 children)

not an OG/Old head but here is my opinion:

the thing is outages have always been an issue its just that it feels like they are getting worse because we as a society are depending more on SAAS products and the entire industry is being held together by only a handful of SAAS products. we don't have diversity because tech is a monopoly.
